mike_z Posted November 4, 2013 at 05:55 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 05:55 PM Ok guys here's a sample I made of Céline's voice on Breakaway but with her original pitch. You'll see she sounds less "girly" but a lot more like her. And the big notes sound a lote more powerful. They probably did it because Céline was struggling with the original key, which is quite high for her 45 year-old voice. Now you'll understand what I was talking about when I said her voice had been pitched, and you'll recognize the real Céline right away! The only weird thing about my sample is that I had to lower the tempo too, cuz I did it fast. But listen to the voice! http://www.sendspace.com/file/9l3nzb 2 Quote
Jeff Abbott Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:00 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:00 PM (edited) This reminds me of when I was living in France and I went to FNAC to get "My Love." They hadn't set it out yet (I was there when the store opened, naturally). So I went and asked a clerk if they had it, he asked me if I wanted the 1 or 2 CD set and look shocked when I said both! lolright, you reminded me to check out the opening times of my store Edited November 4, 2013 at 06:00 PM by Jeff Abbott 1 Quote
Taking Chances Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:01 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:01 PM I see what you mean, Mike. But I don't think your original pitch sounds more authentic. I do get your point though, but I like the song just as it is. One song that they did really pitched the sh't out of was "I Got Nothin' Left". I really love that song, but I wish we could hear the original recording. I have heard the fan made version of it and Celine sounds more like herself there, but I don't like that either because it sounds weird somehow. 1 Quote

And if Céline sang it live it would sound a lot more like what I've just uploaded. Wait and see (if she ever performs it live) BTW, here's another proof! In studio video where Céline jokes while singing the song. She sings it one key lower than the cd version ... and her voice sounds a lot more like the file I uploaded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5Opbu2KMaA Edited November 4, 2013 at 06:06 PM by mike_z 1 Quote

jack101 Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:07 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:07 PM (edited) The album was supposed to drop ib South Africa today, but the stores havnt recieved stock. Been to 3 Musica's and called all stores in Durban but nothing. Some are saying that it may only come next week. Anyone else in SA having this problem? In positive news,I saw on Facebook that Celine is no 1 on SA iTunes. EXACTLY the same with me! They have this huge poster in front of Musica that says 4 November and then it isn't even there??? Furious! Edited November 4, 2013 at 06:12 PM by jack101 Quote
mike_z Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:10 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:10 PM Mike, do you get the CD in Argentina as an import, or is it manufactured there? It's manufactured here, we don't know about details yet since it hasn't come out. But as you know, argentinean cds sometimes come with surprises (spanish subtitles, the blue LTAL cd, etc! ) 1 Quote

I really doubt they'll show the original vocals on this one, especially since they were altered 3 Quote
mike_z Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:16 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 06:16 PM We even had an argentinean edition of D'ELLES that you can still find in stores. SISDA had spanish translations. However, SANS ATTENDRE didn't even get here as an import (well, only in very small boutique/expensive stores). I think we'll get the deluxe edition, made in Argentina, no surprises. That's my guess! isurrender Posted November 4, 2013 at 07:32 PM Posted November 4, 2013 at 07:32 PM (edited) BTW, here's another proof! In studio video where Céline jokes while singing the song. She sings it one key lower than the cd version No offense. I mean I really don't care if the song was pitched or not... but you really think that this video is a proof of anything? You said yourself she was joking...Gosh, does she have to sing everytime the same key as the supposed album key? It doesn't make any sense to me. How many times she sang bits of songs just for fun ? So everytime she sings a little part of a song not in the original key, does it mean the key in the album was altered? What kind of way of thinking is that? She can't hum or whatsoever? That's such a serious speech, give the woman a break. That's way too much overanalysing. That song might have been key-changed , but that video doesn't convince anybody, I think.
