It doesn't matter about chart positions really. I feel that the way they record success is not really a true reflection. It should just be on sold units. Surely airplay and streaming is just promoting the song for it to be bought but hey ho!

 

I guess we just have to think Celine has had her reign at the top so for me successful tours and top 10 albums worldwide is proof enough. And anyway singles are released to promote an album really

 

It's not because the current way doesn't fit our "stuff" that it doesn't reflect reality. That's completely the other way around and it shows the true reality of what people are listening to.

 

I don't remember the ratio but xxxx streams = 1 unit sold for the chart.

 

With physical singles, you couln't tell. People could buy it , listen to it once and put it aside. Does it mean the song was popular ? No way at all.

 

The way things are working now is fair. And it also has a different ratio whether you paid the stream or not.

 

You have to take into consideration that 1 unit sold = thousands of streams. Sorry but I personnally didn't play a physical single that much.

 

Streaming reflects exactly what people listens the most.

 

The real issue with this way of counting is that all the generations of a population are not represented. Because clearly streaming is mostly for "young people" and appeals mostly to sub-genres like rap music for instance. Heavy music listeners are the teenagers.

 

All the veteran artists have the same problem. In France, you won't find any french pop music in the chart of spotify.

A lot of people will go see the movie. That will definitely trigger some streams and sales

I don't think the streaming part is fairly done. Some streaming services are pre-programmed songs on "stations" like they do on Pandora; and you can't just play the song over and over again at your leisure. In my opinion, these types of streams should be counted like airplay.

The song is top twenty again I'm sure in part to Ryan Reynolds reposting Celine's performance on his Instagram this morning.

 

HE has 21 million follows. Celine has 2. Lol.

 

Anyway. The song has legs.....It will probably pull in another 40-50 million views this weekend my perdition enough to keep the song Top 40 through next week.

 

Don't understand why HOT AC has not picked up this song too (Adult Top 40)..

 

Sony are idiots. This song better be on the new album.

With so many of the countries on the list for where she is set to tour this Summer, would soooooo love it if this song was performed. Kinda like how she promoted how does a moment last forever was done last Summer to promote that and its film. And agree completely with another poster, it sucks that hot AC stations etc. have not picked this up yet. Sony are indeed idiots!

Spotify Update: 5,820,684 plays. Which means it was streamed just under 500,000 times yesterday, which is now the largest stream count in a day for it! It's rising! :)

 

And today, the Spotify plays are at 6,344,151 plays, which means it was streamed about 524,000 times in the past day. It's still increasing! :)

I can't say for sure... but I want to say that when this song hit, her monthly listeners on spotify was in the 3 to 4 mil area, not middle but low end. And I could be wrong, but anyway, I feel like I am sure it wasn't 4 mil yet. Since then she gained like 2 million listeners.. it's now at 6.2 (will update tomorrow morning I think). She's about 1.5 mil away from mariah. And she was increasing about 200k a day more or less, but this last one was almost 300 or 400k. in some days more she will have passed Mariah, and that's something since she is a much bigger singles artist, which plays better for streaming... I might be overstating the starting point,, if anyone knows or posted the monthly listeners at the start please let me know... but I'm sure it's grown close to 2 million if not more..And streaming wise, that's fantastic...
