Yeah I've wanted to see this bit again. I remember it but only from when they went behind the rail. Cos I remember sitting there thinking "who are they?", then I saw Andre from the side and then Jean-Seb crying. Would love to see it from when they first get to celine and Rene. Even trawled through youtube but couldn't see that bit sadly.

Doesn't Rene worth to be honored by an official funeral covered by the gov?i am totally pissed by what i read in the news that the Quebecois government refuses to pay for Rene's funeral .. this is odd ,so mean and cheap

 

After years of working hard travelling the world as a Quebecois artist .. so proud of her roots .. and received lots and lots of prizes in the name of her country .. Making a spot where ever she goes .. and contributed in many formal ceremonies and events .. then the gov. sees that "it's too much" to pay for the funeral !!!!???

 

OMG .. she is a national icon and her shows and event inside Quebec is well covered by media .. and being honored by french president as an Ambassador for the french language .. her home land sees it's "too much"?? .. 750.000 is too much ?? shame shame shame .. the fans there should stand for her ..

Perhaps the journalists and those upset in your country shouldn't be as concerned as they are as this doesn't affect them in any way. Seems international fans are the ones most upset by this.

 

I don't see anything that's gotten out of hand. There's been some news articles, that's it. There's many other celebrities that get a lot worse press so I don't see any need for concern.

 

Didn't you check out the many media reports - online & print & tv & radio (in Canada and France mainly ) and the thousands and thousands of reactions on the various social media platforms?!

Social media is a platform where there's a lot of negativity, rarely do you see anything positive. People think that it's okay to say whatever comes to mind because they are behind a computer screen. I take the reaction with a grain of salt as it's a reaction based on a media article where perhaps all the fact are not released due to privacy reasons. If people paid as much attention to real life issues instead of celebrity gossip/behaviour perhaps society as a whole would be a much better place. Just my 2 cents!

Why doesn't Aldo react? It's his job to prevent something like that to get out of hand. More and more I get the impression that he's simply not the right person to manage Céline's carreer. Obviously that whole thing wasn't fixed clearly - because otherwise it wouldn't have got out of hand. René would have NEVER acted in that way when money of the public's involved!

 

I agree. This wouldn't have happened if René were managing the whole thing. Aldo does not seem to have what it takes to maintain that excellent rapport with the world that both René and Celine created. René was an artist and handled life like an artist. I believe that Aldo is trying to do things right but managing a career like Celine's takes a very special person

I wonder if Celine has made it to Montreal at some point since the funeral to go the the cementery. On the one hand, she probably couldn't just show up without it somehow making the Quebec press. But on the other, I've been surprised how well she can keep undercover when she really wants to.

And if not, I'm sure she'll make a point of going when she's there for French tour rehearsals soon.

I wondered about Denise Duquette and Anne-Renee myself. I didn't see or read anything about them being at the funeral.

 

Given that they are Rene's ex wives, they probably went to visit his grave site and payed there respects privately on a separate day. The French media would have been all over it and they probably didn't want to overstep.

 

I'm not saying that they had no business being there though.They had every right to say there goodbye's because they had a relationship with Rene and once loved him and they share children with him. I know from watching my divorced parents that having kids with someone is a forever kind of bond.

 

They probably waited until the media calmed down so that they could pay there respects and say there goodbye's in private.

I wouldn't say that's the case. All she ever had to do from age 13 on is show up and sing her little heart out - which she always did with aplomb. But he did absolutely everything else. Raw talent alone doesn't get an shy, awkward girl with a funky accent to where she is today. Rene did that. It's his life's work, and I'd argue much more of a feat than the singing itself.

They made a most perfect team. Sigh.
