Seems like another round of uploads has started! They've just uploaded the Incognito-album on Youtube.

Wonder if they're building towards the release of a new song again? One can only hope.

Which aren’t available in the U.S. Plus, they messed up on the titling of “Partout je te vois.” **rolling my eyes**

I think it’s mailny about money. If people stream it or watching it, they earn money, so the more material there is available, the more money they can make

To be honest, streaming makes barely any money. That's why touring is every artists best friend, its a surefire way to make solid money

yes, but that’s still better than nothing

I think that yes, the artist makes money from touring, but the record companies are the ones who make any money off of streaming. Am I wrong? That would make sense as to why Sony is finally putting everything up - they’re trying to make some money since Celine barely releases new material these days - she’s just out for the touring money. (Which quite frankly she could ride tours for another decade or two without releasing new material so I’m just glad that we’re getting SOMETHING new in English this year.)

Sony make most of the money from streaming, but if we look at analytics shes making $88 dollars of revenue a day on Youtube which is then split between celine, copyright holders, song writers, composers, sony themselves and producers... so barely anything is being made here

I wish I were joking. The way her French career is handled is embarrassing.

Touring of course is the most lucrative... But streaming, though not as lucrative, is the easiest and cheapest way to earn money without the record company or celine's management doing anything. Theyre just milking her old catalogue... Instead of releasing physical copies, which could only sell so much plus production cost... They'd rather just make them available for streaming and let these songs earn by themselves while the exectuives just sit back...

Streaming completely revived the music industry - it's growing for the first time in years.

Universal makes $10mln from streaming every day; their revenues from streaming were up 32% year-on-year in the first half of 2019. So yes, there's money to be made, but of course it gets divvied up many ways.

And in Celine's case, she doesn't get any of the publishing royalties since she doesn't hold the copyrights. Plus her deal was probably signed many years ago, when terms were generally less favorable to the artist (now, labels are far more lenient and allow those artists with leverage to retain more rights, because they all fear disintermediation).

you’ve made a very interesting point. How do you know that she doesn’t own any publishing royalties at all? We know that there was a time when Rene asked songwriters to sell their publishing rights to him and Celine and some people agreed, maybe this further continued and we don’t know about it. Maybe some less known songwriters agreed to sell their rights just to appear on Celines albums.

I think this is highly interesting, cause if she really doesnt own any publishing rights, well, then it’s clear why she doesn’t care to greatly promote her own music or to release new music.

Celine's best English album, my favorite .

How cool is that. I wish Sony would do something like that (the ATW DVD is so embarrassing).

Many thanks. It's a preview of a project that I'm developing since 2016... And Blacktooth it's part of the team. ;)

More audio videos uploaded to YouTube. This time, songs from “Des mots qui sonnent”/“Dion chante Plamondon.” Guess what? Every single one blocked in the U.S. So f*cking moronic. And the apologetic train keeps on rollin’.

Are you monomaniac ?

Hardly. I just don’t put up with stupidity very well. Furthermore, if you think her YouTube videos being blocked on YouTube in the U.S. is the one (“mono”) thing I only gripe about, or talk about on here, you are sorely mistaken.

Remember this interview she did in Jan, in which she recounted story of being bullied in school that made her cry? (At about 6min)

She did a 20+ minute interview in French

Well, check this out. An interview from 1990, in which talks about the same experience. Though back then, with a laugh.

I wonder what this Sylvain is up to now...

(It's about 5:20 into the video)

(Some fun childhood photos in this one, too. And super interesting interview overall, with the benefit of hindsight.)

More audio videos uploaded. This time, from the album, “D’eux.” Of course, every single one is blocked in The States. So pathetic.

It's very bizarre, as the DCP and D'Eux albums were distributed in the USA. So I was hoping that copyright-wise, it should not be an issue.

Oddly and conversely, Just Walk Away, a track that was not on the US version of the TCOML album may be viewed in the USA, whereas I would have expected otherwise.

Would be interesting to understand the reasons. :hmm: ^_^
