Ok I'm going to add my two cents to this... I think you're looking at the extreme ends of the spectrum. I would say there are also a lot of people that go to Vegas and think "Hm, I'm not a HUGE Céline fan but I like some of her songs... everyone is talking about this show I'll check it out." and then they're pleasantly surprised when they know a lot of her songs but are also really happy to see her do some covers (Purple Rain, etc...) It's pretty obvious that the audience loves Purple Rain especially.

 

I totally agree, I think the Prince medley is something that is good for everyone, the general public, the fans and Celine. I'm not saying the covers are ALWAYS a bad thing, all I'm saying is they should be kept to a minimum, when it's kept to a minimum it becomes more special for the public. "They can say the show was great she did all of her songs AND a tribute to Prince which was Fantastic" and not say " she did SOME of her hits and paid tribute to Prince, Freddie Mercury, Tina Turner, Jazz, Roberta Flack, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Ella Fitzgerald."

 

She needs to own her songs hits or not and its a way to properly thank the songwriters.

That's a show that almost everyone would be happy with. The hardcore fans and the public.

Even through this show has had a revamp... I think it's needs another! I like it yes but it would be great to have dancers!

I think it would be really nice if Caesars Palace had a wax figure of Rene made and put next to the Celine statue. Someone should tweet Caesars and ask them if that is a possibility for the future?

 

I think it would be a nice way for fans to forever pay tribute and remember Rene and cherish memories. Some people might think that it may be be a little creepy to have a wax figure of Rene in Caesars now that he is gone, but I think it would be really sweet and a way for Caesars to pay there respects for all that Rene did for Caesars and for Vegas in general.

If Celine does any show at all on February 23rd, it will a feat of courage and strength and a testament to her love for Rene. I don't care what she sings.

 

I highly doubt there will be any major changes for the next round of shows, simply because I highly doubt she's going to spend much time rehearsing between now and then. She has other priorities.

 

I know most people here love Celine and are just fantasizing about their ideal show. But can't we, just for a little while, drop all the debates about covers, dancers, and setlists--- and just unconditionally support Celine for what may be the hardest show she ever has to give -- the first one without Rene?

This is not one of my smartest moves- being someone who makes decisions with their head instead of my heart- but I couldn't shake it off. And last week I had a Celine dream, which is rare for me too! Anyways, long story short...I book myself a mini-vacation to Vegas! Hopefully whose attending on February 23rd & 24th will be around I can meet ya guys and gals! See ya in 2 wks!!!

 

All I could hear in my head Friday night when I made my decision to go was: "There's only one road I'm following, one lifetime, one heart to guide me..."

 

Bringing back "Only One Road" would be a fantastic choice! What I love about this selection is it's one of Celine's originals (not a cover that I'm aware of) and it was also a single. Granted, a minor single, but a single, nonetheless. If we are to start thinking about adding minor (English) original singles even before bringing in album cuts and b-sides, we could have a list including some of the following:

• "(If There Was) Any Other Way"
  
• "Have A Heart"
  
• "Did You Give Enough Love"
  
• "Water From The Moon"
  
• "Only One Road"
  
• "Call The Man"
  
• "The Reason"
  
• "I Hate You, Then I Love You" (hologram or screen duet with Luciano Pavarotti)
  
• "Be The Man (On This Night)"
  
• "I Want You To Need Me"
  
• "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)"
  
• "Ten Days" (the English adaptation of "Tombre" is technically an origainal. No other person had ever recorded "Ten Days")

• "My Love"

• "Breakaway"
  

There are some really great songs in that list that could still work well with the general public. Songs which would either move them or those they may recognize from hearing SOMEWHERE (i.e. radio, tv ads, etc.).

 

However, if covers ARE to be included in her show, I would much prefer them to be those which were album singles. Covers which patrons could easily buy at the store or download at iTunes/Amazon, as well as ones they would have SOME chance of having heard somewhere. Some of these covers could be the following:

• "The Last To Know"
  
• "Unison"
  
• "If You Asked Me To"
  
• "When I Fall In Love" (either solo performance or somehow get Clive Griffin to agree to do a hologram for the show)
  
• "Falling Into You"
  
• "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman"

• "All The Way" (either bring back the Sinatra hologram or ask Celine to do the song solo a la "Sinatra100")

• "I Drove All Night" (remove the fan intro video and do the song in full)
  
• "Taking Chances"

It's not about being a voice of reason. It's about being realistic with the fact that certain songs and certain changes WILL be ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Yes okay she can do abm and get thru it, but the pictures on TFTEISYF do we honestly expect that song to remain EXACTLY as it was before? No.... i understand the point you make and the other poster did- I, along with everyone, ultimately will be thankful for whatever she sings... but that doesn't mean that circumstances changing won't lead to likely changes. And by likely changes, I mean exactly as I've stated earlier - predictable songs that she has sang within the last few years that could easily be swapped in for some of the more emotionally heavier songs. Nothing crazy like tell him, think twice, misled, etc (though all those sound very nice and over time hopefully will maybe occur, but for the mean time definitely are not realistic). Part of me hope they keep TFTEISYF for the first show (s). Maybe they could still play the video but use it as a costume change for Celine. It'll be hard for Celine to sing it but I'm sure she doesn't want to wipe Rene from the show either.

They'll be a few difficult decisions for Celine to make over the coming months 😕

I had had enough of IDAN after the TCWT, so I was mortified hearing that on the opening night bootleg in 2011. It really doesn't fit in the show, especially when being followed by I Surrender...

If they wanted to include fans somehow, think a montage of her tours etc would have worked better - like the TCWT opening. But yes, not to IDAN for a change! 😁
