This is my favorite Celine appearance on Oprah.

Oprah was on trial in Texas in 1998, so she had to film her shows there for a period of time.

Oprah was incredibly grateful that Celine went out of her way to appear on the show during that difficult time in Oprah’s life.

 

why? What happened?

I'm pretty sure it was an interview Oprah did that was included on the DVD collection for the 20th anniversary of the Oprah Show.

Oprah talked about how that's when her friendship with / commitment to Celine went to a whole new level... because Celine / Rene went out of their way to be there for Oprah during that hard time.

As we know, Rene is a very loyal person. He knew that Oprah helped Celine's English career monumentally, and I genuinely think they all respected each other. Oprah really went above and beyond for Celine in 1997, so Rene was going to be loyal no matter what when Oprah faced hard times in 1998.

As this article points out, the huge turning point in Celine's English career really did happen - in part - because of her appearance on Oprah's show in 1997. Celine officially eclipsed Whitney and Mariah as the new Queen.

I love how Oprah plays such an important role in Celine's career in the United States, and I love that Celine was the guest who appeared on the Oprah show more than any other person in its 25 years. Oprah + Celine were such a magical, powerful combination. I miss those days.

She had been on Oprah before, but that chance to promote your album and do multiple songs on Oprah's show...she probably sold lots more copies because of that day!

Right, she had been on Oprah before. But the 1997 interview was the big turning point / stars aligning moment for Celine where everything just clicked in a huge way between Celine and Oprah's viewers (Celine's core audience in the US).

Never saw this interview before today. Celine’s a bit moody in this interview... which is rare for her. She’s probably pooped or dislikes the interviewer.

What a terrible interview! Celine clearly states before it begins how exhausted she is, and how she has no time off, then the interviewer starts asking about how she spends her time off! And the shoe question was more of an accusation. "Oh, a thousand pairs you think? Interesting..." Like, give her a break!

One of Celine's most underrated songs. Will we be able to make the music video reach 4 million views soon?

 

It’s a phenomenal song. Only One Road, Think Twice, and The Power Of Love made The Colour of My Love an iconic album... along with gems like Next Plane Out.

Why doesn't Celine's makeup team do her makeup like that..Ik she does it on her own, but for her music video a good makeup is so important..like in Ashes it was a little blur..

Well, at least in regards to Ashes, that was on purpose. That music video is a parody of “movie theme song love ballads.” The entire thing is a joke, OTT - just like Deadpool. So her makeup was particularly blurry and OTT as if it went through 25 Instagram filters. That’s part of what makes it funny.

Watching reaction videos to a lip-synched performance just makes me uncomfortable. All the "Oh my God, she sounds incredible!" when she's not singing live....cringeworthy.

This video makes me feel even better about being a Celine fan. Apparently Christina's loyal fans have really had a tough time.

It goes into detail about how Christina hasn't promoted any of her new music in a long time. Her fans are desperate for her to connect with them in any way... but she just doesn't do it. There was one time when she did finally do a taped mini concert featuring a setlist of really great songs from her albums, but it was never posted on her any of her social media... because it wasn't actually for her fans. It was for an insurance company!
