Javito Posted September 3, 2018 at 10:32 AM Posted September 3, 2018 at 10:32 AM (edited) Ahhh ANDHC album. If only that freshness could be ever repeated again... I remember each preview of one new song with TeamCeline (one new song each day) was quite an event back in 2002. And I mean not only have one just good single released and then the rest is a meh album full of fillers and mediocre songs. With ANDHC the whole disc from A to Z was fresh and top-notch songs. Those days!!! Is it that hard to complete another GREAT album like this when you are one of the best singers in the music history? Isn't she receiving as many great songs as she once did and they're struggling finding good songs to record? Really? What's wrong with her and her team since 15 years ago??? I don't have an asnwer but they've certainly lowered the bar with the (English) album releases Edited September 3, 2018 at 10:40 AM by Javito 7 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
ryba Posted September 3, 2018 at 10:35 AM Posted September 3, 2018 at 10:35 AM (edited) yeah, I also love the fact that she did her own background vocals on Ten Days. Although I'm not crazy about that song as such, that makes this song so special to me! (I also enjoy her background vocals a lot on I have to dream). I love when she does her won background vocals! And I absolutely adooooore the sound of the instruments on Goodbye's! Those beats and background vocals just give me chills every time. This song is a masterpiece in terms of production. It sonds like a million dollar song (I think the same producers worked on the UK radio mix of I drove all night, It has the same beats and instruments). Ronny83 Posted September 3, 2018 at 10:41 AM Posted September 3, 2018 at 10:41 AM Things have changed a lot in music industry: a single could come out anytime now, without any previous warning. The fact that we don't have clues about an imminent release, doesn't mean that it's not happening. Like Céline suggests, "keep calm". When she does her own backing vocals it's just more special and much much better the result. Since FIY, I Love You was one of my favourites ever, but yes, her crush with Ten Days was so strong that she even bothered to do the backing vocals (imagine listening to them in the SACD version of the album with the surround mix ). And then in Super Love she also does everything, all the voice layers and sounds. But that was good enough until I Have To Dream arrived. That was pure bliss in terms of background vocals! Goodbye's has a GREAT production, the strings were recorded in Europe with a real orchestra (as most songs in the album) and the song itself is amazing, though it wasn't the best option for a single release. I don't have an asnwer but they've certainly lowered the bar with the (English) album releases I was 14 in 2002 and I still loved Celine like she was the only one that matters. I knew I had found my person, or my singer. (Actually, I knew when I heard The Power of Love sometime during that era.) I didn't have a TeamCeline membership back then, but I remember that I bought the CD when it was released and it was all I listened to for a long time. I remember CD's and DVD's were proteced back then so I couldn't imporort the original copy I had of ANDHC into my computer. I can't believe I'm 30 now and I still love it just as much as I always did. It shouldn't be this hard to get a great album every now and again. I understand that we won't get them often (English albums) but we can at least still get something that I'll listen to for years and years and years. I'm still not over Falling Into You, and I play that album like it was released last month. I want an album with longetivity in it. Something that will be just as good 5 or 10 years from now. I just don't want Loved Me Back To Life 2.0. Celine does deserve a break though. She really does work non-stop. I personally wish she'd shift some of that work towards the album and less about Vegas and everything else though, but that's just me. 5 Quote
ryba Posted September 3, 2018 at 01:11 PM Posted September 3, 2018 at 01:11 PM (edited) you know, actually her team should pick the right songs for her and make sure that the album will be coherent and proper. She doesn't even have to do a lot in that apect apart from giving the final approval. It's not like Celine has to figure everything out all by herself plus create all the shows by herself... no. She has people for that who get paid to come up with good, creative ideas. Of course she also has a say, but it's not like she is on her own with everything and has to plan everything alone. Most of the time I blame her lazy team for not putting in more creative work and guiding her in the right direction and offer her good ideas to pick from. When Aldo was in charge, everything definitely went in the right direction. She needs people like that, not people that are sleeping or that rely on concepts that worked 30 years ago! If it were that easy to do a hit album, all the one-hit wonders would still be around. There are very few artists that last this long, so Céline and her team must be doing something right. Of course, there's always room for improvement, but we should consider ourselves lucky to be able to get another album. All the "acts of the moment" and one-hit wonders just end up getting kicked out of the label and bye bye music career... Edited September 3, 2018 at 03:49 PM by Xpresso 3 Quote
Javito Posted September 3, 2018 at 04:00 PM Posted September 3, 2018 at 04:00 PM (edited) The longevity of Céline's career today is resting on everything she did before 2003 and all the hard work she did during the 90s. Unfortunately, few of what she's done since 2003 has added more to that status, other than stablish a show residency in Las Vegas and paving the way to other fellow artists to go there and sing only once their peak moment has passed. When the press has to summarise what's been new with her in the last 10-15 years, all they mention is the 5-year show in Vegas and the landmark of more than 700 shows performed during the first show, but no hit is mentioned ever in all these long years, no song released in all these years that deserve a highlight, no "hit" album. Her major focus has been and still is performing shows, cloned one after another invariably. Suffice to say that in the last decade Céline has released only two English albums, and during this summer tour, she has not performed a single song from them. Her last two English releases have been totally ignored on this last tour. That says it all. Céline stopped much too soon offering more with her career and growing as an artist. She got too comfortable restraining and limiting her shows to what she achieved in the 90s but trusting so little in the new recordings she offered in this new century. We are lucky she's still around singing, absolutely, but it's a shame she wasted all that effort and talent and work doing the same old classic formula instead of renovating and giving herself the chance to grow even more. Like I said many times, she went for the easiest and most convenient option with the minimum effort on her side: to sing always the same songs that she knows by heart. Even when she has a new album out in the stores, she still sings the same songs instead of focusing on the new ones she just recorded. Easy way! Xpresso Posted September 3, 2018 at 04:12 PM Posted September 3, 2018 at 04:12 PM Let's see what the new album brings. Javito Posted September 3, 2018 at 04:23 PM Posted September 3, 2018 at 04:23 PM (edited) Well, she can keep singing TPOL, BYLM and MHWGO until her voice is unrecognisable and breaks, or she can try to include some more new songs in her shows and give them the chance to shine and become future hits born in her shows *if*she*wants. And before it's too late because her voice can't sing these songs anymore. Nobody is going to stand up and leave a show or claim back their money for seeing her sing Us, Miles To Go, The Greatest Reward or even Breakaway, for a change, and eliminating LCMM, RDMH, ABM or a random funky medley or a random cover like Purple Rain that nobody missed before it was included. But yes, in the end it's her choice. We can only hope. Edited September 3, 2018 at 04:25 PM by Javito 3 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Popular Post Jeanette Posted September 3, 2018 at 06:00 PM Popular Post Posted September 3, 2018 at 06:00 PM I truly believe that Celine is stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to her English album career and she knows it which is why it seems to be taking a back seat next to her French releases. With the French it seems so much more simpler for her to find the right approach. With the English it’s clear to me that her fan base is split between wanting old 90’s Celine and wanting a more modern sound. She can’t please everyone so who should she please? Take Ashes for example, it was a modern ballad but many fans were disappointed there was no big climax to the song. That kind of climax belongs to the 90’s, ballads of today don’t have or need it and it was her trademark before. I also think because she struggles desperately to get any airplay and due to the compilation of today’s charts, in order to try and have a big hit she’s going to have to go for the totally fresh and modern sound to stand any chance of charting thus upsetting the half of her fan base who don’t want change. I mean is she ever going to have a big hit again unless she gives us something totally different? I fear not. I believe for these reasons it must be difficult for her and her team to find a theme for the album. To find the coherence that everyone keeps talking about. I personally really liked the first half of LMBTL and wished she’d had the guts to keep the rest of the album in that same vein but believe she was trying to please everyone with this album and the result was fresh and modern vs dated and bland, which didn’t work and gave the album no flow to it. On a totally different note altogether the reason for holding off on releasing it could just be coming down to timing, plain and simple, ie when will she have a chance to promote it around her other commitments. This break would be ideal but I think given the start to the year that she had, she’s gotta use the time for just that...a break. 10 Quote

CSchmidt Posted September 3, 2018 at 08:42 PM Posted September 3, 2018 at 08:42 PM When it comes to a duet, I must say that 3 years ago, a bombastic, good duet with Adele or Sia would have been cool, (sth. a la chandelier) but now I don't really care anymore, since the hype around them decreased. Now it wouldn't be anything special anymore. They always have the worst timing ever... Moreover, when she did a duet with Neyo everyone went crazy and then it turned out that they recorded the most mediocre, boring song ever and the fact that Neyo was on it didn't help. She needs better songs... Right now I prefer a normal Celine album like ANDHC with no duets, just magical, inspirational songs. Nothing forced to sound like someone that is currently hip. With ANDHC she had her own unique lane that was just amazing. (IA, ANDHC, IS, RIFOY were true gems on the album). I would love it if her new English album would be a ANDHC part II I think better Falling Into You part II 2 Quote I found me, i found faith, i found trust
