If I were to release a 25th Anniversary edition of "Unison," I would include a remastered version of the CD. The songs included would be the original 10. Plus, I would add a few bonuses at the end of the disc. This audio disc would look like this:

Since Celine is on break for the indefinite future, I have decided to revisit an album a month (more or less) starting with Unison. Just thought I'd share my thoughts and see if anyone wants to revisit the album with me. Unison is never going to be one of my favorite albums - when I discovered Celine, it *was* with WDMHBN but her second album was the one that was bought for me as a birthday present and became my real first obsession with her. Over the years, I have listened to it a few times, so I am familiar with some of the songs, and have some favorites from it but I'm not sure if will ever be a top 10.

 

(If There Was) Any Other Way - love this song. One thing this album has going for it is some good uptempos! Love her vocals on this. Also, a very different song from her - she's basically telling her lover she wishes she could still be with him but her husband knows what's going on!

 

If Love Is Out Of The Question - Another fun uptempo for me. This is actually my favorite song off the album. Could listen to this over and over again (and often do). I love the message of it. It seems so "Celine" for the time. Not a heartbreak song. The beginnings of her classic "love is all I need" anthems!

 

Where Does My Heart Beat Now - what can I say, classic. The first time I ever heard her sing was this. Love the revisit of it in Vegas (lipped or not). I miss her live vocal embellishments from TCOML/FIY tours, but still enjoy this track.

 

The Last To Know - Another song I enjoy, but it's a bit too sad for me somehow.

 

I'm Loving Every Moment With You - such a dated 80's sounding song (even though it's 1990). It's ok - not a favorite.

 

Love By Another Name - such a crazy uptempo. Those low notes.... Still, this seems to me classic "crazy" early Celine. The live performances seem to show that she really loves it. Never gonna be a favorite but it's ok.

 

Unison - Classic. I enjoy the rap version more. Just gives it a bit more of an edge. First time I heard this was at the Millennium Concert. So it has a special place in my heart for that. Would rather hear that version though!

 

I Feel Too Much - So many uptempos on this album!! It's fun - nothing more. Also sounds very 1985 to me but I appreciate it for its time and its place on the album.

 

If We Could Start Over - Another 1985 song for me. Not a favorite ballad from the album. Probably the least played for me.

 

Have A Heart - Also not a favorite. I don't dislike it. It's just not one I return to again and again. It's a cover of a french song of hers, yes? For that, I respect its place in her oeuvre...just not a personal favorite.

 

As I go through my revisit of her albums, I know I won't spend a lot of time on her French ones, just because they weren't a huge part of my life. Still....I made two playlists for the month. One that is mainly focused on Unison, and one that is more Unison/DCP. I'm putting the tracklists below. Think of them as my version of her tour of the album. Give them a listen, if you desire, and see if you think they flow well.

my opinion with this album, Celine at her best

 

she didn't have found her style by this time, but is still her edgier album till date

 

Rock songs, electronic songs, pop songs and her ballads

 

For me is a masterpiece, a breakthrough, unfortunately she and her team forget her 3 first English albums when comes to a live show

Well, I will say this about Aldo, he let me down regarding this album. Nobody has done anything to Celine's website or social media accounts since her birthday. I was hoping something would have been said on April 2nd regarding the 25th anniversary of "Unison," but we were greeted to silence. I know there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes, but SOMEBODY should have been put in charge of keeping her website active and current. Aldo seems to have done some good for her, but in this case, he has failed. I will be writing to CelineDion.com to voice my displeasure.

At least we are seeing some rare pictures and they are sharing some interesting tidbits about Unison and D'eux.

 

The Unison post mentioned that Celine recorded 15 songs, and eventually only 10 made it. Do we have any of the other 5 that didn't make it on the album? It would be the best thing if they were to reissue Unison with a 25th anniversary edition and include the remaining five songs! I wonder if they would release something like this when Celine is back on stage or during the Christmas rush. I am remaining hopeful since Aldo seems more tuned in to the fan base. And while we are at it, please release the 25th edition in vinyl!

You never know what to expect. They chose about 50 songs. Rene knows what I like. You are very correct in your statement about bombarding them with messages. It is one thing to talk about Celine on an unofficial fan forum. It is an entirely different thing to take the time and contact those in charge on her OFFICIAL website. I really wish more fans would take the time to communicate their wishes to her team on her website. Even if I don't agree with those wishes, I am all for people conveying their opinions. Especially to those who can actually do something about it. So, I truly hope you and everybody else here at Celine Dion Forum will take this to heart and contact her OFFICIAL website!

I wonder if Aldo knows there is a few things he can easily cash in on now that he has had about a year as Celine's manager.

The main one which is still "pending"/"unresponded to" is my alert informing them the "Celle qui m'a tout appris" video is not available in the United States. They were able to release the "Breakaway" "audio video" rather quickly, but "Celle..." is taking MUCH longer. I will be sending them a reminder about this issue tomorrow.

 

Note: I never received a response regarding the "Unison" silence. I wrote them about my displeasure and then two hours later the post appeared.

Thanks! I figured they would be professional as they are with anything else, but I have seen where you have requested/alerted them to anniversaries or fan wishes. In those cases, do they respond and in your/our favor? This is what I was asking.
