Get her team to release anniversary editions of the albums. Get everything from it unblocked on YouTube. Etc., etc. The fact is Celine is great at lip service when it comes to how she supposedly feels about songs and albums of hers. However, it’s clear it’s just that - lip service. In the 60'ies & 70'ies, many singers would cover the same song (often not long after release of the original) and add their own flavour/interpretation...I just love that and I wish it'd still be a thing today. 4 Quote

And YES, she is doing whatever she wants now. But her 'I don't have to prove myself' also makes her a bit 'lazy' If I had the voice, the money and the connections I would use it all to expand my creativity. And who knows, maybe she really is fine with how things are now. I really don't blame her, good for her. Javito Posted September 19, 2018 at 08:39 AM Posted September 19, 2018 at 08:39 AM (edited) What bothers me most is that Céline still has her voice (for how long - she's not getting any younger) and she's primarily "wasting" it singing covers in a desert (which she could be doing at the end of her career when she's really passé). Dreaming of the kind of concept albums we could have had by now while her voice is still great:Jazz/Blues AlbumDance AlbumEnglish version of a French albumCountry Album - I'm sure she'd do country really well!!Etc... I do think concept album is the way to go. I am so fed up with all these "buffé albums" with a bunch of incoherent songs smashed togheter calling it an album. Go with one or a couple of sounds - not 12-16 different sounds and styles. Excuse me??? That's exactly and precisely what I've been saying for about 15 years, since March 2003 basically, and I anticipated all of this: that she was wasting her voice in Vegas. And her passion. And her natural talent. That she would only become a robot there. For repeating, abusing and taking to the extreme her routine. And for that, I've been seriously mocked, attacked, silenced and all in between during this 15 years for saying what everyone knew it was -but very few had the guts to admit and be vocal about-, and now, here we have the results of 15 years of career isolation and insane repetition of the same program: a career that stopped growing in 2003, and that hasn't brought anything new or challenging but the questionable achievement of 1200 shows performed in one same place. Period. Becoming a "legend" in Vegas had its price. Now we see it. She may have wrote history in Vegas and be a pioneer there. But it's a very weak achievement in terms of artistry and music legacy. Nobody will remember her for doing 1200 insane same shows in Las Vegas, but they will remember for her albums and the songs she has released. Music reviews won't care how many shows she will have perfomed in her life, but will care if she attempts to step out of her comfort zone and record a ground-breaking album in another language, or in another music style she may surprise everyone, while she has the pipes and strength and voice. They will absolutely don't care to write if she has performed MHWGO or BYLM 150 more times or less. That's what this insane adventure is about, and the toll it's taking. And the 5 years in between each albums now. It's so sad, how she has wasted her voice and time during all these 15 years, while she had her vocal chords intact and fresh. How many countless songs she has ignored and never performed live for always doing one same show setlist hundreds and hundreds of times... which nobody remembers now because not even the DVD we have released (A New Day) does justice to what that original show was... If only we had an accurate DVD of what the show was over those 5 insane years, but we don't. Embarrassing. And the missed projects... The "I'd love to record this and that album" but that never came... The cancelled recordings... Etc. And in between, her voice changed and changed, and it has changed dramatically in the last 5 years. Now reality is that no matter what she wanted to record in 2003, 2005, 2010... It's not going to sound as good as it could have sounded in 2003 anymore. Not only the albums we won't have in those years, but also the dozens of songs of her discography that she never wanted to perform, when they were just released. And we don't need to go as far back as 2003 or 2007 to miss those wasted chances, she keeps doing it in her most recent album, Encore un soir: her least promoted album to date: No TV specialNo videoclipsOnly 2 playback performances of the songs on TV5 songs were performed on tour, but we don't even have a quality video of them to cherish and go back to watch. But in the meantime, we keep getting every.single.damn.year the same performances of TPOL, MHWGO and BYLM, and hundreds of times. Did Celine ever hear about quality over quantity? That's how things are. Sad! Edited September 19, 2018 at 09:02 AM by Javito 4 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Tom_London_Fan Posted September 19, 2018 at 09:19 AM Posted September 19, 2018 at 09:19 AM I hate to jump on the bandwagon but I really have to agree with a lot that’s been said here. I think the most frustrating part is knowing that she has so much more to offer than Vegas. If only she had that artistic spark in her that she had before she become a dollar-printing machine for Caesars. I really want to see Celine the artist again, and not Celine the Vegas legend. I can tell you as a fan, I’m much more proud sharing her music and fashion than I am with anything to do with Vegas. Like someone mentioned prior, she could probably do another 10 years of Vegas when she’s older...whilst she still has this iconic voice, she should be making unforgettable music, not belting out hits from 20-30 years ago. Part of me really sees a change coming though. I can see next year being a defining year for the Celine. Hopefully a certain nomination for ‘Ashes’, a new album with extraordinary visuals and fashion plus a lot of TV promotion (hopefully showing her charm and humour to the world) and a tour the support the album which breaks more touring/grossing records! Celine is worth so much more as an artist when she’s not in the Vegas desert, hopefully Sony are going to give her the push she needs. After all, she is the greatest singer in the world. 3 Quote
Javito Posted September 19, 2018 at 09:50 AM Posted September 19, 2018 at 09:50 AM I'm afraid Sony lost faith in her many years ago and doesn't care anymore, that's why they don't push her in any sense because they know it's a wasted effort... After all, Celine made it clear with her "I don't have nothing to prove anymore", she repeated that like a mantra so many times since 2002 that I think Sony got the message and eventually gave up The artistic Céline... Coincidentally, to me one of the best examples of her artistic side and everything which is opposite to the Vegas cash machine singer that is now, it became in 2003 when she accepted to perform in the tribute to Eddy Marnay. That one night she shined like the greatest star. Her vibrato still intact then, not damaged by the abuse of Vegas and the overperforming years 1 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Tell me a performance in 2018 where she has the same vibrato and as pristine and clear as displayed in any of the Marnay performances of 2003. In 2018 she still has it of course, but 1) she has undeniably shortened it,2) it's deeper in tone and nasality than 15 years ago.3) the use of it is way more scarce than years ago, because she has simply reduced the use of it. Do we have to talk about the number of songs where she has reduced/shortened the long notes, or is that also a fantasy to you? To Love You More, All By Myself, I'm Alive, where she shortens the long notes, and so on? She still belts the high notes (when not using playback), but she certainly doesn't hold them as long as she used to. But that's another story. Simple: Mariah has a 100% artistic involvement in what she does, which translates in a good control of what she wants to do with her music in all ways and means, with singles and videos (for good or worse result). Céline just doesn't care the least about any of this. The last time I remember she had some artistic involvement/decision in one of her albums is when she supposedly designed the box set for the Taking Chances Collector's edition, 11 years ago. It’s not much to ask for an update this day in age, nearly a year on from that TV interview... via her official website, twitter, Instagram or in an interview with a magazine or TV channel a year on. To me it’s just about keeping fans in the loop, up to date and just basic common decency, really not much to ask! Edited September 19, 2018 at 01:19 PM by Shamrock_1982 7 Quote

Admittedly I would like to have some info about a new album. I just think it's gonna be mega. She has been riding a wave these past two years and I hope the album can somehow (without Ryan Reynold's twitter account) generate a similar hype and be as amazing. 6 Quote
