Popular Post Nmj Posted November 4, 2019 at 05:43 PM Popular Post Posted November 4, 2019 at 05:43 PM I mean this EASILY her best work in ages. The lyrics aren’t cheesy, instead meaningful, the production is spot on and so current; the album has coherence... ( example no “Lullaby” and “Somebody Loves Somebody” on the same album) I think this piece of work will be the best shot she’s had since ANDHC at a Grammy, it almost sounds like Celine wrote some of these songs based on the lyrics and how she interrupts them.... this album screams artistry, now if we could get that to translate to the stage we’d be in heaven, but baby steps I suppose. 13 Quote
sarit_celine Posted November 4, 2019 at 05:54 PM Posted November 4, 2019 at 05:54 PM So my theory was correct about destroying the cheesy image?I think no one will get any 'cheesy' feelings after listening to the new albumcan't be more glad knowing the great critics this album will get 2 Quote "Needed in the chaos and confusion, from the plains to City HallNeeded where the proud who walk the wire are set to fall"

Popular Post Chantemoi Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:18 PM Popular Post Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:18 PM (edited) Overall: the most polished album she’s recorded in a very long time, if not ever. Certainly her most hip album. It’s not “overproduced” but “just right”. Each song flows seamlessly, both lyrically and sonically. SO MUCH SINGLE MATERIAL! She sheds her old image, yet manages to dodge the treachery of disingenuous songs like “Eyes on Me”, SLS, THLAL, “Can’t Fight the Feeling”, etc. See what happens when you work with people under 40? I don’t care about the Grammy’s, but she and her team deserve to be recognized for what they’ve done here. 1. “Flying on My Own”A very energetic opener. I’m somewhat surprised we didn’t get a remix that better suits the album. It is what it is! 2. "Lovers Never Die" (Johan Carlsson/Ross Golan/Dan Wilson)Why did that interviewer think this would be a perfect Bond theme song? Maybe it’s the bass guitar? Anyway, it reminds me of a mashup of “Save Your Soul” and “Didn’t Know Love” more than anything. 3. "Falling in Love Again" (Skylar Grey/Elliott Taylor)A gentle piano ballad. Very intimate. That’s all I have for now. 4. "Lying Down" (Furler/Guetta/Tuinfort)With all the bombast, it is a sure standout. Not my favourite, but I think the album would be less interesting without it. 5. "Courage" (Alcock/Rodrigues/Moccio)Musically, it's a few steps up from “Falling in Love Again” and the melody is more memorable. Plus, the lyrics seem more personal to Céline — hence the album title. 6. "Imperfections" (Leff/Pollack//Perloff-Giles/Dallas K)I was worried this would be the edgiest song, but really it’s a nice in-between. Vocals are the most relaxed of any track, and reflect her new aloofness towards the haters out there. 7. "Change My Mind" (Yttling/LP/Levine)This guitar-driven, indie-pop song has LP’s fingerprints all over it. The sound is very full, fresh, and even kind of funky. Her voice sounds great! I think this would be a great candidate for follow-up single to “Imperfections”. 8. "Say Yes" (Elofsson/Rodrigues)This is in my Top 3. It’s mellow and meditative, almost a healing affirmation for someone who’s been hurt in life (everyone). 9. "Nobody's Watching" (Elofsson/Rodrigues)In the vein of “Imperfections” and “Save Your Soul”, the lyrics express an aloof, “ain’t-nobody-got-time-for-that” attitude. Chorus is very basic and catchy, but at least she lets her vocal chords off leash for this number. Out of all of them, this one seems the most cringeworthy and I don’t think I’d miss it — but I’d still be interested to hear it remixed. 10. "The Chase" (Mitchell/Rodrigues/McConnell)Almost country, without going there (thankfully!). It also reminds me of “Say Yes”, only less sedate — they certainly share some similar features (just like sisters!) I could see this as a single, and hopefully included in the tour setlist! 11. "For the Lover That I Lost" (Smith/Eriksen/Hermansen/Napier)Just when you think “another piano ballad?!” This song comes along with its own distinctive personality. The melody is sublime. So much emotion packed into a short track! It’s the “brother” to those aforementioned “sisters”. 12. "Baby" (Furler/McDonald/Kurstin)On my first listen, I was bored. It doesn’t really go anywhere lyrically or musically. I don’t hate it, but I think the only thing that kept it from being a bonus track is Sia. 13. "I Will Be Stronger" (Eg White) Clear, soulful vocals. Reminds me of “Thankful” or some other nineties ballad. I love it! I love the organ (which also appears throughout the album). It adds a Muscle Shoals kind of feel that reminds me of Aretha Franklin or Joe Cocker, which gives it a timeless feel and helps signal the sound of the next few tracks. (For those of you who don’t get that reference: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_Shoals_Sound_Studio) 14. "How Did You Get Here" (Grier/The Stereotypes/9AM/Alcock/Rodrigues/Hazzard/Brock)YES HUNTY!! Fully embracing the retro soul sound, and it really suits her voice. It’s like “Water and a Flame” but a little more gospel. I’d love to see this song LIVE. I know it’s a long shot, but if they brought in a local choir like during the FIY Tour, it would work well with “The Hard Way” or “Look at Us Now”. 15. "Look at Us Now" (Jones/Wells/Campbell)“Ain’t Gonna Look the Other Way” but funkier. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer! 16. "Perfect Goodbye" (Wolfgang/Wexler/Sanders)Imagine if “Skies of L.A.” was a good song. It’s ethereal, and reminds me of Lana Del Ray without being too copycat. 17. "Best of All" (White/Ben Earle)Very chill. In fact, I think it’s songs like this that were missing from LMBTL. 18. "Heart of Glass" (Kurstin/Furler)Definitely Sia’s style. It does nothing for me, personally. Hopefully it’s a grower, not a show-er. 19. "Boundaries" (Maty Noyes/Moccio)A decent ballad, but it seems like she’s imitating Adele. 20. "The Hard Way" (Jessica Karpov/Whitney Phillips/Greg Wells)This should be a single!!! Lyrics are mature and the vocals are very current—yet handled with an expertise that only comes with age. She pulls out her high register to prove she’s still got it Would be excellent for the stage, if she had a gospel choir. Edited November 4, 2019 at 06:19 PM by Chantemoi 10 Quote

Chantemoi Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:30 PM Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:30 PM (edited) Can there be another topic for those that has listened to the leaks already and keep this one sacred? Thanks Good idea!! And while we’re at it, let’s go ahead and delete the 4 years of posts leading up to this. I don’t want to scroll through 500 pages of speculation, childish bickering, and I-wish’s I respect anyone who is pious enough to abstain 2 more weeks, but I don’t appreciate the holier-than-thou tone I’ve seen from some members over the past day. Though it does make me feel kind of naughty, like I’m a sexy and fearless outlaw ... maybe I’ll don a metallic warrior princess costume to celebrate my deviance! ehild Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:41 PM Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:41 PM Ok....so after listening to it a few times (I haven't heard the deluxe songs yet so this is not including those), here's my thoughts on the general feel of the album.... If I had to pick one word to describe the general feel of the album: Soulful!!! Some songs have RnB feel to them, some I get more of bluesy vibe and others more of retro (a-la-candyman) vibe....not really sure about a proper term for that last one lol. Given that, to me, the only song that doesn't really fit that vibe is FOMO. I love FOMO but the techno/dance feel it has is so drastically different from the rest of the album. I remember her in the past talking about wanting to do a bluesy type album: this would def fit the bill. There's some definite "old Celine" on there with some of the notes in some songs but most of the album she tends to stay more in her lower register than ever before. Again, in keeping with that bluesy/soulful feel. I also feel like, especially since we TLBSEPT is the French song on the tour, and with her cutting songs, a good bit of these songs would easily fit in their place if that's the whole vibe, in general, they're going for. Matches with the outfits....all of it. Overall, I LOVE this album. It's so different yet so Celine. I can see where some may not like it but I adore it. 4 Quote ~Liz"Please don't make your career your life. Let it be your passion, let it bring you pleasure, but don't let it become your identity. Nmj Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:46 PM Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:46 PM I don’t know why “How Did You Get You Get Here”, is not in this tour, that song could perfectly replace the karaoke funk medley of covers at the end of the show. 7 Quote

Definitely should be in the show, sounds like it’s made for the stage! She could literally pick any of the 20 songs and I’d be happy, of course I like more over others... I also adore the song written by Sam Smith, “For The Lover I Lost” and so many ( I mean all of them lol) more. 1 Quote

Nmj Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:54 PM Posted November 4, 2019 at 06:54 PM Oh please. At this point, I will not be surprised if she cuts Courage eventually. No way. “Lying Down” will be back too. This isn’t the first time she cut it for a show or two and brought it back; I think she doesn’t do it she’s not having a good vocal day ( in her opinion). I’m sure it’ll be back for Detroit on Tuesday. Now will she add more than those two songs, probably not sadly. Quote

Nmj Posted November 4, 2019 at 07:36 PM Posted November 4, 2019 at 07:36 PM When I was at the Cleveland show a couple weeks ago. I wrote here that I heard part of her sound check, and told everyone how great she sounded on “The Reason”...... and I ALSO, said I heard her singing these lines..:: “I can’t believe I’m falling in love once again, I can’t believe I’m falling in love; but I am “ she kept singing those lines... now I know where it’s from lol; however I don’t know if she was rehearsing it or just warming up to it, if that’s the case, I’d rather buy tickets for her Sound check, it seems like a better show LOL. 3 Quote
