After watching that video it struck me that I totally forgot she had done a cover of Alone!

And Alone is a great song unfortunately not Celines version. I think that was a miss. It could have been awesome.

 

Also I think To love you more is such a great song, top 5 to me, and it's a shame it didn't get that much appreciation or to be a hit worldwide.

After watching that video it struck me that I totally forgot she had done a cover of Alone!

And Alone is a great song unfortunately not Celines version. I think that was a miss. It could have been awesome.

 

Also I think To love you more is such a great song, top 5 to me, and it's a shame it didn't get that much appreciation or to be a hit worldwide.

 

IMO, The TLYM problem is the lyrics. The music is fantastic and the vocal interpretation as well.

Basically, TLYM talks about a woman who is replaced by another but knows that the former mate will return to her and so wait for him. Is this the empowerment of women?

I think this is the reason why the song works on stage but has never played on radios, even in glorious times in the mid-90s.

TLYM is more popular in Asian countries. I heard this song on radios before when i was little kid and the last song that i heard on radio that is a celine dion song is Dance with my father.

During the taking chances era. Alone is the most played song in radio in our country and in my school :)

 

They love céline's version :)

She is talking about how she recorded D'amour ou d'amitie in spanish and italian besides of the version we know in german, where are those versions!!! and why they were bever released!!! I wonder what happened to those!

Alone is a great song, very much a Heart/Ann Wilson song, however, I also think Celine’s version is good. Great vocals and good production. Unlike the absolute low point of all of Celine’s releases that is the dreadful ‘studio’ version of TSMGO

It actually did quite well in the US as well. 8 weeks at #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart. It’s definitely a well-known song by non-fans here. At least all the non-fans I know. They would always sing along to the chorus when it came on the radio.

It also hit #11 on the overall Radio Songs chart as well in the U.S., so not bad at all. Almost top 10!

Yeah maybe. But still as you say music is great and vocal interpretation also great. Which should be enough I think. :)

Maybe that is why it worked well in Asia then.

For me lyrics comes far down the list of what makes a song good. I hear the lyrics but I rarely listen to them for some reason.

Thanks! Haven't heard TSMGO studio yet but by that it seems that I don't miss out on anything. :D
