Never seen this before

That’s too short! Here’s the full version.. too bad the quality is lower:

It was their first collaboration. Là-Bas... One of my favorites ever.

If “The Collector’s Series Vol. 2” would ever be released...

I agree. I like this better than J’irai où tu iras

The live performance of Là-Bas was released on CD on both that year's Enfoirés album and later on one of the Enfoirés compilations, so at least it's available in high quality. Was there ever a studio version? I don't remember hearing about one, but it would be great if one existed. And I agree, it's soooooooooo much better than J'irai Où Tu Iras (which has never really done much for me).

The difference between the cd live version and the live televised version, parts were cut on televised version like no belting at the end while on cd live version, the only part that was removed was the repeated “n’y va pas”.

the other version of the televised clip where we can hear the repeated “n’y va pas” that was removed both in the other televised version and the cd live version

here is the other televised clip

at 3:30 where they cut the repeated “n’y va pas”

WOW I never noticed that! Why on earth would anyone cut a single note from that performance is just inexplicable to me

The Live CD verison (The only cut here is the repeated "N'y vas pas").

The televised version were shortened. I don't know why they cut the belting part and that certain part

How bizarre! I've only ever heard the CD version so I had no idea there were a few extra "n'y va pas"s in the original live performance. Why on earth they went to the trouble of cutting her mic for just those few words on the CD, I can't begin to fathom - it's not like she was off-key and it makes no practical difference to the performance. Arbitrary!

I love Rosie's show.

Thankful we have so many lovely appearances from Celine on her show at the height of Celine's fame.

Rosie and Oprah really helped catapult Celine to the top in the 90s.

Maybe that part is overtaking (I don’t know what’s the right term for this) JJG’s part since you can barely hear JJG’s voice on that part.

This private event was in 2009, right?

Yup, at Le Mirage Golf Club for Linda Dion's birthday if I'm not mistaken.

Send Me A Lover is one of my favorite English Celine songs.

I hate that it wasn't included on one of her albums.

The Celine Dion album is my favorite of her English albums... so I'm not entirely surprised it was recorded during those sessions.

But it does have more of a '94 - '96 sound to me.

From wikipedia:

Dion's version (with heavily revised verses and slightly altered chorus lyrics) was a "leftover" from the recording sessions of the Celine Dion album in 1992, which remained unreleased until 1994. It was offered for various benefit collections, mostly for women’s causes. First it was released on the Kumbaya Album 1994. All proceeds from this CD went to support AIDS awareness and services. It also appeared on the In Between Dances (1995) (of which profits were given to research on breast cancer), The Power of Peace (1996) (to celebrate the 50 years of CARA), and Women for Women, Vol. 2 (1996) (another album to get funds for the research on breast cancer). It was also included as the B-side of the UK single "Pour que tu maimes encore" in 1995.

Dion's version was issued in the US in December 1996, as a radio single from the Women for Women, Vol. 2 album, released on September 17, 1996. It peaked at number 23 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks.

I love this song, too, but unfortunately, I heard Taylor Dayne's version first a decade before I heard Celine's version so TD's is forever in my head when it comes to this song.

I had to go searching for Taylor Dayne's version. Lord knows I love me some Celine. She is my Patron Saint of Divas. All the way. For sure. But I'll always prefer this version - I think this was before Celine's? It's from Taylor Dayne's 1993 album.

Edited to add: I see from the original post that Celine recorded it in 1992 but it didn't make an album and wasn't released until 1994. No wonder Taylor Dayne was given it to record. She got second choice.

If you have a turn table, you outta buy the If You Ask Me To single with SMAL as a B-Side. It always seems to be available inexpensively online, and it's so great listening to the vinyl version.

Funny now listening to this, it sounds a bit like how Celine sings now, the way she projects her voice with a raspier tone and pronunciation.
