Javito Posted December 9, 2017 at 12:19 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 12:19 AM Just take Falling Into You or A New Day Has Come, these are two of her best selling albums and they have no duets. Encore un soir had no duets and it was her best selling French album in ages. I wish the new album wouldn't include any duet at all. I'm personally glad Celine doesn't collaborate with the "hit act" of the moment because in 20 years she'll not be remembered for "that duet with NeYo", she still be remembered as the class act that she is who didn't have have to resort to cheap collaborations to remain popular. Yes Céline's music may not get played like it used to but look at her concert ticket sales and you'll see she is still right at the VERY top! 7 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
ryba Posted December 9, 2017 at 01:48 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 01:48 AM No need for duets. I wanted modern collaborations in the past but those days are gone. Now all I care about is pure Celine 3 Quote
Bruno Portugal Posted December 9, 2017 at 08:52 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 08:52 AM Celine recorded incredible duets in the past (not the Incredible one, sorry!) so I have nothing against a new duet. I just want something really great! An album with the quality of FIY, for instance. After the fashion Dionaissance, it's time for the music Dionaissance. 1 Quote My Webpage >>> TRIBUTE TO CELINE DION
browseceline Posted December 9, 2017 at 09:46 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 09:46 AM Level of success does not equate to level of mediocrity. Plenty of mediocre songs were hits. The Houston/Carey duet not the Dion/Streisand duet are mediocre. They're beautiful songs and well known. They don't need to be hits to be well known. They're Oscar and Grammy nominated songs. That is your opinion but what is mediocre about when you believe? I think it is one of the best duets from the 90s. Loved it, the message, the melody the video. What i find over the top though is Celine & Barbra's tell him. I wouldn't say mediocre for that song. It is a vocal battle between two giants. And sugarsweet lyrics..but still a great song - even though over the top;) Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G901F met Tapatalk 1 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
isurrender Posted December 9, 2017 at 09:59 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 09:59 AM Music is not science. No one is right or wrong about it. If you find a song good, there will be millions of people who think the opposite and the other way around. Very rarely I read on music boards really good posts about a song I didn't like and people talk about it with so much passion that I listen to it again. But most of the time, we all just don't care. manu23 Posted December 9, 2017 at 10:27 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 10:27 AM What duets have to do with quality or sales? Celine is here to slay this time, she wants it and she will try hard. All those I've been there already or I don't need to prove anything anymore are behind. This year she experienced being on top again, acclaimed by both public and critics maybe for the first time ever, and I'm pretty sure she loves it. All is in her favor now, but we need quality music and good promotion. 4 Quote

Taking Chances Posted December 9, 2017 at 11:52 AM Posted December 9, 2017 at 11:52 AM (edited) I took Beyonce as an example of the total opposite of Céline. I - of course - don't want her to do that. My point is she could do it - maybe for other's album ( if she has the opportunity of course) or simply as a single- once in a while as a try to do something different. There's no need to bask in the extreme situation you describe : I know some current acts are making all a business of it and are/stay popular only thanks to these collaborations ( Coldplay, Marroon 5, Selena Gomez, etc...). But on the other hand, collaborations between really big names end up so-so and often dissapointment as well. They won't be remembered. Céline sang with Streisand and Pavarotti for the english market and with Hallyday or Sardou for the french one and those songs are quite forgettable. It's not something only Céline experienced. Carey sang with Houston, Beyonce with Alicia Keys and they are also mediocre songs... I understand what you mean, but looking back on all of those songs that I used to listen to and wish maybe Celine did the part instead... All of those songs are very dated in a way. But of course, that doesn't mean everything will be that way. And with the right collaboration I'm sure she'll be a perfect fit! I would absolutely love it if she did it. All I was maybe trying to say is that I'm happy she stayed of course with the super cheesy music. But that really is because she stays away from "everything", which we don't want. We want her to be a part of music today. And also, as much as I said that I am glad she hasn't done things, there is nothing wrong with being part of current music. So I would rather she did more in regards to new music. There's really nothing I want more than new music from Celine. Things change over time, and that should be ok too. So as much as I'm not a fan of Beyonce or whatever, I'm like "do your thing", and if there's an audience for it, great! Then I can only hope that Celine would release (and/or be a part of) some great stuff too!. The piano part he played was the beginning of ANDHC Yeah I noticed! Immediately, I was like "what does this mean?!" Will there be a little bit of the piano part from A New Day Has Come on a new song maybe? Just like a few seconds? But I know that's not what it meant. But my mind goes there. I loved the whole piano bit that he did though, so I can't wait for this new music. Just take Falling Into You or A New Day Has Come, these are two of her best selling albums and they have no duets. Encore un soir had no duets and it was her best selling French album in ages. I wish the new album wouldn't include any duet at all. Yes. This. It's not like I will be disappointed if Celine collaborates with someone and makes a great song, but I would kind of not want that on the album... I would much rather just want only Celine on her album. That would be the greatest thing. If there's no duets on the album! Edited December 9, 2017 at 11:55 AM by Taking Chances 2 Quote
CSCfan Posted December 9, 2017 at 12:00 PM Posted December 9, 2017 at 12:00 PM Quality over quantity. If a song is good I don't care if it's a duet or not. If it brings something *extra* to the song, I'm all for it. The problem is Céline needs exposure and a duet is a good way to get it (providing it's with a popular and current artist), but... that shouldn't be the main reason of a duet. 4 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

Javito Posted December 10, 2017 at 11:07 AM Posted December 10, 2017 at 11:07 AM Seriously I will lose all credit for Céline's new team if they include TSMGO or insist in this song in promotion terms for the new album, after 9 freaking years since she started the story with this song (TCWT). There's a limit for every "favorite" song of Céline/René, and TSMGO already had its moment (and too many moments I'd say!). It's time to move on please. Same for Recovering. The song served its purpose already. I hope Recovering and The Show Must Go On are not on the album. They've already had their moment and it's time for new and fresh stuff to shine. 5 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
brisbaneboy Posted December 10, 2017 at 11:19 AM Posted December 10, 2017 at 11:19 AM I love how they entitled her recent French compilation as Un peu de nous - using a meaningful lyric from a single... and I hope they can replicate this concept with the new album. There’s something lazy (I think) about calling the album after the first single and the first single is track one on the album... it kind of sends a message that “this is the best we have and it’s all downhill from here” (as with LMBTL) Does this kinda make sense?
