The ending note of the song (when done live in her show from 2011-oct 2016) is the same note eb5. She has nailed the ending run several times well enough to where I think she could do it live if wanted.

 

 

The eb5 at the end sounds great. Granted that isn't sustained as long as it is in the lipped anymore but the overall run requires more breath and in my opinion is more challenging.

 

Though the quality is not great and there is a reporter talking over, this performance from February 2008 is live.

A DVD release is unnecessary. They can give us a professionally recorded concert in many other ways. Whitney Houston has never once had a DVD concert but she has at least 10 concerts air on tv or sone form.

True! I'd be fine with a digital release only but I'm affraid we're gonna end up with nothing just like the summer tour from last year.

It's completely true that the show has barely evolved since her last one, and the set list is (with exceptions) underwhelming. And bless them for bringing up Leonard Cohen. What I wouldn't give to hear Celine sing his songs...oy.

It's plainly truth. 15 songs out of 24 were performed already on the TCWT, her previous tour nine years ago. That's more than half of this tour. Does people apparantely seem to love it and love she still does the same show as 9 years ago? That's no less truth, according to the almost sold-out arenas so far.

 

She keeps focusing on the same hits, opening and closing with the same songs she included in the last tour and several others before 2008. They are not lying. But people seems to love it. Only that back in 2009, the TCWT had a reason to be, and that was the promotion and release of the TC album. This time, there's not even a reason for this tour to happen, there's no album to promote, to the point that they haphazardly titled the tour simply "Live 2017"

 

If the article said something innacurate or straying far from the truth, I'd be the first to admit and correct it, but the thing is that... they're right on what they say.

 

The highlights now are four big ballads – the same first three, plus The Power Of Love. And the main set still culminates in Queen’s The Show Must Go On.

I said this the other day too: TSMGO was already performed during the TCWT, and including it again in this tour would not go unnoticed, sooner or later. And here it is... I'm glad I'm not being the picky one here, because as this review is proving, the press is not blind and they remember well enough that some kind of dejà vu feeling is present during this tour again, because many songs are being repeated and recycled from the last tour. And as good as it is, still could be much better and refreshing.

So apparently they made no money from the last CD/DVD from 2013. That's what I've concluded, they thought it was unprofitable so they won't do another one. I still buy physical DVDs for my collection, I know I'm old school but I don't care! Well I guess Denis Savage just answered our question.

Guys I am so amazed by the state of her voice! Damn she can still sing! Just listen to The Reason LIVE. It's so powerful and we can hear that she gives her all. I often read comments saying "oh I want the 90's Céline" well you have it. I can hear that Céline in her recent performances

Her voice sounds very clear and powerful. If it wasn't fir it cracking sometimes in her higher belts she would be sounding as good as she did 10 years ago.

You know what changes céline's voice? She can't control it now like what she does before. Compare her S'il Suffisait D'aimer performance last year to her concert back in 2007/2008. This part "Nous ferions de ce rêve un MOOOOOoooonde" - she can control the volume of her voice before. Her belting voice sometimes raspy but it's already like that since 90's (Look for the performance of Think Twice 1996) but of course it sounded much better. Raspy High belting powerful sustained note.

I think the USF DVD must have sold around 100k worldwide, which seems average at best. The release definitely under-performed in Canada, a fact which I found surprising.

Here in Canada the entire "Une Seule Fois" concert was available in HD via pay-per-view back in august 2013 and the DVD/Blu-Ray was released in May 2014. I'm pretty sure that the fans in Canada who got it in 2013 via pay-per-view and saved it didn't buy the physical release in May 2014. Also I'm not sure but I think the concert was broadcasted for free on TV in its entirety in some countries in 2013.

Exactly! I agree with what everyone here has been saying regarding the no dvd thing. Fine don't do a phsyical release but give us SOMETHING. Like seriously I think this whole time we've been wording it incorrectly to her people. From now on we must specify that we will take an sort of digital release or even just a tv special.

It always suprises me when we justify the success of something with its quality (or lack of).

 

We absolutely can't say people love the show because of the amount of tickets sold. As far as I know... we buy tickets before knowing the show. Same goes for album selling ( a bit different nowadays with streaming platforms).

 

When it comes to the article, there's nothing to be proud of because only 1 review ( and from a tabloid on top of it) states this.😅

 

While not lying, it's quite unbalanced to base your review only on this. A show is not good or bad because the songs are the same as the previous tour. It's totally ridiculous.

But the guy who wrote it must be a fan because there's no way an objective non fan (well you can't deny it's true but don't know how to turn the sentence) music journalist who go to dozens of shows remembers the setlist of a concert from 10 years ago.

 

I think that Céline is appealing to a lot of people of all ages now and is a show to experience at least one. Beside hardcore fans , casual people are not the same as 10 years ago.

 

And if they are, they don't care about half of the songs being the same because it's not like she tours every year. Almost a decade has passed since the last time... they simply enjoy the opportunity to see her no matter what she sings.

Lots of floor seats popped up on Twickets in the days leading up to the concert the other day. I know .. I'm obsessed with Twickets It's just such a brilliant concept, where true fans don't get ripped off!

I agree with this. I think actually there are like 3 kinds of audience attending her concerts:

 

1. General people who want to see Celine Dion (not to mention their additional 2-3 family members) -- They know her songs around 4-5 songs like MHWGO, ABM, BATB, BYLM.

2. Casual fans who like Celine Dion's (hit) songs. -- They know her songs around 10+ songs (most of her hits).

3. Hardcore fans (like most of the members here) -- They know her songs unlimitedly.

 

I think the first and second groups mark up around 70% of the audience (and the second group is the largest one). So they don't care if she performs the same 10+ songs as the last decade's show because those songs are what they want to hear. They want to hear her sings the songs from the Essential Collection, not the unknown b-sides that only the third group (like most of us here) really want to hear.

 

Whether it's 10 years, 20 years, or 30 years from now. The majority of audience will still wanna hear the setlist of the same old hit songs again and again (and the production needs to serve that desire), unless Celine can make more 10 brand new universal hit songs on Billboard Hot 100 for the next 10 years.

It was broadcasted in Germany in 2014, but not the whole concert (only her big hits MHWGO, IACBTMN..).
