I remember that in 2014 for the Asia Tour, prices were that high as well.

If I recall correcly, the first rows for some shows were not even available for sales.

 

Unfortunately, my only wish is that they ( she and her team) experience boring shows with uptight people sleeping at the front.

 

Promoters are not the only ones to blame. Her team negociates contracts and set prices for promoters to pay to make Céline come over. So it's logical that they pass to ticket prices...

 

Oh well, those greedy rich people... I just can hope they will have a bad night.

 

I think that's also the reason why she never tours in some parts of the planet and why it takes times to negociate shows: because she/her team asks too much.

The local promoter pay in total to the artist (with management) to come, e.g. $1 million and that's done for the artist, so the artist has no risk and has nothing to do with selling tickets.

 

The local promoter is the only one who is responsible for ticket selling and setting their own prices. Therefore, although the artist is well aware of the prices, she can do NOTHING (although she wants to lower the prices lol) because all conditions, packages, etc. are considered and finalized solely by the promoter.

well, you are right but there must be a reason why Céline's tickets are among the most expansive ones on the market : it's because her team charges too much. What you say is basically pure randomness if she teams up with the greediest promotors in every country? lol

We have seen in the past some articles quoting promoters who can't afford to make her come in their country...

It happend to me that I paid 250 euro for a seat, and the person next to me paid I think 600 because it was a VIP package.

He only got a bag, tour program, a poster and some laminated tag...

 

Also people should be aware that only the middle block on the floor is in front of the stage.

It happend alot last year that the side blocks just had view on the technicians. And paid full VIP price...

Like me! My view was on the screen in front of me and Celine was quite a lot of meters away from our block. Not worth that price. Though i paid not 600 euros..pff

Such price is like 2-3 times higher than the maximum prices of other countries.

Yeah although many people complain about those crazy prices. But at the end of the day, sold out anyway. Because the promoters know well that there will absolutely be at least 5,000-10,000 people (among 10-100 million population) in all countries, who are definitely able to pay at those prices. LoL

Sadly Celine prices will just increase with the years. She will do less concerts but much more expensive like Barbra Streisand does. But this is basic economics, low supply and high demand = high prices. Celine has cemented a reputation as great performer during last years and she will sell out no matter the price. I saw Mariah Carey in 5th row and I paid less than 80€ I think when she was in Stockholm, same I've paid to see Shania in 3rd row next October. Celine had nothing cheaper than 220€ in the first 40 rows when she was here last summer. Still she sold out and Mariah didn't.

It’s all very well criticising the ticket prices (I agree btw), but all the while people are paying it AEG etc will continue with these kinds of prices. Celine sells- her name sells, and playing certain countries for the first time will probably mean they’ll try and capitalise on that fact. The more successful an act the higher price tag - and Celine is at the top. This is probably THE biggest downside of being her fans - getting decent seats is hard, regardless of the cost. If you have to consider the price (which a lot of us do I’m sure- I couldn’t afford the top category price in London, and only one show too), then it’s even harder to get to see her live. 🙁

Yes it is, if the promoteur want to make the ticket price cheaper, they should have sponsors. As you said, the artist have nothing to do with pricing.

I recently bought tickets to see Louane in Paris and was thrilled that she has tickets for under 100EUR. Few artists that I love charge less than 250!

 

Of course Madonna charges more. Imagine moving her elaborate sets and dancers. They have to figure that into the cost as well as making the diva money.

That’s the exact point. Last year I flew to London to Celine’s show. It was not cheap!

BUT there are fans who simply can't afford that cost, specially considering the Asian prices. So why not releasing the DVDs of all her live tours?

I just hope that after this Asian Tour a documentary DVD/Blu-Ray with footage from the 2016, 2017 and 2018 tours will finally be released.
