Last night Céline celebrated her 100th show at Caesars Palace with an after-show party with 350 cast and crew members and a 60-pound (amost 30 Kg) chocolate mousse sheet cake in the Garden of the Gods area. The 100 shows, all sellouts, represent the half-way mark of the first year of her three-year deal. ABC's "Primetime Monday" was on hand to film the milestone for its one-hour show, which airs Sept 15. Cynthia McFadden (one of the four hosts) interviewed Céline yesterday.

 

 

We all already know that ABC's "Primetime Monday," the new Monday night edition of the award-winning newsmagazine, premieres on this coming Monday (September 15, 2003) at 8 p.m. ET with a visit to Las Vegas. They'll also air an interview with Céline taped last Sunday during the party for 100th sold out show of hers at Caesars Palace. Now we found more details about this ABC's interview: "In a remarkably candid interview, Celine Dion talks with Cynthia McFadden about tabloid rumors regarding her weight, the impact of bad reviews and the motive behind her controversial new coif. She also discusses the rumors about husband Rene Angelil's gambling. Dion has sold millions of CDs and is about to celebrate her record 100th straight sold out show at Caesar's on the Vegas Strip. Yet she tells McFadden that she is most proud of her family -- "the three of us who are one" -- which has endured fertility problems and Angelil's battle with cancer. "

 

 

Here is a short preview about what Céline will say in the interview given ABC's program Primetime Monday last Sunday:

 

"Many times they send people to criticise the show, which first of all they don't like you to start with, they send people who are very snobby - sometimes, not always, but sometimes - and people who like band, heavy rock. And then they send them - poor guys - to see a romantic show with people who's going to sing a ballad.Of course they're not going to like it!"

Céline also doesn't care if people hate her dramatically short haircut, which she got for her extravaganza show "A New Day."

"A lot of people, I think, think I did a mistake... I don't think I made a mistake because I can always have long hair tonight with a wig on my head, there are times that I like my short hair very much - when I put hats, when I go play golf, when I'm a mommy, when I go out of the pool. That's great - it works very nice."

Yes it sure must have been convenient but the blonde short hair...and esspecially these blonde curls...i just don't like it at all.

OMG I thought that I have seen EVERYTHING from "A new day..." period but I must admit this came with such a surprise

 

We have seen some moments from the blond dvd but I have NEVER seen parts with To Love You More, Seduces Me (!), I've Got The World On The String, Fever (!) and MHWGO in THIS dress.

 

and I have never seen any interview anorexia so directly...

 

It's so great to still see something new and to realise how much is yet to discover. It'd be so great to see at least the songs that were cut through the years like Nature Boy or At Last.... But, at the same time, seeing her awful! look back then makes me feel bad. I mean, it's good to so such unreleased material but gosh she looked so bad and the show as a whole looked "cheap" because of it.

Exactly! I don't dislike the cut, I honestly like the cut, that wasn't the issue for me, but the color was for me.

Because we did not like it. In the interview on the a new day dvd she tells she was sad she could not keep the blonde hair. If it wasn t for showbusiness she would maybe keep it that way

Yeah, I always thought she looked absolutely gorgeous during both her pregnancies. Partly because you could just feel her radiate happiness! But partly because she always did look lovely with her natural hair. Brunette looks younger and classier on her.

I guess they've been filming them all for Rene in recent months anyway, and probably keeping it all in archive. Oh what a waste, letting it all collect dust like that.

It really bothers me in general that the rights owners here (Sony / Caesar's / AGE / etc.) are just sitting on such a treasure trove of stuff, be it concert footage or otherwise. So much recorded and unreleased material. No incremental marketing spend needed here if they're not expecting to monetize it anyway, so why not let us have at least a slither of what they've got? Distribution is so cheap now. Really, they could be doing so much more with what they have.
