She has since had the original and remix versions on repeat and is even contemplating a Vegas trip to see Celine now. She hadn't a CLUE who/what Deadpool even was so trying to explain the music video was just... :sofunny: Anyway, in her words..."It's one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a really long time!" 13 Quote

Tricey3115 Posted October 6, 2018 at 12:29 AM Posted October 6, 2018 at 12:29 AM Is the oscar buzz true about Ashes Quote
drove all night Posted October 6, 2018 at 05:54 AM Posted October 6, 2018 at 05:54 AM Is the oscar buzz true about Ashes Surely would be great if Ashes would be nominated but I have my doubts (which literally means nothing, cause I don't claim to be the "all-knowing, all-seeing Trash Heap" ... if someone still knows the "fraggles"). Not because the song's trash, but more if there are enough supporters in the Academy. And ... with all my love and respect for Céline's work, but the soundtrack of "A star is born" - of course "only" just my opinion - is a masterpiece! And the hype of the movie just started. But sure as hell something of the movie will be on the nominations list for Original Song (and if not, than something's going really wrong in the Oscar community! ) Quote
drove all night Posted October 6, 2018 at 06:01 AM Posted October 6, 2018 at 06:01 AM (edited) I don't know what has to do a tango with a dance remixed song, but if that's promotion for Céline... Its a tangodangogogodancedancedremixedsong. :sofunny:And, my darling, Céline doesn't need any promotion. She's on "legend level, superextradoubletripletenfoldplatinium status". No promotion's ever needed. The whole thing runs. Cash flows ... even without massive promotion! And promotion for what? That womans not even richer than richer, she even said herself that she doesn't have to proove anything anymore! Edited October 6, 2018 at 06:05 AM by drove all night 1 Quote

maki_Dion-er Posted October 6, 2018 at 08:29 AM Posted October 6, 2018 at 08:29 AM I think one of the obstacles "Ashes" has against it is the fact it's the main song for a superhero movie. Superhero/comics/sci-fi/fantasy action movies are overlooked by the Academy. But who knows, maybe that'll start changing. 1 Quote
gafsa Posted October 6, 2018 at 11:34 AM Posted October 6, 2018 at 11:34 AM The debate that the video or Deadpool that make that song succeed. I think whatever it is, it's a proof that video really help songs become more popular. I don't think I will know the song "This is America" from Childish Gambino if the video didn't went viral, I never heard that song anywhere, I only seen that on youtube trending,So I checked that out. 4 Quote

Deadpool 2 $318,415,522Basically a re-tread, only this time with a much better villain, a bigger budget and the ever-welcome addition of Rob Delaney’s Peter. If you liked the first Deadpool movie, the sequel was everything you could have hoped for. That’s about it, really though its immense success gives succour to those of us who have been waiting years for gratuitous blood and gore in mainstream movies to make a comeback. After Logan, Deadpool 2 and now having seen the final trailer for The Predator, my guess is that that Twentieth Century Fox are all for it too. PS. Private bet…who thinks Celine Dion’s song Ashes will win the Oscar for Best Song? 4 Quote
marc-02 Posted October 9, 2018 at 07:39 AM Posted October 9, 2018 at 07:39 AM IMDB also predicts Ashes to be nominated. That's "predicted" as opposed to "possibly" nominated... It's at No. 17. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls023438886/ 6 Quote
Critiaslux Posted October 9, 2018 at 03:09 PM Posted October 9, 2018 at 03:09 PM IMDB also predicts Ashes to be nominated. That's "predicted" as opposed to "possibly" nominated... It's at No. 17. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls023438886/ I suppose the Golden Globes / Oscars battle might be between:- Ashes on one hand (revival of a former Oscar favorite, very classic grand Oscar sound (e.g. MHWGO,Skyfall), and much talked about and viral song even though with no main chart impact)- Shallow from a Star is born on the other hand: commercially sucessful movie (first weekend above expectations), critically acclaimed both acting and music, song having an impact on the chart. Sounds to me that Ashes may be nominated but that Shallow might be more an Academy Award darling. Quote
joaofilho Posted October 9, 2018 at 04:56 PM Posted October 9, 2018 at 04:56 PM I hope Ashes is nominated for oscar, not even winning, I want to see celine at the ceremony again, it's a good song, what I do not understand is that Bela and Fera did not compete for the best music and everyone is watching for birth a Star, are the same films of many years, I do not understand. pat200 Posted October 9, 2018 at 06:09 PM Posted October 9, 2018 at 06:09 PM i think she probably will be nominated but she has no chance of winning, especially after hearing gaga's songs from a star is born. always remember us this way is pretty awesome. Quote
