your_light Posted December 20, 2017 at 11:11 PM Posted December 20, 2017 at 11:11 PM (edited) OMG. The swedish guy involved makes me cringe. All he did was rubbish to me. TGR was not his song. He wrote the lyrics. There comes a time is a big filler. And what he did for the others is even worse. Old fashioned bubble gum pop on its way... yeah! I really like his style of songwriting actually. For example I love the stuff he wrote for Irish girl-band Bellefire ("Say Something Anyway", "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do") . Also I'd rather a Celine album with songs more in line with the tracks on One Heart and ANDHC etc. I'd rather that than an album that basically is just trying hard to be current for the sake of it. From the current list of collaborators I'm feeling pretty hopeful for this album. EDIT: Also I think when people hear "Elofsson" they automatically think Britney Spears, whom I'm not a fan of... But he has done way better stuff imo! Edited December 20, 2017 at 11:16 PM by your_light Quote

LeChauffeur100 Posted December 21, 2017 at 12:48 AM Posted December 21, 2017 at 12:48 AM I like "Save Your Soul." It's one of the songs that saved the "Loved Me Back To Life" album, in my opinion. It was a bit different for Celine. The majority of LMBTL was predictable and forgettable. Possibly the worst English album of hers to date.I wish they had put the rap version on the album! I've only heard it once on YouTube and the quality was very low, but the rap added some life to the song. I still haven't found a decent quality mp3 of it though. Javito Posted December 21, 2017 at 09:02 AM Posted December 21, 2017 at 09:02 AM I wouldn't mind what you call another album of "bubblegum pop songs". Not at all. It's sad that some of you associate those kind of more commercial songs with cheap songs, because it's not always the case. Céline can also do great quality uptempo songs and also some very poor ballads that would embarrass even the most cheesy listener. Also, we all know her repertoire lacks this kind of "bubblegum" pop songs, uptempo songs, so having some in an album won't hurt her. Id' say she actually needs them. But of course, nicely done and produced with quality, both in terms of music AND lyrics. It surprises me too hearing fans say some of the things they have on here about previous albums. What's noticeable too is that I don't recall all the complaining when the albums were released. You certainly did not read my posts back then LOL. I immediately disliked the album on the whole, except a couple of songs maybe. I just can't consider that an album, but more a collection of songs, so randomnly put in it and with a production and a voice (raspy and nasal) that it's not of her past albums 3 Quote "Hush, now... I couldn't conceive the ballad without the remix version, and viceversa. They both complement each other. That shows that it all depends on the arrangements and the production. Almost any slow song can be converted into a good uptempo song, but not viceversa. 4 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

I can't be unbiased here-ANDHC is my favourite album, but I think it holds the record of more top quality songs reunited equally both for ballads and uptempo songs on the same album: ANDHC, HYEBIL, TGR, I Surrender, GTSW, and Aun Existe Amor (though on another language, the lyrics in Spanish are GREAT, believe me) and then on the uptempo side, songs like IA, RIFOY, SFL and WTWOLYR are all single material. These were all good songs individually and not fillers, and on the top of their categories. Any of those songs in both categories could have been picked as a single and have chances to be sucessful, with adequate promotion of course. Even Super Love has a summery vibe that could have worked very well on radios in 2002, and even the bonus tracks CWS and All Because Of You are excellents tracks worth to be on a standard tracklist. Of course, what killed the excellent performance of the album in radios after ANDHC and I'm Alive is to pick GTSW as a single before many other much more suitable candidates waiting on the list. But that's another story, which has been ruining the performance of Céline's singles on radios since then. As much as I try to find another example in Céline's discography, I can't find another album which has offered that same balance and with the same successful results. FIY and LTAL have amazing ballads which include some of her best hits, but on the uptempo side most of the examples were bland and insipid, and not on the same level as the rest of the album (talking about Declaration Of Love, or THLAL). I'd say the Celine Dion album offers here a more balanced offer between good ballads and also decent uptempo songs (Little Bit Of Love, DYGEL, and LCMM though we're all sick of it, it was top-notch at its time). Also TCOML is more varied here, though it sounds so dated today. But again, as always, it's just my opinion and a matter of personal taste I guess! But I'm quite hopefull: nobody releases bubble gum pop anymore. We'll see :-) I guess if you listen to the sort of music that was around at the time of the release of those albums then you could say she was trying to be current, or at least doing more upbeat songs. Personally I feel like current THEN was way better than current NOW in regards to charting pop music... I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I don't want her to imitate the kind of pop songs that are around today, and that I'd prefer songs that sound like what were on ANDHC and OH i.e. something more melodically driven, mentally engaging and less beat-driven/urban sounding. That's why when I hear the likes of Elofsson being a songwriter I become hopeful. 1 Quote
