Tricey3115 Posted January 8, 2019 at 11:40 PM Posted January 8, 2019 at 11:40 PM She has the Aretha thing sunday shes probably going on Saturday to LA to rehearse and then be there for it on sunday unless she leaves sunday she has monday the 14th off because its the 3rd anniversary of Renes passing so im sure that will be a quiet day for her with the kids dont they send him letters on anniversaries and balloons i remeber her saying that before they do that for celebrations so she probably needed a few days off thats why her schedule is different also she might just go sunday and leave the same day to come back home since LA is so close to vegas unless she has to be there a day before to rehearse for the show. Who knows and shes taking a break at the end of January more then likely to finalize the album mabye release a new song hopefully plus she has RCs 18th birthday on the 25th so im sure shes doing something special for him since 18 is a milestone birthday just my assumptions but about rene i know forsure they do that every year on birthdays and the anniversary of his passing they turn it into a celebration shes said that before. brendanm999 Posted January 9, 2019 at 12:22 AM Posted January 9, 2019 at 12:22 AM (edited) Why is Celine's show schedule inconsistent during Jan?For instance, this week she doesn't work Wednesday or Friday, next week she doesn't work Friday but then she works Sunday. Then she's off until the last days of February. I know she has the Aretha show this Sunday but I feel like they could have worked her schedule a little better. I wonder if she's doing anything else in between that we don't know of. January is usually weird for whatever reason. During the second week in January she normally only does one weekday show (no show Tue, Jan 5, 2016 and Wed, Jan 10, 2018 [which was cancelled and the same day as the Asia tour press conference]). I wonder if the Consumer Electronics Show taking place that week has anything to do with it. Also, for MLK Jr. weekend, she normally shifts her Friday/Saturday to Saturday/Sunday. This happened in 2012 (Friday, Sat, and Sun), 2013, 2014, 2016 (cancelled), 2018 (cancelled) and now again this year. Edited January 9, 2019 at 12:25 AM by brendanm999 1 Quote

maki_Dion-er Posted January 9, 2019 at 05:12 AM Posted January 9, 2019 at 05:12 AM It's one person's opinion. Though I do think the bit is getting too long, the way she is telling it now, it gets laughs, but it's not the same big laughs she used to get. She's making it drag on. I hope she starts telling it quicker or change up the story. 1 Quote
scielle Posted January 9, 2019 at 05:22 AM Posted January 9, 2019 at 05:22 AM On the one hand, it shows a great degree of self-confidence to do that bit (and subject her band to it every night...I'd be so embarrassed! ) Oh the other, it signals a dangerous precedent that, to me, says she might be surrounded by too many "yes men". Nobody around with the courage to tell her the truth when something's not working (like Rene use to do...)You know that fairy tale, The Emperor's New Clothes? Yeah. Kinda like that. 4 Quote

Doesn't she have someone that tells her "zip it and start singing", who is that? Did she fire them? Lol. Maybe she's making the speech long because they need to fill the time? Idk. I loved the speech, always found it hilarious (never awkward) until recently when she started telling it slowly and having big pauses. Just making it drag. I think she should reduce it to about half the length to make time for one of the songs they cut out. Falling into You without the dancing would be my choice (at least not with Pepe) because the others are more vocally demanding. And I just really like it and could be a nice song before or after To Love you More. Edited January 9, 2019 at 05:38 AM by maki_Dion-er Quote

When it comes to talking, the bit before “”You’re The Voice” is also too long. It shouldn’t take that length of time to amp the crowd up for a song. Plus the “rehearsal.” Between that and the “Ashes” bit, that’s at least 8 minutes of talking. Doesn’t sound like a lot of time, but it is. Especially if you’re on the stage! 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

I don't hate Pepe, I'm like one of the people that love him and Celine's friendship/stage partnership the most on this forum. I just ment not with him because he isn't in Vegas all the time, I think he lives in NY and just flies in often. I like the rehearsal bit, it's a nice moment to get the audience feeling "involved" in the show and right now it's not too long. Honestly, as Perez Hilton said in his podcast, I'd rather complain about Celine talking too much than complain about her not talking enough. She just needs to find a balance, if sometimes she finds something really funny and worthy of an extended time then fine, but at the moment it feels like she is purposely making her Ashes speech longer than necessary. Basically that goes for all her shows/tours... they begin with 25 songs and you end up with 68% of the original amount of songs Recently I listened to the bootlet of the Opening night, March 15th, 2011. Even though there was a lot of complaints that the show didn't include enough original Céline songs, it was really well put together. They had a vision and it worked. I said it before... it all went downhill when the cutting and pasting started in 2012. IMO Ceéline should have come back with a complete new show in 2014. Opening night vs last weeks shows: 15 March 2011 – 22 January 2012: 18 songs, but with 10 songs in the medley 1."Open Arms"2."Where Does My Heart Beat Now"3."Because You Loved Me"4.Medley: "It's All Coming Back to Me Now/The Power of Love"5."(If You Can't Sing It) You'll Have to Swing It (Mr. Paganini)"6."Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)"7."The Reason8.Medley: "Goldfinger/Nobody Does It Better/Live and Let Die"9."Spinning Wheel" (Performed by Barnev Valsaint)10."How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" It was 28 songs not including that RTD/LIAWN/BOW and LCMM/RDMH. It was like 33 songs lol. It was starting at 9 and finishing at 11:30, great concert but REALLY hard to get back home especially if youre relying on taxis or public transport to get back to the hotel or if you’re flying back soon after the show. Not to mention how exhausting that wouldve been for her vocal chords doing over 30 songs a night. But i have always noticed the french shows almost always remain consistent where as English shows get rejigged alot. Possibly due to the difficulty of certain english songs such as doing Misled,THLAL,TR,TT,TCOML,TC all live in one show, it was great but must’ve exhausted her. Even if she toured with 20 songs but made it a good choice id be fine 1 Quote

Holborn Posted January 9, 2019 at 03:59 PM Posted January 9, 2019 at 03:59 PM Well, as she have said thousands of times, she loves to talk.. And i love to hear her talk. Actually, there's not a single Ashes' speech i have missed so far from those uploaded or streamed. But i have to admit, after the tour the speeches started to get worse. Now we are at a point that i doubt she wants to keep telling the story but she has no idea what to do instead. The same exact thing happened with the "You don't want to have a hit" story. Difference is that her old speech could last even 20 mins because she was starting to talk about everything during that time. Now we have pretty much the same amount of talking split in two sections, Ashes and You're the Voice talk. Obviously YTV is newer and wakes up the audience more, still it's minutes long that she could sing something else.. but i don't dislike it. She still has something to give during that part. Ashes speech on the other hand it's dead. She has said and done everything. It's difficult to make it sound fresh and fun. If the person telling a story is bored with it, then the audience will receive exactly that. And the long pauses that maki _Dion-er mentioned, create an awkwardness. She really needs to minimize that part. There's no need for her to repeat so much when she can talk about anything she wants.. I'm also affraid that people surrounding her can't guide her correcty and tell her the truth, as Scielle said. Or don't want to for some reason..I do hope the speech time will become less in the near future, but then again when i think about the Recovering and the old medley speech for how long they remained in the show..i doubt Ashes one will change any time soon.. Maybe the audience reaction will guide her to that decision or someone will find the balls/interest to tell her. Otherwise 33 shows left people, hold on! 5 Quote

Honestly, I don't want her loooong speeches. I want more songs/performances that's why i like the scripted speech back in A New Day because it's well balanced.. not too short and not too long unlike now it's so long sometimes it's super long that anytime someone in the audience will shout at her. And when she's doing that speeches that so long, I feel that it will strain her vocal cords more for talking so long Quote

I’m all for her talking, I just wish she’d maybe talk more about the songs and the story behind some of these songs before singing them. I wish she explain the David foster story behind ABM, or talk about what the song ANDHC meant to her at the point when she recorded it. It’s a little much when she takes 64 minutes to explain how hard she tried to perfectly open the envelope from Ryan Renyolds without tearing it. Just my thoughts. 5 Quote

That would be ideal, both for her fans and the people who just go to see her just once..It's so easy to happen as well. But as time has proven Celine hasn't been on board with this thought so far. I guess something like that would be scripted and would end up being extremely boring for us, but for her LV audience would be perfect. For example the Ashes speech she did, june 1st i think, when she told the story about how she didn't want to record MHWGO, was so on point and relevant. She could just tell one long story for a certain song in each show and then after a few shows choose a different song to talk about. Maybe if she includes a song from her new album in the current LV set, she will start talking about it and let Ashes speech go. Also, admit it! You haven't heard her speech for a long time!
