jpatdeleon09 Posted May 14, 2017 at 02:32 PM Posted May 14, 2017 at 02:32 PM (edited) True but didn't Céline say that it hurt the ankles in the long run ? standing and moving on a stage like that? I'm a HUGE HUGE fan of the A New Day show, I'd love to see that again or something like that. It was like a whole box of chocolate for the eyes, you didn't know where to look. I think because of the raked stage... i think they can make it work by laying a temporary-straight stage (temporary because maybe in the future shows like A New Day... the raked stage is the best for better viewing) but at least not making it small.. They cut the half of the stage. Now, it looks so limited looking. Céline needs a bigger stage. That iconic stage.. Bigger is better Edited May 14, 2017 at 02:33 PM by jpatdeleon09 3 Quote
Luki Dion Posted May 14, 2017 at 02:34 PM Posted May 14, 2017 at 02:34 PM From videos it seems like just just speaks a few words in French, specially if someone "screams" to her in french from the audience? What I mean is when she speaks in french in her french concert like previous summer show. Does the flow of the story smooth? Compared to when she stories in english? Is there any difference in timing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote I LOVE TO SING...BUT I LOVE TO TALK TOO....!!

Bigger is better First, all of you need to know that one of the reason why they had a raked stage is for the dancers. Repetition of dancing in a flat stage could break their ankle. One of her dancers said it in AND The Secrets DVD. So here, she doesnt have any dancers and there's no need to have that raked stage. If they have that raked stage to get the better viewing, they must have had that for this current show. Before the medley, she talked A LOT. No joke, she went around to each of the band members (starting with Kaven) talking about how white their teeth were. It was actually quite funny. Then a guy walked out to go to the restroom and she said "Where are you going sir? He can't hold the bladder. When you gotta go. You gotta go." I just checked my recording and she talked for 20 min. It's great and fun, but when I think of the fact that they cut "All the Way," "If I Can Dream," "Over the Rainbow," and the "Unison" interlude... I know Céline loves to talk, but maybe we can have a happy medium? Add 2 songs and Céline can talk for 10 min instead of 20? actofcontrition Posted May 14, 2017 at 06:20 PM Posted May 14, 2017 at 06:20 PM (edited) I'm glad i'm not the only one anymore saying that this show is boring. I saw A new day 2 times (i wanted more but in 2006 i was there and she cancelled all week) and i saw the Celine 2011-2014 show 9 times. Even that show was special : the visual was amazing, the opening with open arms so good, the dresses,, the show was clearly classic and elegant, there was a mood. Now its just bad.. I hate the setlist, I hate that they cut so much stuff, I hate the cheap visual, even the french song now sucks.. omg this is VEGAS, the city where everything is possible and they do nothing. Its only songs after songs like a regular concert, nothing flash the eyes, nothing spectacular.. And the talking is wayyyy too long and boring !!! Please bring back Somewhere over the rainbow and 2 songs that she never sang to please the fans and cut on the talking. Oh and the opening I drove all night video is a JOKE! The show is a residency... its suppose to be a show that cant go on tour! This is not the case. I want dancers, flying stuff, special effects. In a new day, every song was incredible like a new world. Sorry but its the first time i dont wanna go to vegas. I want a whole new spectacular show like A new day or she should just stop vegas. So, instead, I'll post a few comments. I'm sure everyone can figure out who I'm responding to. In regards to Franco being difficult to work with, I believe it is quite the opposite. The thing with Franco is that he is a true visionary, a master of his craft. He is the embodiment of an artist. While I understand this is hearsay, I remember being told by multiple people that he and Rene would go to blows because it was Rene who didn't want Celine to get "lost" during performances of "A New Day..." Rene didn't want masks, and water and all sorts of other artistic elements. So, "A New Day..." premiered with a lot less than what it could have been. While I understood and understand Rene's perspective, he and Celine should not have chosen someone who was part of Cirque du Soleil for their endeavors at the time. Cirque is KNOWN for controlled chaos. Now, in regards to Ken Ehrlich? HE is the difficult one. From what I have been told, he has had to be reminded on more than one occasion whose show "Celine" is. He is the one with the prissy diva attitude and ego. He may do great things for TV specials, but a visionary/artist/innovator for a year-round show he is not. As for why there are some of us on here who have constantly complained about setlists, stage designs, etc. for the current and past shows? I took some time to sit down and try to figure out why this has always annoyed me. Why is it when there are people who are casual fans who have seen the show who are amazed and happy that I get annoyed and roll my eyes. I finally figured it out. Was I high and low and everything in between? Well...maybe, but this is what I realized. I can only speak for myself, but I get annoyed with Celine and company for not including certain songs, or bringing other stellar elements to her shows because I know the casual fans could be blown away even more than they are currently. Celine and her team have so much more potential within them. Not just for their audiences, but for THEMSELVES, too. So, while I am more than happy the casual fans walk away beaming, I so wish they could have been shown just how much more there is to offer. For many, they will only ever get the chance to see Celine perform once. So, instead of including songs that are covered ad naseum all the time, introduce something different. Show those people who are only able to see Celine once in their life that she is French and include French material that will knock their socks off, include "Don't Save It All For Christmas Day" during the holidays in a way that shows Celine HERSELF wrote the chorus, etc. I just get so incredibly frustrated when I see so much potential in someone or a company being squandered by lack of common sense, or laziness, or greed, or myriad of other reasons. And that's the way it is. Edited May 14, 2017 at 07:07 PM by SuperLove4Celine 7 Quote

Not because they need to (they are still selling out every night) but because they WANT to! She has a back catalogue of HUNDREDS of songs they could dip into. They have a custom designed theatre where ANYTHING is possible. I too saw "A New Day..." several times over many years and I was in Vegas in 2015 when she went back for Rene. That re-freshed show was really enjoyable. Now though there's NOTHING that makes me want to go back to Vegas to see the show again in it's current format. I didn't feel that way about "A New Day..." as I knew I needed to see that show again. I so hope the summer shows aren't "Vegas on tour" because they could do so much better. And I honestly still cannot believe they are still using that "Be a part of the show" IDAN intro video. I mean honestly, that's ALL, they can come up with? 4 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.

Kyle_Jared Posted May 14, 2017 at 08:27 PM Posted May 14, 2017 at 08:27 PM (edited) I don't think it's ironic that now that Rene is gone she talks 3 times as much as she did when he was alive--and it's unscripted. As much as she loved him I think he made sure she was scripted. Personally, I think the same damn speech night after night she years ago was boring. I like how free she is now to talk to the audience. That being said, I've been hearing some negative reviews. Someone needs to tell her to scale it back. Don't stop...just cut back on the banter. Javito Posted May 14, 2017 at 09:38 PM Posted May 14, 2017 at 09:38 PM (edited) All these comments just lead me to the same conclusion, and that is that this second "Celine" residency should have never happened, no matter if she's still sucessful in Vegas or not. Once been there (with A New Day), done that. Turn over the page and move on to another project (and I want to believe Celine had many projects, at least not so long ago ) I know there's no solution to this now, this second residency is already longer than the first one, but many fans (and a say, many) thought and expressed back in 2007 that they hoped her Vegas adventure was over and that she did other different things after that. Why? Just because 5 years (almost) were enough. Of course things were different and we got that she was coming back in 2011, probably to have the same stability she was looking for in 2001, for her newborn kids. That's perfectly fine. But is she keeping the bar she raised high with "A New Day" with this "Celine" show? Clearly she isn't. This residency is slowly wearing her out, her voice, her songs and now she's becoming a monologuist too because she's not even focused on singing the songs that she herself admits she's sick of singing them night after night. So now it's clear she found a moment in the show were she really enjoys herself, and that is... talking (I mean, up to 20 min!? ). But she's a singer. A New Day was a success that clearly she's not going to repeat with this or any future show because the novelty factor is already gone. And there's only so much you can stretch a thing until the magic is gone, so either they change this show soon, or I'm afraid it's going to overshadow her own success, the success that once was enticing and dazzling for its own merits. scielle Posted May 14, 2017 at 09:45 PM Posted May 14, 2017 at 09:45 PM Well, I think we generally agree the talking has gone way overboard. It's absolutely charming, yes. And it endears her to the audience and brings her to our level (well, ever so slightly!) But after a while it gets awkward and eats far too much into a show which is, after all, about singing. Take her 20-min soliloquies, add several costume changes, and you've got yourself a half-an-hour.Half an hour during which she could be singing an entire plethora of songs we're all pining for. 1 Quote
