Stand Up to Cancer

For the fifth time, the charity is airing

a live fundraising special

complete with a star-studded lineup.

Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Emma Stone, Anna Kendrick, and Ken Jeong are among the celebrities set to appear at the event.

is also scheduled to give a live performance during the broadcast, and Keith Urban will be performing alongside fellow country stars Little Big Town.

It was previously announced that Bradley Cooper would serve as executive producer for the live telecast, and will work alongside award-winning production team Done + Dusted, in collaboration with the Stand Up to Cancer production team.

Stand Up to Cancer launched in 2008 as a celebrity-powered telethon, and counts Katie Couric among its co-founders. Its mission is to enlist the entertainment industry in the fight for a cure.

Four telethons have been broadcast in the U.S. and have been made available to more than 190 countries. To date, over $370 million has been pledged to support cancer research programs, with the initial 2008 event raising more than $100 million alone.

Having lost both her husband and one of her brothers to cancer in the past year, it's no surprise that Celine Dion has signed on to the latest edition of the multi-platform fundraiser Stand Up to Cancer.

People reports that the Canadian superstar will perform live during the September 9 broadcast, which will air live from L.A. at 8 p.m. ET on all networks. Other musicians involved include Keith Urban, who'll be performing with fellow country superstars Little Big Town.

Well, TSMGO was actually written by Brian May for Freddie because he was almost the only one who knew what Freddie was going through. Freddie didn't take part in composing it

Totally off topic, but fascinating history on the song, the show must go on. I bet that's what she'll do, my second bet would be somewhere over the rainbow, third would be the love can move mountains, river deep mountain high medley. I would so <3 if she did any version of Thank You, but that's not gonna happen. And I agree, Didn't Know Love would be amaaaaaazing here also but again, not gonna happen. I personally don't care if it's live on location or pre-recorded, I just think it's awesome she has been invited. She doesn't, in the past, get asked to be part of things like this, so to see the media etc. asking her to join things is sooooooooooo cool!!!

Her sister Claudette has now revealed there is more bad cancer news in the family as their sister Liette's husband, Guy Poirier, is in a care home being treated for the disease, which has spread to his lung, brain and bones.

I'm still pretty dead set on it being lcmm. She loves doing this song at random promo events. Her 1999 special, the 97 unicef gala, 1998 oprah show, the today show 2003. Walmart shareholders 2012, wma 2004, live 8 2005, the voice 2013, every show ever since 1992

... I mean, it's been a minute since she's performed this song for no reason when there could've been a better choice. I'd say that means were due for an lcmm performance and if the show is supposed to have a positive message it even would fit well in line with the show.

 

I could see somewhere over the rainbow happening, but show must go on seems VERY far fetched. That is not at all the setting for this song. Think we shold keep in mind it's not really a "loud" kinda show.
