Popular Post Davey84 Posted January 23, 2018 at 09:25 AM Popular Post Posted January 23, 2018 at 09:25 AM Without her Vegas show, she would have either continued the promo of ANDHC through 2003 or toured with the album, and another album would have eventually followed in 2004, One Heart or another one. Without her Vegas show, and René-Charles..... you never know what she would have done. I can't have imagined her going on tour with a small child. In all Vegas was the best decision at that time. 9 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Javito Posted January 23, 2018 at 09:56 AM Posted January 23, 2018 at 09:56 AM (edited) Without her Vegas show, and René-Charles..... you never know what she would have done. I can't have imagined her going on tour with a small child. In all Vegas was the best decision at that time. We agree on that right? Vegas was the best decision for her at that time, for her personal life and her family balance. For those 3 initial years, it was the best thing, and a great success. But from 2006/2007 and on, that's another story. And for what matters here, about her music and what her record label did for her during all those years: Sony Music could have done and defended much much more her music during the One Heart album, and Taking Chances album. The You And I single was a chain of blunders almost made on purpose to marginalise her. Then the Miracle album? That was the last straw on top of it. After having a bland and brief promotion for the OH album, interrupted by the Vegas residency; after 1 year and a half talking about motherhood and her newborn son everywhere she went for promo, then an album exclusively about babies? I think Sony already had enough with an album now fully themed about her almost monologuist talk topic-motherhood. With that album, she signed her "divorce" with radios and the mutual climate of understanding that they always had between her and Sony Music; she always having been a priority and at the top of their list of artists to be promoted. I admire her for daring to release a full concept album such as Miracle, and for following her passion with it (if that's what she felt like recording back at that time), but I'm afraid Sony Music did not understand that move, and they got enough with halfway efforts with her. They turned they back to her since then. Luckily, with Taking Chances she regained control of the situation and came back with a new edgy style, new to her in many songs, but I think it was a bit late. She let many years pass from 2004 to almost 2008 without giving any signs of activity to the public (besides her French GH and outside that brief reunion with her French public in 2005). Proof of this is that with D'elles, Sony totally ignored hugely potential singles like A Cause and they started not doing videoclips for every single (as she had been doing until then). With D'elles, Sony had already stopped supporting her on radios, and that was confirmed with Taking Chances and the disastrous promotion of the singles from Alone to Eyes On Me everywhere. That was close to mistreat; she had never received such neglect from Sony for a second single of her albums. Edited January 23, 2018 at 10:10 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... Xpresso Posted January 23, 2018 at 03:55 PM Posted January 23, 2018 at 03:55 PM I apologize to the members for getting stuck in the Javito whirlwind last night. Never again I promise. Anyway, what's the point of all that Vegas criticism and trying to figure out what COULD have happened? It's not going to change anything so get used to it. If some fans still haven't accepted Vegas, they should at least leave the Vegas tread to those who don't mind it.Just saying... 4 Quote
Celineiac2003 Posted January 23, 2018 at 05:46 PM Posted January 23, 2018 at 05:46 PM Taking Chances went nowhere in radios in Europe, and I'm not sure about the US. Nobody played the singles taken from that album, at least in Europe nobody can name a Celine Dion single later than I Drove All Night (2003). It's harsh, but it's what it is after all. If people can't name a more recent single other than one released 15 years ago, something went wrong, and it didn't happen overnight. Maybe not in mainland Europe but in the UK it went big. Like Taking Chances was always playing in the car on Heart Radio or Capital FM or Clyde 1. Same thing with Save Your Soul. You drastically underestimate. Like in Scotland especially people keep up to date with Celine. Love Me Back To Life did well in Scotland, we have an independent chart (SMC) and it was at number one for like 4 or 5 weeks. Taking Chances was big in the UK and the Netherlands 1 Quote

People crave for the "old Céline".. But then again, in the few months after TC was released there was the promo and news etc of her world tour. LMBTL never had that. We all know everything that happened soon after the release. I don’t think it’s fair to compare the sales of LMBTL to another album really, unless it’s compared to an album with similar circumstances. One with little promo after the initial burst of hype. Still think both albums did well considering Celine was away from most of the world a lot of the time - and for various reasons. Anyhoo....... Really hope Celine doesn’t up her Vegas shows after Elton goes. More likely it’ll be another resident taking up the helm. Can’t see Adele doing it, she didn’t even finish her tour. Could easily have rescheduled those last dates if she’d wanted to - even if it was several months later. But nope. Elton is doing one final tour peeps. Catch him while/if you can! If you want to that is! 😂 Edited January 24, 2018 at 07:21 PM by celine4evauk Quote

Javito Posted January 25, 2018 at 10:34 AM Posted January 25, 2018 at 10:34 AM The release of “You and I” made zero sense on so many levels... but so did the entire “A New Day... Live In Las Vegas” CD. It was recorded during a time when Céline’s vocals were less than stellar, and coupled with a DVD featuring that terrible “One Year One Heart” documentary that includes, recycled footage from the ANDHC sessions, and Céline performing MHWGO on a soundstage, lip syncing to the album version from 7 years prior. Not only that, but a huge miss is that “Ain’t Gonna Look The Other Way” was included as the second studio track, and now completely lost. It’s one of her best songs that barely saw the light of day. Also, the single of “You and I” is still available to buy on iTunes and is listed as “You and I (Live)” Indeed, the Vegas live CD is probably her worst live release, and surprisingly they set the bar that low at that time because in 2004 she still had a clear voice and flexible vocals at her best. But the combination of songs on this CD are curious to say the least, because as she performed some of the worst versions of songs like I'm Alive (incredibly nasal) or WAWW, at the same time she delivered the best live version we ever had of Je t'aime encore Even though she retrieved the song for the 2016 tour, never again has she delivered such a heartfelt rendition of this song. Including the riffs she does with her voice (never repeated again on the 2016 versions). So this CD had its lows and highs. It showed some of her worst vocals and the best ones too. And also the two new brilliant studio recordings which happened thanks to this CD? Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
