That whole "Drake, don't tattoo my face" bit from the iHeart interview is going a bit viral. I'm seeing it everywhere.

Though strongest material seems to (mostly) be presented first. So this might be as good as it gets. All songs lack "oumf" even though I am quite hooked on Imperfections, it could have had another level added to it to get the "hit feel".

 

On the other hand we can stay optimistic about gems on the album thinking that the EP was created from the "self empowering theme". Other songs, such as "plain" love songs (don't get me wrong) waiting there could very well be gems then. PLALS sounded very promising, so I have hopes for that, and the Aoki track (the irony would be if it turns out to be the Ashes Demix though ).

 

I don't think they would necessarily release their best 3 songs on day 1. They are keeping other gems which will be singles. So ouf these 3, it's fair to say that only one will be an official single. I hope for Imperfections.

As much as I don't really like LD either the chourus does kinda stick. So perhaps it can do well. Grasping for straws here.

 

I wanted “imperfections” too but doubt it. She isn’t even performing it on tour. And she confirmed a music video for “LYING DOWN”.

Sadly I feel like it is the new single they want... worst choice in my opinion.

Question is: what does that promo actually do? How does that translate into more listening numbers on her new songs???

 

Did anyone actually get this pop-up? I already have premium so obviously wouldn't get the promo, but wondering if others 'round here did.

If so, good to see Sony do this sort of thing.

What does it do? It gets you 3 months free. And presumably once you have an ad-free account and all the other benefits of premium, you listen more.

And that's more royalties for Sony & more subscribers for Spotify. Win-win.

Yes it's a really neat track! Love the way she sings the verses. And some parts makes me both sad and make my hairs stand up in a bittersweet way. Such a nice homage. And a perfect encore for this tour - where was its position last night???

 

I can't quit listening to Courage!!! I love it a little more every time I hear it. It's the new favorite for me

Of course they can't guarantee what you listen to. It's just algorithmically pushed to people who already listen to her on the free platform and thus presumably will continue to do so once they subscribe.

Works for whom?

I mean, there's a reason Spotify ARPU is down to something like $5.40 - family plans, international expansion, and promos like this one - but they've got to do them to stem that 5% churn.

And clearly Sony has an upside if these promos are targeted at people who already listen to their catalog, seeing as SPOT payout is based on share of listening represented by the label.

That's a bit different from being negative and bitter.

 

But I guess "you only see what your eyes wants to see". And if we're throwing recommendations: it is alright to chill with the need of seeing something threatening with anything that isn't pink and glittery praise to everything..
