One of my "little birdie" contacts told me that they have now "pencilled" in late March/ early April for the album release.

So not confirmed, but working to this time frame at present after the last 2/3 weeks :)

Actually, they already pencilled that down back in June (according to my contacts). But nice to know that still seems to be the case B)

Well they need to "un-pencil" it as a release any time prior to November will not sell well.

It may not sell as much, but the chances for it going to #1 are higher.

She needs to bid a farewell to a US #1 - I don't think she can get that. The US market is so inconsequential to her these days anyway.

Further, she's probably guaranteed a #1 in Canada, Netherlands, Belgium and France.

The only other market she really has a chance of becoming #1 in is the UK isn't it? And she could do that in Q4 with the right week.

Anyway, I personally would rather a 1.5 million seller (ala LMBTL) with good chart peaks (top 3/5) than an album that sells half of that but gets a couple more #1s.

i wish the english album in spring 2018, then a FRENCH christmas album fall 2018, new french album summer 2019 and double bluray from vegas december 2019 (with the 2011 and 2018 show)

that would be a dream

A Xmas album in French is impossible because Xmas albums aren't successful at all when sung in French...

I think people are very interested in her right now. I think she could sell well either way.

It's appearances like that that rake in album sells and promotes her. I don't know if during February and March there'd be the same energy after Christmas. The market has all changed so much.

That's the key part here - regardless of what interest there is, the market would still prevent her from selling what she could during Q4.

There is a reason that her last English studio album to be released outside of Q4 was in 2003.

I think a March or April release is better than November this year. She would be too crowded out..Taylor, Eminem, Shania, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Sia's new Christmas Album, Eminem.....Celine would be lost in the shuffle.

Plus, in the US her last release in November tanked anyway. I think LMBTL sold under 300K in the USA in total. Very poor sales. I have a feeling this new release will fare even worse. Not trying to be pessimistic but I think she will have very hard time selling 100K opening week given her last album opened with 77K and that was 4 years ago.

UNLESS she does a major major shift with her core audience and the first single sounds more like the old Celine her older audience (such as Striesand fans) and might buy it.

If she comes back with some crazy sia wanna be sound she's tanking.

I personally cannot wait for the new record but I think the America is sketchy. She'll have major support like Wayne said from Canada and the UK. Maybe France.

A #1 album all over the world means lots of free promotion so I think that releasing the album in march is better than november.

Celine sold millions and millions in the last decades. It's time to collect #1s and awards!

Madonna releases her album when nobody releases it (like january). The result is several #1 albums and singles.

If they play it smart, and keep her in the media leading up to the release, the album could hit big. People have their eyes on her hard after this summer. She was in the news or on blogs, literally every day. People are interested. They want to hear what's next.

Also, the concept of this album has been very "hush, hush." We havent been given any info on a direction or a theme. Which was the mistake they made with the last album. They told us their plans, they got scrapped, and people lost interest because it took too long to release. I think we are in for a surprise.

We were talking more of November/Fall 2018 lol

I'm kinda glad it isn't released this year for the reasons you mentioned.

IMO they should release it on her bday. It's a very special occasion this time and it will give her free publicty. And it will surely get her to #1.

Plus that way she can perform the new single at the Grammy's (and 'How Does A Moment Last Forever' at the Oscars).

And usually's she's off around her bday (last year she gave her last Vegas show March 12th and returned May 18).... she can do promo before and around the release date. Even go to Europe in April to promote it. And do another mini-tour in the Summer to promote the album... B)

She's still "hot" at the moment and I'm afraid that it will less in Fall '18...

I'm tired of November releases for her albums. With all the holidays going on she barely promotes, never releases singles. Basically there's a window of one or two weeks where she schedules a couple performances and by time January comes around she's totally done with the album.

I would like to see her do a March release, ride the hype through spring and summer releasing 4 singles at least and really solidly trying to promote them and the album a bit.

THANK YOU!

Well to be fair, this mostly applies to LMBTL and while on one hand they (Sony) messed up the promo (timings), we all know why the promo stopped by in December..

And for TC, there was a LOT of promo and of course the world tour. Same for 'Sans Attendre'.

There wasn't a lot of promo for TC in the US. Not as much as there should have been. They were labeling the album as a "comeback." It did not get the "comeback" treatment though. But it got lost in holiday shuffle. They should have released in September.

If she releases in March, she's no better off than if she releases in November - as she's tied to Vegas. She has just over 6 weeks off between the end of her March dates and the beginning of her May dates, which is roughly the same time she has off in December. She could release it in March, do 4 weeks of promo only for the album to die why she's fulfiling her Vegas dates. 4 weeks of promotion in March/April will probably reap half the success 2 weeks of promo does in November.

At least if she does release in November, she has the benefit of Q4 sales. I also don't get what you think an earlier release will mean with regards to promotion - why do you think she'll do more promotion in March than in November? It's all very wishy-washy - we set expectations that she can't meet which only serves to feed our sense of disappointment. :giggle:

She's a veteran act and IMO - that means there's a ceiling to her success in anglophone markets.

She should release it in march, do the promo before vegas, a mini tour and promo about the album in the summer and promote it in november so that means 1-2-3 singles minimum! I'm also tired of the november release that get lost with alllll the other releases AND the radio playing christmas song so the album have like 2 days to shine lol

Let it shine all the year with more than 1 single!

Keep it alive : dont kill the album in november with only 1 single!

Well 2 things.... she did do some big promo... CBS Special, Oprah, Larry King, American Music Awards, World Music Awards and so on, AND there was the tour announcement and the Vegas DVD, so she had a lot of exposure in that period.

The other thing....they tried a different approach initially: they'd market her without her name. Sending TC (and Alone in the UK) to radio stations without mentioning the artist. As she was still "plagued" by the "MHWGO paradox" and they wanted to break that wall down (and failed). So there was quite the effort promoting her for TC in the US (unlike with LMBTL).

I think it has more do with it not being drowned because of other big releases, which is usually the case in Q4.

I've said this before, but I think there was a TON of promotion of LMBTL in the US -- at least as much as we can expect from 2000's Celine. Right around the release in November, she did Jimmy Fallon, The View, Today, QVC, Dr. Oz, CBS This Morning, Extra. Not to mention all the shows she did around the single release: Jimmy Kimmel, Access Hollywood, Extra, Today, Larry King, ET, Ellen. Plus, The Voice, which EVERYONE here wanted her to do, but which didn't make that much difference. And the Home for the Holidays concert. And the paid placement of LMBTL on AC stations once an hour on release day. And the 3-day press junket when she did about a million radio and print interviews.

She did a lot of promo, and it didn't matter - Americans just didn't buy the album - sometimes that just happens. The song LMBTL just didn't catch on here at all (did in the UK, though, where she did less promo -- but it's still a lot when add to all the US promo she did -- X Factor, Jonathan Ross show, Strictly Come Dancing, Wetten Das). There are probably other appearances I'm forgetting.

Honestly, given how very rare her appearances (other than her own shows) have been since Rene passed away, I doubt that we'll get nearly as much promo for the next album. I'd love to be wrong, but I can't imagine there's any way she's going to do *more* promo for the next album than she did for LMBTL. She did very little promo for Encore Un Soir (again, other than her own concerts). And she's always said she dislikes the promo whirlwind.

But I really, really miss the Celine interviews. It's been SO long since we got an interview longer than a 2-minute snippet.

I wish she does this album the same way she's done her fashion this summer - go all the way in any wacky direction but really go for it!

Not take one step in this musical direction, thinking about going another way but never really daring to take the step fully, put in a bunch of fillers which are "safe" but says absolutely nothing and we end up with just another one like any of her latest English albums....

If she goes Sia, go Sia with more than ONE track. Don't go choclate for the first single and let the rest of the album taste like sallad....

Amen!❤

My point was that it's nothing compared to the promo that some on this forum are used to. The AND DVD had nothing to do with promoting the TC album. In the US (unfortunately) the WMAs don't mean shït, unless it's being held here. Sad but true. Larry King was about to be going off the air, so his ratings weren't what they used to be. To be totes as a "COMEBACK ALBUM," "Taking Chances" was not given the life it deserved. It honestly was the "Delles" of her English career.

As far as being visibly promoted, they lost their luster within the holiday season. Radio air play and television focus specifically on the holidays in November and December. Within those two months, for holiday fare, she was only seen on the broadcast for the Rockefeller Tree Lighting. At this point in Celine's career, if her team is looking for heavy exposure, she should release at a time where she's guaranteed a number 1 album. She's been highly visible for the past year and a half. They should strike where the iron is hot. Exposure VS holiday sales...I think people are interested enough to give her next album a decent life. Release earlier in the year.
