I hope! Enough of the Prince tribute. Or some other Aretha song if Céline needs to replace a cover with another cover

 

Yeah definitely think the Prince tribute has run its course. She could have fun with doing an Aretha segment instead. Start with NW and then maybe Think or Respect! Would sound amazing with the orchestra.

I love the Prince tribute for her "guitar" solo, the rest of it can go so long as she ports said solo to some other song.

Yeah! I don’t like that guitar solo that she’s doing (maybe back in 2007 during the recording session of “Taking Chances” she nailed that guitar solo before singing that song but now...) I like the first 5 seconds hitting the high note guitar solo then after that the monkey impression kicks in.

I'm wondering what show she'll bring back? The most recent Vegas one? The tour one? Or a mix between the two? :hmm:

On the other hand..... if this residency will only run one more year, why change it. I don't see them incorporating any big chances for the final 1-1,5 year.

 

They'll probably wait with shaking things up until the next residency..

What happened on the last year of the a new day... residency again... it was revamped in the January before the curtain closed that Dec.

 

Anything is possible and can & will change when it comes to her ;)

We can hardly compare AND with this residency... apples and oranges. One of many differences: AND had a (big) revamp every year. This show? Only (big) one in 7 years.

 

I agree anything is possible, but will it happen? Most likely not.

 

And again: for all we know the residency does end in Spring '19... then the chances are even less likely.

Never a bad day to cover Frank! (Or, well, actually, I think it was written for Tony Bennett but the Sinatra version is probably the one most people know best.)

We can spend the whole day asking why she hasn't done such things and why she has done too much of other things, but in the end, these questions lead nowhere. We can only hope that someday they will be released and see the light of day. What we have is so much, but only a part of everything she has done. There are dozens and dozens of songs that she records on each album and remain unreleased. That's good news.

 

We can only hope and wait. And in the meantime, great and generous souls like Mr Jorge Calandrelli can share freely their work, like he did to me some years ago. But that's an exception, which rarely happens.

Wasn't that one of Celine and Rene's fav songs? I think she would get too emotional now if she was to sing it, but it's such a great song. Most of Sinatra's songs are. And Celine certainly has some Franky in her!

Well apparently the English Lamour existe encore didnt translate well and lost all the meaning

 

 

Many many songs are cut and i guess is nothing sacred anymore is one of them

 

And she didnt release the phil spectors songs because of a big incident that happend during the recordings

 

 

And as for the DVDS, it could be a case that they just didnt want to, simply as

I don't think Celine will ever truly leave Vegas.

She might pare down her schedule, but I doubt she'll opt out of a new contract. She clearly likes the security and stability of it, plus she loves performing too much to give up doing it on a regular (or semi-regular basis).

And that, I think, is a good thing. It keeps her active, she's never "rusty" from not having performed for a long time when she does go on the road, plus she has a reliable well-oiled machine of a band & team as a result.

Now, I'd love to see the terms of that contract loosened somewhat so as to allow her to do some one-off projects elsewhere in North America, but Caesar's only pays her the big bucks for the exclusivity of it, so I doubt they'll allow much. And I guess that's fair.

 

What irks me though, is that she & Rene barely get enough credit for what they started. Let's face it, Celine is the one who changed the game when it comes to Vegas residencies (I think Aerosmith is the latest to join the club). And a bunch of these artists who have signed on recently are the same ones who would completely scoff at the idea several years ago. And look at them now! Celine has the last laugh in all of this.

And that's when a tour finishes, that only this thread is reactivated again... :P :ermm: We shift from tours on the road to Vegas, from Vegas to tours, tours from Vegas again... and that's the way it is? Is there something else to her career nowadays than these 2 worlds? Will there be something more? :hmm:

 

(And yes, you figured it out, that empty space needs to be filled with new music and a new release... The longing for a new English album strikes again lol)
