Mariah Carey to cover All By Myself on new album

I haven't seen anyone go mental over it. It's actually been pretty tame.

I do find it a bit odd for Mariah to take on one of Celine's biggest vocal songs. Undoubtedly there will be comparisons, but let's be honest here - our girl celine is known for covering songs - it's damn near half her discography including a great deal of her bigger hits. Tpol, iyamt, Abm, tpol, iacbtmn, her latest title track Lmbtl, and a few others... Celine on occasion has brought something different to the table with many of her covers, but a lot of them are pretty bad and karaoke. It opens room for a lot of criticism - rightfully so.

 

The biggest positive for Mariah is that in her covers she always brings something new to the table. She never just sings the song the way it was sung before. I love celine and she will always be my #1 singer, but as an ARTIST who is involved in the creative process and innovating new things, she undoubtedly pales in comparison to Mariah. I'm willing to hold my judgment of this Abm cover until I hear it because I know whatever Mariah comes up with it will be something new and different from what celine has already done. Like it or not, Mariah is a big diva, a great friend to celine, and amongst fans a rival... I'm excited to hear it, though I must say I'd much rather her have done this 18 years ago back in her prime. I feel like now she won't do it the same justice she would have the.

Wynona Judd's version is my favorite. I posted a live performance of it a few posts up. She does a really fantastic job on the song.

It was a song suggested by David Foster to cover...I don't think it was in the mix of songs that she actually listened to while choosing songs for FIY.

And David Foster created the new arrangment with the big note. And Celine executed it spectacularly!

Secondly, I am just going to say this. I like that some people are getting super defensive about Mariah. Seriously, what is with this woman that people cannot say anything negative about her? I like Mariah and all but I dont think a person should be attacked for having a negative opinion about her. Dang! She is not immune. Then the third thing is its like you cant say anything negative about other female artists but when its Celine we are allow to trash and bash her. Ok not saying I am negative towards Celine because I am but to say that people are not to speak negative of others is bullcrap. Let others others talk. Not all the negativity has to do with Celine.

Well i must add that my friend is the biggest MC fan ever and when i asked him about this, he told me its not true, but there are rumours about Mariah covering some Whitney song to honor her on her new album. And i find it more possible too...

Mariah was supposed to record MHWGO but because at that time she and Mottola were fighting, he denied to her and gave the song to Celine.

 

Motolla was always pushing Mariah. He said at that time with all the letters that Celine was better Mariah. Very professional....and lovely husband....

It is well documented that Horner was giving MHWGO to Celine as a kind of consolation prize after their earlier collab on American Tail didn't work out.
