My friend, Kelly was part of a duo that covered it back in 2010 for a Diane Warren project. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

Céline is such a goof. Imagine if they had let Aretha replace Babs on “Tell Him” and they reworked it as a gospel number! That would’ve been EPIC.... though her “Nessun Dorma” from that night is rightfully one of the most iconic performances of her career. There’s even reaction shots of Céline during Aretha’s performance, clearly awestruck by her magnitude. https://youtu.be/k33sINjn9o0 Quote

CelinesDIVO5 Posted December 1, 2020 at 03:17 PM Posted December 1, 2020 at 03:17 PM He has a great voice. I’m not a fan of this recording though. They edited the hell out of his vocal. It sounds like he recorded it for “Glee” and they put a million filters on his voice. I’d like to hear his raw vocal. It would be more colorful and more pleasant to listen to. Chantemoi Posted December 1, 2020 at 05:32 PM Posted December 1, 2020 at 05:32 PM (edited) Celine and Aretha were supposed to do Natural Woman as a duet for Falling Into You. That doesn't seem totally accurate... First of all, the song "Natural Woman" was recorded by Celine for Tapestry Revisited - a tribute album for Carole King. Aretha did appear on that album, but she sang "You've Got a Friend" with the Winans. This Taratata interview was done in between the two albums being released, and at that point it seems far-fetched to think they'd superimpose Aretha's vocals over the Celine track (which is a very corny, soulless arrangement - I don't think Aretha would have agreed to that) without re-recording the whole thing. It makes for an interesting discussion though. Because we were led to believe that prior to the Divas concert, Celine looked up to Aretha but had never really met her... My understanding, as per the person who originally mentioned it in a Youtube comment, was that Aretha had planned to re-record vocals and they were going to do it as a duet. Not sure if that meant for the tribute album or for Celine's FIY. And I don't speak French very well at all, but her response at Taratata (and according to the Youtuber who mentioned it) was that they were in talks to join the voices but they had to speak again about it... Celine's body language seems to indicate that some talks sometime somewhere happened. Edited December 1, 2020 at 05:49 PM by PuraVida Quote
