Celine (Las Vegas show) [ends: June 8th, 2019] - Official topic

I don't know if I should post this in the Ashes thread but I came across this video and I would love to have Celine perform the song in Vegas with 2 dancers on stage doing a number like this either live or seen on the big screen in silhouettes or something.

https://www.instagra...gged=celinedion

I want to see Celine make the song her own just as when she sings Titanic we don't see clips from the movie.

She should refresh her setlist again. Look at the crowd back in June 8-9. They went wild!

Save the time he flat out rejected Celine's idea of opening her Vegas show with "My Heart Will Go On."

A bit of a throwback quote but i would still LOVE for this to happen. I dont know why but it seems right and seems like it could be iconic. Just imagine.... all black and then a small flute intro from scott the genius price leading into one small droplet of blue light / water.... then comes a shadowy figure with “jack, dont let go” and then just the flute into MHWGO..... UGH THAT WOULD BE DIVINE.

My mind is very creative today :giggle:

Lol think we all have days like this

I love the soundtrack version-think it adds so much to it! Would love for Celine to use that version, hear jack and rose during the song.

I loved the millennium show having MHWGO at the beginning!

Yeah i was thinking of something like that !! :)

I love the idea of just her in a huge gown as just a silhouette with rose and jack in the background as a single blue light enters the stage and then the flute comes in.

Can you imagine how haunting it would be for all darkness with celines silhouette and then out of the blue just hearing ”jack, dont let go” into the flute !!! UGH I GET SHIVERS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT

I so wish Celine would take a page out of Gaga's book and do not one but two shows in Vegas - one in English and one in French. Make, say, 10% of the shows in any given run en francais.

There are so many Quebecois tourists who fly in to see her - so much so that Air Canada has had to add extra flights whenever she's on - that I have no doubt there would be sufficient demand. I remember, the time I went to see the show, there was this Quebecois couple who spoke zero English and had such a hard time getting by and communicating with the usher to find their seats, I just felt so awful for them. All they got was 1min 30sec of Quand ca balance... and all her talking in English... it's entirely lost on a large portion of the audience.

And there are so many fans, in general, who prefer the French material (I, for one, never cared much for the English stuff, though I'm primarily anglophone). I have little interest in seeing the current show again, but would absolutely fly in multiple times if she did a French one.

It doesn't even need to be an entirely French show - they could make it a French & unplugged-type thing, with more stripped-down or rare tracks from her English catalogue (just like Gaga is doing a "Jazz and Piano" show in addition to a pop show, and while I personally have little interest in the pop show, I'd totally go see the jazz & piano one).

I really do believe this is entirely doable, and think it would make a lot of fans - and Celine - very happy if they managed to make it happen.

In some ways though.... she already has two shows.... tour show and Vegas show.... I get ya but will there be enough of a French fan base going to Vegas to make it worth it?

I think they should not care about if there would be enough French fan base.

They get to be forced to like 5 English songs in the French shows.

So she can do the opposite.

A lot of people also come for the voice. And she has some amazing gems in French.

I absolutely think so.

It doesn't have to be many shows - Gaga is only doing a handful of the "jazz & piano" ones. But I think it would be brilliant for Celine (who I think genuinely connects more with her French material, understandably), would be interesting for the band (they're pro musicians, who a) already know a lot of the material from having toured with it and B) would appreciate some variety), and would assuage the many fans who only really care about the French stuff.

When you think about it, a show is just 4,000 seats. I have no doubt she could sell, say, 2-3 such shows in each leg. So long as they market it appropriately and make it clear these are French shows.

And it's like mirage says, a lot of people come of the voice. And I think there are also many who don't care for her "Hallmark" English material, but have a lot more respect for the artistry of the French stuff, even if don't really speak the language. They'd come out of curiosity. Especially if she throws in some French classics from Piaf or Brel - songs that are not necessarily her repertoire, but that people know. It wouldn't be any different than going to a vocal show at, say, Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall, where it's entirely normal to have entire concerts of material in French, Italian, German, etc.

Also, I think her French stuff is becoming more known among the English-speaking public, thanks to the web. People will hear it on Spotify, YouTube... just from random setlists, not necessarily seeking it out. And it's easier to discover this material now, given you don't actually have to buy an album to hear it.

I've definitely heard Celine in French at various cafes around New York, Brooklyn... it's not as rare as it was in the 90s.

Id love if she did literally just the 2017 french tour set list, it has all the french hits plus some rare ones and she can still do BYLM,MHWGO,TSMGO :please: and TPOL ORRRR IACBTMN (not both). As long as she swaps LCMM/RDMH for Priere Paienne IN FULL

Tbh I think I’d rather she did a residency elsewhere, Paris or somewhere. Purely because I can’t see them ever going for that in Vegas - sadly. If there was a new residency in a francophone city think it would be more successful.

True.

But I was thinking of it in context of her living in Vegas and making it a home for the boys. Adding a few French shows to her regular schedule would not be a major incremental cost or strain on her life.

But I agree - I'd love to see a mini-residency elsewhere, too.

Id love a residency in Paris at the zenith or in Montreal. Tbh if it was montreal she could easily do it in Montreal Forum lol

Exactly! Just add some of her French and take out the Prince stuff. I’d be in heaven!

It would be a dream come true if she did a Paris residency!!

I don't understand much French, can read a little but that's it. But I love her French material soooooooooo much more than her English material.

And I enjoy her French concert a LOT more than the English concerts.

Trust me, I do enjoy listening to her English material and see her English show but the French stuff gives me some kind of ecstasy B)

It's interesting how many english speaking fans here prefer her french music more. I don't know if that happens because it's just better in general, if she just performs it better 'cos she relates to it in a higher degree or because she doesn't sing these songs often, so when she is given the chance to do so she takes it to the extreme, or maybe we like it more 'cos we see her perform something else than her regular list. Probably is a combination.

Last year french leg was once more simply amazing. I think i have watched the Marseille concert more than 30 times already :P Ecstasy is the correct word indeed.

I do speak french but Celine had a huge impact on that. She made me study more just in order to be able to understand her french interviews and songs. She really deserved the french legion of honour. She did manage to travel the french language and music all over our planet. I hope next year she will come to France and do few concerts, even one would be enough for me..i don't even care about the price tag anymore. I just want to see her live french performance, even with the exact same track list.. just once and i could die happy then.

Does anyone think any of these summer tour songs will make their way into the next Vegas leg this fall? If so, which ones do you think are most likely?
