Celine is an icon... She's a living icon... So... she can create and release new classics!

With TC album it was if she wanted to sound like Kelly Clarkson, with LMBTL, she wanted to sound like Adele. The only reason we didn’t get WAAF as the lead single with her fired out voice as she calls it was because of that fight with that idiot, Merriweather.

 

I want her to be her. Yes, try new things but sound and sing like Celine. ANDHC had many different genres but it was 100% her. And magical.

SO GLAD we didn't get WAAF as the lead single, the album WOULD FLOP even MORE.....NO ONE cares about boring ballads anymore, Céline fans shouldn't want her to flop again, but that's what's happening, what's the sense with wanting her to record these same old boring songs (((

I agree Celine needs to be herself and do whatever she believes she has to. I also think she needs a fresh sound, but still in her style.

 

Topping charts is not a fact of quality only, is also about GOSSIP(press), new & fresh image. In fact, sadly looks that voice is the less important issue.

Music in USA is about a moment, a moment that comes only once and then never comes back.

None of the old school Divas are still topping chars these days, (Cher, Shania, Mariah, Madonna etc) Mariah had a little moment with the EmOfMi (a decade ago)... but was just that a little moment and later completely forgotten.

 

Gaga moment is also gone. Even Kate Perry which is in the new generation is going down (No matter if I like her or not). TSwift is having hers now, but she knows that soon it will fade away, so she is changing and bringing new things everytime to hold on. She exposes all of her life in the spotlight like only madonna did once.

Adele is maybe an exception, and she doesn't even care, she does not try to fit in the industry. But don't forget she is still a NEW face (To me that's the point).

In the last years only 2 woman (correct me if I'm wrong) have topped the charts in US consistently: Swift and Adele. A hard moment for female artists.

 

If it was about quality Barbra or Celine were still the queens. But is more than that, songs are not the products , artists are the product. They need to sell themselves, be fresh, bring amazing videos and produce lots of press news (like Swift is used to do with her personal life).

 

Audiences change quickly and they get saturated after seeing you for a while, after that they forget you forever.

 

So I love Celine, and she is still the best to me. But, She won't top the charts as in the 90's no matter how she sounds or what she does.

So I rather see hear her soul in her records. LMBTL album is easy forgettable to me just because she does not sound like herself in most of the songs.

 

By the way, I think that the Pepe tale and the fashion thing made it so well for her image, It was her highest press popularity in this decade.

AS AN ARTIST Céline's aware she can REIVENT HERSELF and her sound, it's not about "not sounding like she used to".... It's about being visionary and ABLE to fit her music in the new generation, SO GLAD Céline sang LMBTL and some fresh songs on her last album, I hope the new album to be as modern & fresh as LMBTL, SLS & Save Your Soul....No one would buy an album full of boring ballads in 2018, we aren't in the 90s anymore

I don't think I've ever heard anything from Sam Smith so reserve judgement, but I truthfully hope not. We've waited a long time for new English material from Celine. I don't particularly want a new record diluted by other artists. If she released new music every year, by all means. Do a full duets album. But as it stands, with a ~5 year wait between records, I just want Celine.

It is a long standing joke that when someone has info without sources that "a little birdie told them" so hence the birdseed for the birdie remark.

She did incredible this year raising her status and it was the perfect time release something new.... just a single to keep us going and while people were interested...

 

I hope they don't wait too long..

i know this is not likely and sony probably won't want to spend that much money on video (they don't even want to spend for 1 video...) but i can dream right lol
