I've always thought that Toi Sur Ta Montagne and Écoutez-moi are among her most powerful early tracks.

 

I have to listen to Ecoutez Moi again but TSTM is so beautiful and powerful. I long to hear her sing it again

 

Of course YouTube automatically pulls up the album tracks on its own, but that’s the only one it doesn’t do it for for some reason :S

I wouldn't call a couple of "ooohs," "aaahs" and adlibs a "fair amount"... Lets admit it, only Madonna got a fair amount of time in the song, all the other women got relegated to the background. Whether its 5 or 20 seconds (unrecognizable to some) is beyond the point. Lets call a spade a spade.

 

If Celine got time in the song, then she got time in the song. It doesn’t matter how high or low the note was....even if most fans would have wanted the belts to go in.

 

I think most fans would recognize her voice in the song after being informed she was in it. And she was, for like 20 seconds. I can count precisely if you’re really interested

No. Her saying "there's things missing... You'll double check" meant she was looking for things and expecting them to be included in the version that she wants. (so in her head, she was not yet satisfied since there are things she thinks are missing). We know how Celine phrases things, she's too kind and gentle to be straightforward and usually finds gentle/subtle ways of expressing her opinion or opposition. Then Humberto says "that's (all of) it."

 

And nobody said there was a "feud" between them. I think someone just said here Celine "wasn't getting" her way. Those are two different things.

 

A disagreement about the facts of a situation is not the same as someone "not getting their way". If you and I disagree about whether it's hot or cold outside, it is not one of us not getting our way.

 

And even if you sense tension between them, which I do not, the fact of the matter is that Humberto said "if you want to do X, we'll do it"....so clearly Humberto has no problems giving Celine her way.

But you said "fair amount"... Fair amount is different from "got time". 😉👍 Unless you have a different definition for the expreession "a fair amount of time."

I was not talking about how high or how low she was singing. I think we both agree that the discussion is the "amount of time" and not the highness or lowness of her singing... And yes she "got time" but definitely far from "a fair amount" of time. She didn't even get a single/full intelligble line in the song... All she got was oohh/ahh and at best a "scat"... Again, wouldn't call that fair amount.

Did you even read the original comment that started the discussion? Ryba thought "there was sort of a disagreement/dispute between Celine and Humberto? She didn't really get her way here. Maybe that's why he wasn't hired for the recording of the TC songs and they stopped working with him"

 

The word I would use for what Ryba is implying is a feud...Ryba was implying that there was so much tension in this session that Celine refused to hire Humberto later on. Sounds close enough like a feud for me.

 

But no matter what word you use, I am saying no reasonable person would have inferred Celine "did not get her way here". If you disagree with that, let me know.

This song should be much more well-known, it is such a good smooth ballad. It feels like it has Prince written all over it, because it seems like a musical cousin of With This Tear....but I know he didn't write this one.

she has more an international french. the old french is like Edith Piaf, Mireille mathieu, go see youtube . a Québecois style is more like Diane Dufresne in J'ai besoin d'un chum, very different from Celine, even if Celine sounds more Quebecoise in that song.

She will never sing from her home (Some big divas do that...), that will be the closest we can get to this kind of intimate show.
