"Courage" album - Official Topic

When I was at the Cleveland show a couple weeks ago. I wrote here that I heard part of her sound check, and told everyone how great she sounded on “The Reason”...... and I ALSO, said I heard her singing these lines..:: “I can’t believe I’m falling in love once again, I can’t believe I’m falling in love; but I am “ she kept singing those lines... now I know where it’s from lol; however I don’t know if she was rehearsing it or just warming up to it, if that’s the case, I’d rather buy tickets for her Sound check, it seems like a better show LOL.

 

Maybe she'll later add that song in her setlist for this tour

Having heard all 20 tracks now, I do think the album maybe suffers from being a little bit too long to digest all at once. On the plus side, it's a very modern sounding album, no covers and I won't get bored of it quickly. I'm glad she's experimented and pushed the BOUNDARIES of her sound with this album.

 

"Baby" is by far my favourite and needs to be a single, it will appeal to the masses.

OMG totally agreed. What the heck!!! Why would they banish the best songs into a limited edition?

 

This is what I was hoping for. This is what I call evolution. Cause you can sound modern and still produce high quality material we’re used to

Cause most of the regular edition songs we heard yesterday - I can’t even deal. Don’t get me started on those, just garbage.

I think new songs can be embedded to the set-list.

 

We could have full performances of Lying Down, Courage, Imperfections, For The Lover That I Lost. I think this last song will shine live and the audience will love it just like they loved ALPHB from Encore Un Soir. The general public always falls for her piano ballads. And then the Karaoke mess medley can be replaced by a medley of the up-tempo songs of the album: Flying On My Own / Change My Mind / Nobody's Watching / Baby. IMO everyone will be happy then - it is quite a change but a feasible one.

Feasible if you, or I was her manager... but what you mentioned could easily work but they just won’t do it.

 

The uptempo medley should be her new songs not some random karaoke session. I’m even cool with a couple new upbeats like “how did you get here” and the others with something IDAN and “Declaration Of Love”

I’m patiently waiting for the official release but can’t avoid reading certain things online and all over social media due to the fact that I’m so heavily integrated into everything Celine so can those who have listened to the album tell me if the full album is boring, monotonous and sad? These are the comments that keep popping up everywhere. I was so sure Celine herself said somewhere that she didn’t want the album to be depressing. Are there no uptempo’s or uplifting songs at all, no soaring vocals?? I’m trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible but I’m extremely worried now as all I’ve seen so far are negatives and of course this has now affected my excitement during this final countdown to release day. It’s a different album but it is good, I can’t say I love it...yet 🙂 maybe it’s a grower...but there are some great tracks on the album...soaring vocals and acrobats not so many but it is current, I think it’s something for everyone but classic Celine it is not but we should have expected this with her fashion choices lately...my brother who is also a big fan of classic Celine is on the fence with this album, he likes sone tracks

The album isn’t depressing but it is deep.

It’s not depressing. Kind of empowering for her. It’s so different from her English catalog.

Like her filter is off, where she is at in her life right now. Realizing she has power to speak for herself. Yeah Deep!

Outside this board, the old fan base are deeply divided - expected Celine going back to roots

hoping to hear some AND flavors and those bombastic soaring ballads,

but she wanted to shake the stable ship and for once crafted the album the way she wanted.

She never can win, if she will sound the "same" as always, people will once again say "She is boring"

but she did amazing job with this album and guess what, people still think she is boring

for whatever reasons they find.

 

If I still crave for those songs that transform you to another world - yes, I sure do

but this is a new Celine, wanting to sound modern and cool, wants a new fresh "start"

with her music career I guess, and she sure achieved that

She is reinventing herself and nowdays popular than even before

(Who would have thought about this to happen?)

I'm happy that she is getting new fans after all those years.

 

I find this album nothing like depressing, most over it has a good balance

and I could live without FOMO after getting the whole picture of this album

Now Dear Celine should get many of the wise vocal tunes into the setlist.

 

For once they are doing things right, it just need to be applied to the Tour:)

I just need TTWII-like songs right now and not a dark and depressing album.

Not depressing. Not TTWII type songs either... more soulful and deep.

I don't think it's a depressing album. I think a lot of the subject matter is deep with a darker tone - but there's some lovely uplifting moments on most of the slower tracks. I think her most depressing song in recent years has been "Recovering" (although I really like it) and I wouldn't say there's anything to the tone of Recovering on the album. It's more like she's trying to find the light in the dark and the mid-tempos really push the album forward and give it a lighter, happier tone. Maybe people think that because of the leading singles Courage and LD?

I find not few tracks to be optimstic, positive-vibes and enjoyable for dancing

but will have to wait to see the full lyrics in order to get a better percepción

of the songs as for their message (It's not always easy to understand her).

I decided to wait a bit longer this time, I was so disappointed with the early leak that I wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway. I just want this album to do well, but reading all the good reviews (not only on this forum) I think it will
