"Courage" album - Official Topic

I love the video, it is pure and simple, making a difference with the strong lyrics and interpretation

The problem with the video is that the song is somewhat soaring and defiant....and yet, the video is understated. A mismatch.

I just have a really good feeling about this album release . The critics are loving her right now and I’ve seen awesome reviews for this album. She’s going to have an awesome year at 2020 !!

All the time I thought things would happen enada, I thought they would merge color images with black and white, as they did in the ALL By MYSELF clip and nothing happens.

In the last chorus I thought everything was going to be colored, fire would come out of the floor, nothing else happened.

Anyway, at least we have a video clip of celine.

What I don't understand is why in most of their videos they don't strive to make a good video, it's always Celine alone behind the green screen.

More is what we have for today.

I will not raise expectations for the LD video, because I know it will be a simple video with Celine alone.

Celine had never said that. She only sad it was the studio for the shooting of the MV from LD. Nothing more.

Don’t get me wrong. I am the first one to admit that Celine’s time for having a smash single are way over. BUT, if you are going to put out such an “edgy” album, not just one or two songs on an otherwise ballad-filled album as in the past, then go for the jugular and have the courage to release material that represents it best.

 

The problem with Sony is that they always tried to cast the widest net with very “artistically” disappointing results.

 

Best example: LMBTL album. Clearly had no direction or focus. It started off modern-sounding and made a complete 360 half-way in.

 

The LMBTL album is a bad example to compare to any other release, because it did at first have a concept and direction when it was pitched as “Water and a Flame.” Sony apparently didn’t like the final product and had the entire direction switched, but they had a deadline to get the album out. They added LMBTL, maybe a couple of other songs last minute and did their best to mix and match and shoved the album out. They had no choice. The album had to be released. It had been postponed more than once. The reason for it’s lack of direction and final result was due to multiple postponements, a deadline and the rush to meet that deadline.

I think they've been very well made videos despite the simplicity. When you start doing other things it ends up looking cheap. I think I'd rather these kinds of videos than something like Incredible which sort of is just.... nothing. There's what, some random inspirational moments + a giraffe?

 

Going back through her videography, I honestly can't say she's had a ton of well made videos and in fact often they are never as good looking as what she's put out for Courage so far.

Considering that she had whole albums with no videos, I am glad they are releasing a couple of them. I will enjoy them with no complain.

It is stupid to expect very elaborated and commercial videos... with the exception of IACBTMN Céline has never done that before!

 

BTW, I think that the B&W thing is intended to make her look younger the easiest and cheapest way.

Ironic since she is proud of her imperfections now.

Exactly. I don't think she's ever done much of what people want.... like people said "Oh this reminds me of Single Ladies and the song is better" How can you compare Courage to Single Ladies at all? Not even in the same genre at all. D: I think she is in a position where she is probably never going to do anything like other female soloists but that's not really Celine at all because the songs carry vs. the video building up the songs.

I like the fact that they showed her beauty ,and her unbelievable body , I mean the walking was amazing,

I said it it before I love the feminine Celine more than the hitting chest athletic Celine attitude and that was totally feminine and those walks with the right dress really made it for me ,I mean for me the most important thing her to be looking her best, cause some directors really don’t know how to show her beauty ,she needs certain things angles to be done and that director did a great job 👍🏻👍🏻

It’s a very nice video, very elegant and classy. I believe they didn’t want to overdo it in order to keep the audience focused on the song; the beautiful arrangement and exquisite lyrics. Sometimes less is more and this is just perfect simplicity.

Their only getting that ONE view from me. I don’t need to see Celine walking around a white-wall in b&w... I can just listen to the audio lol.

A shame really, because they could’ve really made that song special; they should’ve showed Celine sitting there in that room with a huge projection on the wall showing René and her life through video.

 

This goes to show how different tastes are. The idea of including footage of Rene... horribly corny, embarrassing and tasteless. So glad they didn't go down that route and delivered such a beautiful and subtle video instead.

Having read through many posts here, I must say I'm really excited for Friday.

 

I have been a fan of Celine for ages and usually prefer her French work, given how incoherent her English albums tend to be. When FOMO came out, I was properly frustrated (what an annoying song) but seeing that FOMO is apparently not at all representative of the album and listening to the three other more than decent songs made me more hopeful again.

 

And then all the comments here... now I am almost worried I have too high expectations. Let's see, only two more days.

Someone commented very positive on the video and they had a beautiful description of it. They said this is beautiful art where music and sound fit perfectly. Because this is how you feel when you loose someone and your finding courage to move forward.. You feel isolated you feel empty and alone...your world can start looking black and white... After hearing that I started thinking about the video clip content its about hard times in life you face and can feel isolated and maybe a inner dialogue your having with yourself telling courage not to fail you.. There fore the black and white and empty room and playing beautifully in light and black and white.. I see beauty in its simplicity, and its different... I find it very strange that there haven't been released previews of the songs on the official site, amazon, fnac, etc.

 

Do they want to keep the audience in suspense when the album has already been leaked? AH, AH, AH!

I got tickets to the Thanksgiving parade recording, so excited. I'm wondering though if it's a recording with only Celine or if there will be other performers pre-recording the same day. The ticket only mentions Celine though so maybe she'll be performing more than one song?
