LukeD Posted February 11, 2014 at 10:16 PM Posted February 11, 2014 at 10:16 PM (edited) LOL @ Mariah's later work being superior to her prime work. She went from singing soulful songs that became classics into singing 'up out my face boy' & 'why r u obsessed with me?'...! Edited February 11, 2014 at 10:19 PM by LukeD 4 Quote

québecflower Posted February 11, 2014 at 10:28 PM Posted February 11, 2014 at 10:28 PM You guys are idiots. Mariah is one of many women of color whose image has been whitewashed by racist industry people uncomfortable about going live with a "black" women singing hip-hop jams instead of the big orchestral monstrosities created for singers like Barbara Streisand and Celine. When we talk without thinking and discuss our disdain for Mariah's later work, which is in many ways far, far superior to her earlier albuns, we are actually being implicitly racist. Mariah deprogrammed herself and created albums of songs she would actually want to listen to, we all decided for some reason to call her a slut. Look at the way her skin tone was adjusted on these earlier albums - she is presented as a white woman, albeit an intoxicatingly exotic white woman. They did a similar thing to Whitney with the album art / production for Preacher's Wife, people like Clive and Mottola were at the time looking for a "crossover" artist, since it was assumed that most mainstream radio stations might not be interested in playing "black music." Personally, I think Mariah is a creative genius (even the Glitter-era Mariah) who has only gotten better with time. Just listen to "The Art of Letting Go" once and you'll realize Celine has absolutely nothing on Mariah; if I could decide what to do about this ABM rumour, I would suggest that Celine and Mariah sing it together as a duet; the best thing to do when presented with an apple and an orange is to eat both at the same time. i don't like this kind of songs, i'm not racist. It is not in my cultural background. Should i force myself to like it to show i'm not racist? and in my thinking, Mariah looks lile a slut sometimes. 6 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

Sorry but why you called me names? Very disrespectful. I don´t see the need of this. If you read carefully a lot of people here in this topic sad bad things about Mariah, but you´ve just attacked me..... Just two things:- I love Mariah, I´m a big fan of her, since 1990....her music saved my life (indeed)- I don´t care if she is white, black, yellow, green or blue. I just don´t want see her walking around half naked, being topic for mockery, just because I love her so much and I think she deservers respect cause she´s a f****** good singer, writer, composer, producer, director. I don´t wanna see nobody naked I think it´s a shame to exposure your body like this. 1 Quote Team Céline Dion Brazil@lu_celinefan

The only person who brought up race was you. Guilty conscience? Need to prove to yourself that maybe you aren't indeed racist? There is absolutely NO reason to call anyone here an idiot. Nobody mentioned skin color here except YOU. I personally think she makes herself come off trashy by her entire demeanor. This means how she dresses herself, what she dresses in, how she makes herself purposely sound unintelligent when she speaks (when she clearly is intelligent and has said things that make sense). Now she says stupid things to try and make herself sound younger. But, now her overall package comes off trashy. And it has absolutely nothing to do with her skin color. It has everything to do with her just simply coming off trashy. I've heard in interviews and documentaries how the production company told Mariah how to look (clothes, make-up) and even what to sing (no hip hop although she likes this genre and has always wanted to do such songs) so she could seem 'whiter'. When she broke free from 'Sony', she started doing things she really wanted. I love her 90s music but I have to say it again - Mariah doing R'n'B/hip hop is for me the true Mariah just like Celine singing in French is the true Celine. Del Posted February 12, 2014 at 10:00 PM Posted February 12, 2014 at 10:00 PM Mariah needs a new stylist. She doesn't need to be half hanging out of her dress. She's a pretty woman and she's present herself better if she made better clothing choices. 3 Quote Instagram: @delphis78
