For me, the chorus of Imperfections should have been

 

I’ve got my own imperfections

I’ve got my own set of scars to hide

I’ve got my own

 

Would have been less repetitive. That’s the way I’m gonna sing it in my car anyway. Do you think someone could edit the song? I’ll give it a try but I’m not sure of the result

Now Imperfections!

 

Finally a new sound for her! How long did it take them??? Was it so hard to do? 😁😁😁

 

Love hearing her in this modern setting. The finger snaps in the beginning got me hooked, all the lovely things going on here and there, her way of singing it. All gets top points. Only complaint is the refrains are a bit too "flat". The verses are superb, and the build ups - but what does it build up to? Sadly not much. Maybe it's a grower.

 

This gives me Kygo and Whitney wibes. Which is a good thing! 😀 Something current At Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast...

Lying Down can go take a hike.

I just listened to courage again...

 

My god what a song. I’m almost in tears. her voice is simply incredible. It’s almost haunting at times. Moccio, you did good.

I was thinking in terms of imperfections being more modern radio worthy & thought the same. I was also surprised of the three imperfections is doing the worst lol

 

My bet is that:

 

- For Courage being the album's name, it naturally attracts first attention and then by the beautiful lyrics and melody and personal connection of Céline with the song, the songs naturally gathers more listening.

 

- For Lying Down: it is the most classic Céline song. Therefore her longtime fans would logically go (like) this "soft rock type of ballad".

 

- Imperfections is maybe the least Céline-ish sound. It could please a younger non céline fan crowd. But for this, the song needs to be known / get more exposure.

 

For now, I assume the current listeners are mostly existing Céline fans and not the general public. If things get bigger (radio airplay?) maybe we would see Imperfections getting more views.

 

But just my 2 cents

Yay and I soo love Lauv. That’s why the repetitive lines and he’s known for that. I love the song it’s catchy modern chilled and relaxed!

It's exactly because Imperfections has no gymnastics and no beltings in her voice that I enjoy it These songs where Celine doesn't scream her heart and lungs out are few, so I do appreciate to have some peaceful and calm tunes of her from time to time

I also love the softer tone and no big belting. And easier for the live shows!

My opinion:

 

Courage: Gorgeous soft ballad, reminds me of her 90s title tracks. Beautiful lyrics and those stunning C5s!!

 

Lying Down: Amazing powerful song but the vocals sound a bit raw to me.

 

Imperfections: My least favorite. Sounds like something you would hear in a department store. However, if it attracts younger audiences...

 

 

In order of preference so far:

 

1. Courage & Lying Down

2. (Play Me Like A) Love Song

3. Flying On My Own

4. Imperfections

I do love her ballads but I love even more when she goes uptempo and makes me dance Precisely because her repertoire is like 85% ballads and only 15% a more light, dancing material

 

When she recorded When The Wrong One Loves You Right I knew she could appeal a young fanbase with nothing to envy her other fellows in their 20s (unfortunately she didn't keep running that path much longuer after One Heart )

 

And I'm all for TYLAM live of course...

“Imperfections” also reminds me a bit of Céline’s own “Thank You”. Especially the line that starts with “before...”

Indeed!! I love it when the producers "takes the time" to do this, makes room for some effects or musical solos. I am so tired of the "rushed through" songs we've had waaay too many of lately.

 

Who produced Imperfections? Kygo? 😀 😉

 

 

Imperfections has a beautiful instrumental part at the end. Out of the tree new songs for me this is the part which gets me the most.
