Strongly disagree, ashes is her most recognisable english hit since taking chances. Even the professional dances love it (and jlo was in that above vid listening to the song!!). It's one of her signature hits now among her fans, we should be grateful that she realises this and is performing it everywhere

that steve aoki version is a piece of crap. Sorry but that is what it is imo. And the original song itself sounds really epic and i feel that this new version without orchestra already comes much closer.

have you ever wondered why such a beautiful and powerful ballad was kept out of the oscars and also grammys?

 

i was listening to some random mina songs and then this song started playing and something was strange because i knew the song but it was the first time i was listening to it. then i started to try to locate in my musical memory why i was feeling so strange and familiar.

 

then booooom

i started to sing ashes and i couldnt believe it.

 

so what do you think....

i think that guy used this song and then someone discovered later then thats why they couldnt even send to the awards season

There's a tiny similarity in the piano but if you hadn't pointed it out I wouldn't have noticed, everything else is completely different. I don't think that's why it wasn't nominated.

There are numerous songs that sound the same. One of the most prominent to me is 'Oops I did it again' by Britney Spears, which chorus is SOOO similar to 'Woman in Love' by Barbra Streisand.

okay i finally listened to the song. The verses indeed have the same chords but there are so many songs that use the same chords and this was only for a brief moment. And that is where it ends. No similarity whatsoever but have to say it is a lovely song! And could see Celine singing this!

They didn't send it to awards season because the song wasn't written specifically for the movie. There was an article within the past few months (I'm afraid I don't remember which one) about how they were looking for a song for the movie and found Ashes, which had been sitting around for a while. Thus, it could not count as being written specifically for the movie.
