"Ashes" - from Deadpool 2 - Official Topic

I wasn't a Celine fan before Ashes so, for me, "desperation" for new music wasn't the case. I had not even watched Deadpool when I saw the music video.

It's all a matter of taste.

Thats because you are new to her career then, you don't have years of comparison as many of us here have me a fan since 1996 know this is not her best song

And I really like Ashes!

What does anyone think the odds are that Celine might actually show up to the 2019 Grammy Awards on Feb 10th? The Deadpool 2 album is officially nominated and Celine does have that time completely free in her Vegas schedule, so maybe she will be there in person or even be one of the performers. Fingers crossed!

yes even when she doesn´t win an oscar or something like that (it isn´t needed but it would be great ;)) it would be just great to have maybe a hd video of ashes on a big important show :)

I hope she goes but sings a new single instead of Ashes. Usually the soundtrack award doesn’t get televised.!

The Deadpool 2 soundtrack has been nominated. So if it wins, whoever features on it shall win grammies-Céline,Cher,Dolly Parton, etc.

A soundtrack is usually a multi-artist project with each song having different singers, producers and engineers, but usually only one music supervisor to over-see the soundtrack.

If a soundtrack has multiple artsists, like Deadpool 2, and should it win, not all the singers, producers or engineers will win Grammies.

Instead, the Grammy will be awarded to the artist, producer or engineer who contributed to the majority of the soundtrack.

And if there is still no person who did a majority of the soundtrack, then the Grammy will be awarded to the music supervisor who the movie studio hired to oversee the soundtrack.

So if Deadpool 2 wins the Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, then Celine will not be awarded a Grammy.

Nope. The rules say the artists get the grammy too.

59. Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media

Award to the artist(s) and/or ‘in studio' producer(s) of a majority of the tracks on the album. In the absence of both, award to the one or two individuals proactively responsible for the concept and musical direction of the album and for the selection of artists, songs and producers, as applicable. Award also goes to appropriately credited music supervisor(s).

Reading the rules, as Celine is only one of the singers that appears in the soundtrack, seems like it will be the individuals proactively responsible for the concept and musical direction of the album that will get the award instead.

Exactly! That's precisely what happens here everytime she has released a side single in the last years. It happened with Recovering (oh wow a song from P!nk-I'm dying-this is her next hit!), it happened with HDAMLF (oh wow her next hit recording again for Disney) and it happened again with Ashes. But in the end... these are just more run-of-the-mill songs in her career which pale in comparison to many of her more unknown songs included in her best albums (Next Plane Out, Just Walk Away, NBBMH, The Greatest Reward and so on) :)

They can do so much better, and none of these were single material worth of a nomination, honestly.

Yes, there's tons of garbage music and crap singles getting lots of attention out there, but the truth is that for Céline's standards... these songs are not her best. She has lots of unknown songs in her albums that are way much better than these singles...

Remember, how some people here use to react every time Celine and her team released a new song the couple years: 'OMG!!! IT IS SO PERFECT, I HAVE BEEN CRYING FOR 4056 HOURS!!!' or people writing 'THIS WILL BECOME HER BEST HIT AFTER MHWGO, I AM 10000% SURE ABOUT IT'.

It is always so funny reading such comments! But to be fair, I loved 'Ashes', I liked 'Recovering', but I found it boring after the 15th time I listened to it. The same happened with HDAMLF. I agree that they are a bit 'Class B'.

There's no way Ashes can be compared to I Don't Know or I Surrender or Seduces Me in terms of the song's atmosphere and depth of lyrics, but it's a really good modern day, not-so-super-cheesey pop song that really suits Celine.

I prefer Ashes to the other crap songs nominated!! And Shallow is... well really shallow in my opinion. :-D

Nice to hear IDK getting mentioned after all these years!

Peace and love to all.

26 Major Changes Once Upon A Deadpool Makes To Deadpool 2

13. The opening credits sequence is gone

Poor Celine Dion doesn't get the respect she deserves in Once Upon a Deadpool, as her theme song for the movie--and the entire opening credits sequence-- was dropped from the new version.

Our last hope would be if they decide to let Celine present the award, as this article suggests, hahaha:

https://www.out.com/...est-song-oscars

Here’s my ultimate prediction:

Presenter Celine Dion announces Thom Yorke as the winner, and he’s not even in attendance so Lady Gaga accepts for him. “For which mother were you anointed?” she asks Dion, slowly tearing open her chest, pulling out the sunglasses she wore on the cover of The Fame. She walks through the Dolby Theater, row by row, as Nicole Kidman, Glenn Close and Melissa McCarthy beg for death. Rami Malek, stripped naked, wails something halfway between a howl and a song. “Keep dancing,” cries Gaga, “you’re all so beautiful, just dance!” Then she announces a new release of tickets for Enigma.

Five songs will be nominated for the Academy Awards on January 22.

as a Celine fan I am annoyed but I have to wonder if it was due to time? She's in the versions that matter most of the movie, so it's not a big deal.

As a fan of Deadpool I am glad they addressed the whole fridging Vanessa. I don't really care for her character, she's just the girlfriend™, but it's pretty weak of the writers to kill her off for most of the movie just to give Wade angst.
