This is the realest Celine I have seen in years, if not ever. She took out the mask of always being strong and in control of things and showcased the fragile aspect of herself.

 

And her voice soars! And the hair look nice! And I always loved her hands. I am very pleased with this video.

Just so you know I wasn't referring directly to you but you see I don't mind what you said because I know that you understand her grief you just didn't enjoy the video that is fine. I think the only thing I may disagree with you on is the staged bit but I suppose it also depends how you view the word staged. I mean it's obvious she was aware she was being filmed and obviously she recorded the cover song for a reason but I still stand by what I said. I don't for a second believe those tears were fake that part to me seems very genuine and real.

Now how the concept of them filming her in his room came about was it planned? Did Denise just catch her in the moment we don't know. Maybe she really was just reminiscing on the bed with the photos and Denise grabbed the cam and filmed. I mean do we really find it that weird she practically films everything in her life as we've seen through the years. Maybe the idea of putting two and two came together afterwards hence the long wait between the two vids. I'm sorry I just can't see Celine planning such a personal video like that it's just not her from everything we've seen through the years. Yes she's an open book but I just can't see her planning such a thing.

As for her hair she doesn't look styled to me heck when I'm in my Jammies during the day I either comb my hair or put it in a bun.

I cannot believe what some on here have said about the video.

Here you see Celine acknowledging Rene on the first anniversary. Yes the website etc did, but this was from her. Celine has always been symbolic. Certain things like the pillow etc is symbolic, and I'm sure gives her comfort. The vocals are raw, hard to understand in places, but that's emotion. It wouldn't mean as much if it had been really worked on. It's not for an album. The dreamcatcher on his hand, her mentioning Return If Possible altogether makes sense.

Anyone who has lost a major person in their can understand the video. The first anniversary is the hardest. Believe me, it's not easy. And Celine has had the whole world watching her every move.

This is celine singing to Rene, surrounded my things that remind her of him/them together. I'm glad the video isn't "polished", it would have come across cold and that's not what it was for. Celine singing to Rene, missing him, wishing here could be here, and hoping he'll return in her dreams.

RIP Rene, God Bless You Celine.

You know I admire and love and have a great respect for the open book that Céline has always been and is with her fans, but hey, I think this video it's too much. The bed scenes where she appears completely exposed. The start of the video with the pictures and her hand caressing them is okay, that's nice and tastefully shown, but come on, is it really necessary to show her in the bed, surrounded with loads of pictures and specially, crying? I don't think so.

 

And I agree that the end scene with the golden hand and that dreamcatcher, that's even creepy

 

Of course, she's entitled to grieve and share her grief in the way it pleases her the most, but there are some limits...

 

I hope this video doesn't catch the attention of the media too much, because they will surely not say very nice comments about her this time, and they'll have good reasons.

 

I know...they went overboard with this one, I know she was very open about his death, but this corny looking video seems her team is milking on Rene's passing. The dream catcher at the end made it look almost like she is doing witchcraft with his hand...I just dont get her team sometimes.

In joselito's interview she said that she can't dream anymore, scared of nightmare, and the dreamcatcher catches nightmares... that is so sad.

I was incredibly moved by this video. Sharing her life without Rene is obviously Celine's way of coping with her loss. First with the memorial service and funeral being open to the fans and now this video. Celine cares about her fans and the people that support her and give her strength. Celine's fans are a great sense of strength and support for Celine at this time in her life, so it's only natural that she would want to share a moment of this day with us. We should feel so honored and thankful that she thought to share this personal moment with those she cares about most.

 

This video is not meant to be cheesy. It is an intimate and very raw moment in Celine's life that she felt important to share with her supporters and the people who give her strength and courage. I don't think some people realize just how important Celine's fans are to her right now. We lift her up and give her strength and happiness. Celine is the kindest and most generous person on earth for even thinking to care about us this much and let us into her heart like that.

 

Think about it. For Celine to think to herself that the fans would want to know what's going on today and not just think about herself and what she is feeling. For Celine to actually take the time to think that, maybe her fans would want to see her private room of prayer, the place she goes to when she's at her most vulnerable, a place that makes her feel safe and gives her the courage to keep pushing forward.

 

Usually on a day like this, people think of themselves and the person they lost, but Celine thought of us. Celine knows how much we care about her and she knows how much we cared and still continue to care about Rene, so she put us first and didn't keep the moment to herself or with her family. In my opinion, that is an example of true class. On a day where a person could have every excuse to be selfish and all about them and there loss, Celine was completely selfless and thought of other people's possible needs and desires above her own.

 

Just when I think I can't possibly respect this woman anymore, she goes and does something like this and just melts my heart, by showing how, even in a moment of sadness and true vulnerability, she is still thinking of us above herself.

 

Grieving someone you love on the anniversary day and deciding to grieve him/her in whatever way pleases you the most, that's not being selfish at all :mellow: . Including not doing anything at all that day. Or even if you don't feel like talking with anybody. As if it had been a problem if she had remained completely silent today! It's her most private life.

 

If she hadn't personally shared any video in facebook not her official website, who would have called her selfish? Who are anybody to call her selfish for that? That's absolutely her private life, and I'm not considering her any more generous or kind for sharing such a private and intimate video with the world or not. She decided to, well, I appreciate that. But calling this action an act of generosity, wow, that are such big words. You guys are idealising Celine Dion some times as if she was... a saint? Well sorry to remid you this but she's a human being, like the rest of us

I don't think this video was really for any of us. I think it was for René. We are her fans, and our opinions of her music, of course, matter on some level but I don't think they matter with this. She was his wife, the mother of his children and his favourite singer. This is how she has chosen to pay tribute to him.

 

I think I would honestly hit the roof if somebody told me how to or not to express my emotion and grief. It been a year since she lost one of the stabilities in her life, she can do whatever she chooses to do.

 

Honestly, I think in this instance, with this performance, this video, it should just be a thank you for sharing it with the world, and God bless for her grief.

I honestly can't find anything reproachable on this video, it's tasteful, she's just trying to honor Rene in a beautiful and honest way. If anything, I don't like seeing her in so much pain still, but time will heal. I compare this to any of Mariah's World episodes and I can just be proud. Can I say I admire her now even more? My Gosh, I know she's always said she's an open book, but man, this was something. She thought of her fans by delivering a powerful and somehow new song to us, specially acapella! I just watched it twice so I still can't judge really well but what a woman, honestly. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what it reminded me of and this is the video that it most reminds me of. But I love it because it shows her vulnerable side. It's what she's been feeling for the last year, I am sure of it. It shook me to my core when I saw it because it is the raw Céline that we never ever ever see.

 

And to the people who think it is over-sensationalized, this is the way Céline truly is. Take it or leave it, but I am going to embrace it, and keep her in my thoughts and prayers. It's never hard to lose someone close to you, and I know how hard that first year truly is.

If that's so, then I must have a lot of very eccentric friends, because they all have casts of their babies' hands and feet.
