JulienMcbeal Posted April 4, 2020 at 06:53 PM Posted April 4, 2020 at 06:53 PM Loved this article. I had no idea "Have A Heart" was a cover. I thought the French version was original to Celine. Interesting how it went full circle to ending up on Unison in English. We should ALWAYS consider Celine's english songs as covers unless explicitly advertised as orignals. 2 Quote Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans
smw Posted April 4, 2020 at 08:41 PM Posted April 4, 2020 at 08:41 PM (edited) Reflecting back on the release of Unison -- it got me thinking about how incredible it is that Celine broke through in such a massive way in English markets when English is not her first language. What other artists became as huge as Celine Dion despite English not being their first language? It makes her stand out even more among Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Celine is truly unique. Found this article. But a lot of these artists haven't achieved Celine's success... https://www.babbel.c...other-languages Edited April 4, 2020 at 08:50 PM by smw Quote
PuraVida Posted April 5, 2020 at 03:26 AM Posted April 5, 2020 at 03:26 AM What do we think is her best live performance ever of WDMHBN? I am trying to decide definitively. Her first Tonight Show appearance was epic, but we don't have it in high quality video as far as I know. 10 Ans Deja? Tonight Show? Others? Quote

I love how the lyrics make it like they are a couple talking to each other...similar to the conversational nature of the Tell Him duet or a song like "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" My favorite line is the whispery "love you so much baby" Edited April 9, 2020 at 09:34 AM by PuraVida 1 Quote

Found this article. But a lot of these artists haven't achieved Celine's success... https://www.babbel.c...other-languages I think only ABBA and Gloria Estefan, from that article's list, could even be in the same conversation in terms of peak fame while coming from other language backgrounds. But in terms of initial breakthrough, you're so right. Gloria's first album was a big success, but she had already been part of a group...and was from the US/also sang in English from the jump. I think it's credit to Rene and the entire team that planned a very careful launch for Celine over all those years--and remarkable how she wanted to be international since a very young age. That said, I think the fact that she comes from neighboring Canada has a huge part to do with it. Artists from further countries, especially those with darker skin, have to work a lot longer on average to breakthrough. Quote

Chantemoi Posted April 10, 2020 at 05:15 AM Posted April 10, 2020 at 05:15 AM (edited) Some facts/opinions about “Wishful Thinking” * recorded in 1989* Easily one of the best duets in her career IMO* Vocal mastery at its finest * Her accent is flawless* Nuances are utterly sublime* WHERE IS THIS ON ANY CD COMPILATION?!? * WHY HASN’T THIS BEEN RELEASED ON HER CD COMPILATIONS?! * WHY OH WHY?* The still photo used in this video is just... breathtaking. She radiates such positivity and pure potential. You can see it in her eyes: she’s in love, and she’s on the verge of conquering the music industry. Celine Fan 77 Posted April 10, 2020 at 08:13 AM Posted April 10, 2020 at 08:13 AM Any additional information about this song would be appreciated It's one of the 3 duets Celine released throughout 1989 to slowly start building her on name in the American market right before the release of Unison. Unfortunately, out of those 3 duets, this one is the most mysterious one. All we know is that it was included in Dan Hill's album Real Love. jpatdeleon09 Posted April 24, 2020 at 05:13 PM Posted April 24, 2020 at 05:13 PM Who picked Céline to sing “Dreams to Dream” for an animated film “An American Tail 2”? It was already recorded but Linda Ronstadt came... again, recorded it since she was the original singer for the first film. I’m thinking Céline’s version is just there in Sony’s vault. I wish they will release the unreleased songs of Céline someday. 1 Quote

In fact, Steven Speilberg and James Horner ask to Linda Ronstadt to sing this song at first, with the success of the theme song of the first movie. She refused the first time. So, James Horner (the writer of the song) search a singer to sing that song. James discovered Celine when she sing Where Does My Heart Beat Now at the Juno Awards. Tommy Mottola refused during the first months to put Celine recording the song, arguing this will hurting the promotion of Unison album. After the ending of the promotion (in summer 1991, he finally accepted. She fly to Los Angeles to recording this song. Speilberg have a gift to Celine for his interpretation of this song. c80per Posted August 8, 2020 at 11:09 AM Posted August 8, 2020 at 11:09 AM I can’t seem to find any videos of Céline performing any ‘Unison’ related songs in the UK In the year of the albums release? Did she not visit the UK (or other parts of the world?) to promote its release? There were quite a lot of popular TV chat shows here with music performers so I think she would have been well received at the time. It wasn’t until ‘The Power it Love’ that people became media aware of her music. Quote

But you are right, the Celinemania started in 1994/1995 with The Colour of my Love. Edited August 8, 2020 at 11:59 AM by comingback 1 Quote
