Looks like this the new process. Link below. Maybe the studio couldn’t submit it because they aren’t taking submissions. The Academy is generating a shortlist first this year on their own to vote on.

It would simply be great to watch Ashes live on the oscars...it´s always great to see the people´s admiration for Celine one such events

Who else got the video banned on IG? I just posted the "talking part" bettween Celine and Deadpool at the end and got a warning from IG saying it was going to be blocked du to copyright...she is not even singing! FML

the days of celine being nominated for awards in the US are long gone. we need to accept that. she will still get an award here or there in canada and french speaking countries. for US awards shows, she will only get the legends and lifetime achievement type of awards...

Well, Annie Lennox and Dolly Parton got a nomination this year, so I don't see any problem for Celine expect being, in a way, boycotted.

What I do not understand is because they did not send the song to be nominated, it's strange that it was a strong competition, that sounds like a boycott, remember that last year they sent the music of Beauty and the Beast.

it could very well be the latter reason...btw dolly and annie make music that the elitist critics like. celine doesn't, so her chances go further down.

You don't get an award because you promote the song. That is silly.

 

Then "Ashes" was performed live.

 

Finally, if I just stop at the first song of the list : nothing more than for Ashes was done.

I use to think the awards pick the best song out there, not the song has to submitted. After I knew how it works, I can't see the awards show like I use to see.

Mayve Celine and her team didn't want the heavy promotion the song really needed in order to get more attention?

I think Celine is beyond awards, red carpets and promotions, like she REALLY does not care anymore, she has her billion, her kids, her reputation....like she says, she has nothing to prove...which some of her fans think she is just a "lazy" artist,, giving the fans just drops of new material and keeping us on our toes...

Some people want her to work like 1996...ain't gonna happens kids.
