Or maybe she's recording a new song. Maybe her vocals were in top shape...

Here is my review for the January 3rd show.

Let me start by saying that I have seen the show in July 2014. I prefer the 2017 version.

First of all, the opening song is epic and amazing. Lightning + stage + Celine makes FINALLY a good opening number for this show.

The following sequence until the Power of Love is awesome as well and people love it.

Then it gets complicated. The jazz portion of the show is not good. Paganini has done its time. Quand ça balance is an insult to her French career. At least, sing Pour que tu m’aimes encore. Is it amazing with the current Scott Price arrangements.

Then we have a couple of slow songs. It is good. Think Twice is amazing and the crowd loves it even if it wasn’t a big success in the US. All by Myself is wow, but the playback ending is sad because we were used to so many great endings of this song.

The acoustic medley is very good, however too short. This should be dropped. Kick out Paganini, Quand ça balance, and sing a French song, and I’m alive, A new day has come and That’s the way it is in full duration.

People love the Kiss medley and it’s normal because she does it great. Purple rain is a hit. The classic ending LCMM-RDMH is good. The show must go on is amazing and the orchestra serves her well.

MHWGO is of course the favourite moment of the crowd.

Overall, the show feels a little cheap. The visuals are bad for most of them. The big screen at the back, which was a major technological progress in 2003, is becoming dated and needs an update. Like I said, I have seen the show in 2014 and the visuals were amazing. I miss the Moment Factory animations, which were top notch (Flowers from the Reason, James Bond segment, etc.).

The show should last for maybe one year (ends in 2019?) and then go on a break. Come back with the same formula: big orchestra, awesome visuals, centered on Celine.

The crowd does not care about dancers. They are scotched to their seat when they hear her sing. She could sing the Cheesecake Factory menu and people would love it.

When the show finishes, you can really tell by listening to the crowd that she is in fact a living legend like no other. The best she does is singing :)

I give the show 5 stars because when I got out of the Colosseum, I felt sad, proud, amazed and happy. Just like 4000 people at each of her last 1076 shows.

She is the best performer.

That's the most true thing you said at the end.

When you leave her show in Vegas something weird happens to you, no matter how many times you have seen the show you walk away with so many different emotions. That happened with A New Day... the first time around and it still happens. I tend to always leave that show, feeling satisfied, but at the same time sad; but not really knowing why lol. You feel in awe for being in the same room as CELINE DION the DIVA!! and yet she has a way of having a personality that you feel like you are best friends with her after a 90 minute show, it's Strange.

Also worth-noting having sat in the front row, being in the mosh pit and seeing her up close within hand view, no matter what you think she looks like on television or in pictures or on bootlegs from YouTube or anything, she looks so different, she's so small and beautiful ( which we all knew but in person it's x100) it's still hard for me to believe how strong voice like hers comes from her little body lol. Her face is actually so small and way more youthful looking in person.

When that curtain closes at end you really feel like it was worth every second and at that point it really doesn't matter if we liked the setlist or the dresses or graphics or any of they because she has a way of really drawing the crowd in, she's truly an entertainer like I've never seen before and probably will ever see anyone come close to.

That's why the this Vegas show continues to work no matter how many of us feel about the dire need of change needed to the current version of the show. BELIEVE ME it doesn't matter when your in those seats and she appears.

This and this! Yes!

I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

Vegas is a theme park for drunk people wandering around :innocent: That's what's sad about Céline having to deal with that, but the last show she went very far allowing that woman to come up on stage with her.

It kills me how much you can judge a place you have never been to. Yes, Vegas is a place to party...but that is not what it's all about. At all.

Regardless of your arguments, I think about LV similar. Parties, alcohol, gambling, fair. And thus also a certain clientele of people who like that. I would never spend holidays in Las Vegas. I am repelled by something like that. And that drunken people are certainly increased there, is logical.

@Javito, just wanted to say as a general point:

I do agree that people who haven't seen the show should still be able to express an opinion about the show (setlist, dresses etc.). And I do agree with some of your points.

BUT I must also point out that you heavily criticized the 2017 tour. UNTIL you actually saw it for yourself.

So that must tell you something...

I know you have friends who visited Vegas and were disappointed.

But if I'm honest I didn't have high expectations when I went either. But once I was there, with Céline just inches away looking so 'small and beautiful (as @nmj so aptly put it)...just wow. The world just stops spinning for a moment, I can tell you...I love the tours she did and I do prefer the setlists. But I've never experienced a Céline-high in quite the same way as I did in Vegas.

I don't know you, but what I do know is that you ADORE Céline just as much as I do. And I believe that if she stood right in front of you dancing and singing her little heart out, you would turn into a ball of mush just like I did.

And you'd also see that she doesn't hate it, but she thrives on it, being adored by the crowd.

Maybe just give it a chance one day if you're able. You love her too much not to. Just make sure to get good (aisle) seats, because that does make a difference.

People who drink too much in the evenings/on holiday aren’t just in Vegas. This can happen anywhere. Last time I was in LV I never had a single alcoholic drink. Don’t blame Vegas for this/ you can see it in any city or town where there’s pubs or clubs. But I do hate people who drink too much at shows. Such a waste of a show ticket lol. Last time I saw someone like that was at a Jimmy Carr show, kept heckling him. Anyone who knows Jimmy will know how it ended! Jimmy won, heckler lost and at the interval the heckler wasn’t let back in.

Wonder what the woman from Celine’s show thought about it all the next day??

The strip is ~4 miles long. There's much more to Vegas than that.

I'm not talking about the people who live or work there. But people who go on holiday there. Vegas is an artificially built city that only exists once. And it was built just for this purpose. To amuse people, with shows, parties, funfairs.

Incredibly narrow minded view of Vegas. On the contrary there are WORLD class tourist attractions, shows and dining there. Within driving distance of the city are some of the wonders of the world in the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. I could have a similar view of places such as Ibiza in that the only people that go there are interested in clubbing, drinking and drugs. However I happen to know there’s a different side to that place too which attracts families and couples of all ages. Let’s not judge a book by its cover please.

It's like any place that has a metro area to draw revenue to the state. It's really no different than going to NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami. All of these places have things to cater to party culture. Shows, museums, restaurants, clubs. Even in local towns there is everything that has been mentioned above. These places are for each person, what we allow it to be for us. But to judge a place one has never been to, based on only the superficial things one may have heard about it, just baffles me.

...I was there for several times. I was well entertained AND I was never been drunken :wtf:

I can assure you that in Vegas are no more and no less drunken people than in other cities I´ve been before.

The only drugs I took were Céline´s concerts

The outdoors.

Plenty of amazing scenery and top-notch national parks and conservation areas all around (Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Death Valley, to name a few). So if you're outdoorsy, like me, that's what you go for. Cirque & Celine & all those Michelin-star restaurants are a nice bonus. And the Art District and Container Park are great, too. Plus there's a thriving culture scene - what do you think all those artists and performers do when they're off the clock?!

I do not want to argue and I do not judge. All the other cities you have mentioned have a long history, art, culture. Vegas is a city built for entertainment without tradition. Vegas started developing since 1931.

There is so much more to Vegas than what is portrayed in movies or TV. There is a community in Vegas. Families. The people who work there aren't just human shells. My best friend's mom deals cards at Mandalay Bay and has spearheaded fundraisers and marches for the victims...most of whom DO NOT live in Vegas. There's a lot of heart there. The Vegas suburbs are beautiful. There are families and lives being lived. It's not just the strip. Vegas is "only drinking and nightlife" if you allow your mind to make it that way.

As Celine4evaUK pointed out above, drinking happens everywhere. I live in NYC, and the amount of drunk people is on par with the population of drunk people in Vegas.

So true, I've been to Vegas 5 times and never gambled a cent. There is so much to do and see that doesn't involve alcohol, girls or gambling. In fact I've made a point of finding some more unusual things to do whilst there. The desert is beautiful, there are interesting museums and exhibitions, the container park was interesting and the pin ball hall of fame was great fun.

The Vegas Strip is just like Broadway! :-D

Whoever complains about drunk people in Vegas and Céline's Vegas show before going there should not be vocal about it (to put it nicely)...

That doesn't mean that as a city, that Vegas can't find or build tradition. As it was build for what you say, and I agree 100%...it has evolved beyond that. Other cities would not have their history without building it. That is what Vegas is doing. It is a little judgmental to only point out the aspects you don't like about a place without researching everything else it may have to offer. Any place you go to, big city or small town, is going to have all of the aspects you find negative about Vegas. Just because you may be a little more educated about the other cities, doesn't mean that Vegas doesn't have anything to offer.

Oh, I did not say that Vegas has nothing to offer. It may have less to offer to ME than other cities. Everyone who likes to go there should do it. I do not condemn that. I only go out of myself and what it means for me.

I've been to Vegas 3 times. Twice I've stayed there for 2 weeks at a time and then I spent the new years there in 2003.

For the 2x two weeks stay I also did other stuff like drive over to California, see the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam. Las Vegas is a huge town (for an Icelandic girl) and I love doing some shopping in the outlet malls ;) I have spent a fair bit of time off the strip and it's a calm, normal town. When you are on the strip, it changes a bit though.

For my first stay I stayed in the Downtown of Las Vegas. I rented a car and drove to where ever I wanted to go. It's a lot quieter than the strip. Then I've stayed twice on the strip and it's more busy. But I love it there. I can't say I saw a lot of really drunk people. Not even on New Year eve. I mean people were drinking but behaving and not causing problems.

But on regular day/evenings, I see people with drinks in the casino but nobody drunk. I've never got drunk in Vegas myself. I've had a drink but never drunk.

For me, Las Vegas is my favorite city that I've visited. There is so much entertainment, it's a great base to travel from to other places. I stayed 2 nights in LA but still kept my room in Vegas so I didn't have to pack up stuff.

I can't wait to return!

All I'm saying is that we all have hopes and wishes as to what she does in her career and live shows, and that's totally fine thats normal, but BELIEVE ME no fan who sees her show in Vegas leaves disappointed. Celine simply cannot make you leave disappointed even tho RDMH Has been done to death for me and I went into the show thinking I wish she would remove it and add something fresh that was the moment of the show i loved most. It was the moment I got a pic with Celine, she grabbed my hand and was within arms reach.

All I'm saying is that even tho many of us here get bored with the clips we have seen online, somehow when you go to see her live it works, it more than works its truly an experience! People who are fans that haven't seen the show because they think the show is boring need to go and sit in the good seats lol, BELIEVE me 2.5 seconds in you'll change your mind.

It's weird because the last songs of the show are just surreal moments : Celine is literally singing for you. She's just 2 stairs away and she touches you and she dances with you.

Even in a pub you don't get that close. And this is Céline Dion.

So all this negativity around Vegas leaves me sceptical.

It seems to me that some people prefer big venues sitting on a chair with bored people around while she's far.

I get all the bad things around Vegas. But it's not only that. It's another experience and I'm glad Céline offers both experiences (an intimate funny night like Vegas and something bigger).

Above all, she didn't make me feel once she was doing her 1061th show.

And I don't think I'm the last one to criticize her.

:-)

I know and I'm pretty aware that once you're there for the first time, you'll forget about any preconception and you'll just enjoy the show a lot, but that doesn't diminish the fact that I for one would love her to do other things, many other different things, and just move on and turn that page, see her doing other projects like those we all have discussed to death since 2004.

One thing doesn't rule out the other! :thumbsup2:

Besides seeing Celine and other shows my favorite things to do in Vegas are shopping, eating and relaxing by the pool. I don't have a lot of those stores or restaurants around where I live. I look forward to that when I go, it's something different for me.

I’ll bring my binoculars!

My opinion of course. Has anyone heard what Celine says about Vegas?' It's a place where people work , pray, have dreams and raise their kids.' For her this city has become her home, its a place where she can have a near normal life. People think that Vegas is just the strip, it's so much more than that. Yes people can drink and party, but no different from any other city (New York, Miami, Paris and so many more). In relation to her show, I encourage everyone to go see it at least once live. No youtube, no video, no livestream compares to what you see and most important feel once you are there. Having Celine sing to you and for you is an incredible experience.Having her at arms reach from you is amazing. Once you are there, you don't think about the stage, the setlist, the special effects. You just fall in love! She has been asked to compare and contrast her Vegas shows and her tours many times. She answers 'one is an uptempo song and the other is a ballad, I want both, I love both.' To me , I love Celine in Vegas and I totally understand why she needs and wants to be there , Vegas gives her the oportunity to dedicate herself to her number one priority, and that is to be a mom. She can still perform, and at the same time take care of what is most important to her, her kids!
