I dislike the studio version of the song as much as you do. :pinch: I have this theory though that Celine really needs to perform live these old songs in order to make this album a success in United States. They love ''old-school'' Celine and I seriously think this market is not ready to embrace the - Celine who sings ''Somebody loves somebody'' and ''Water and a flame'' with her ''bedroom voice''-. Any Celine song that is not a power ballad (except for 'That's the way it is', the exception that proves the rule) has pretty much failed in United States. If ''Overjoyed'' is enough to make housewives (no shade intented) buy the album, then I will even support a CD-single release! (Now is the moment you slap me. :-D)

i would want to slap you, it is not because you are old that you like Over... and dislike the rest. I love all of the album minus one, but i understand what you mean :) So i 'll keep my slap , maybe for another time

Be careful or Del will sue you for misappropriation of SLAPs. I had to use SPANK instead. So look for another S-related hitting word. :laugh:

Maybe not "Overjoyed" but "Breakaway". It could work in the US! So could "Incredible"!

It's writing on the album : the single are : loved me back to life, incredible & somebody loves somebody.

 

For me they should release water & a flame, breakaway, save your soul, thank you and at seventeen. Thank you could work for this christmas season. + you don't hear those kind of song, it's old but new at the same time

I am waiting patiently for Christmas morning to come as I have asked Hubbie for Celine Dion's Deluxe album for Christmas. Jolly well hope he has ordered it already!!! I am so glad that I am able to listen to her album on youtube!!! Love love love Somebody loves Somebody and so does my 3 year old. She will be playing quietly and all of a sudden I hear her burst into the chorus of that song!! :giggle:

 

My 7 year old loves Incredible and will occasionally hum it on the way to school!!

 

Also, my friend who lives in the UK has been Dionised. She watched Celine Dion on the Jonathan Ross show and said that she was gorgeous and so so funny!!! I persuaded her to get the album!!! Woo Yeah!!! :clap: :clap: :clap:

I just finished watching the "il était une fois" special. Brought me down memory lane. One thing that I take away is that Celine's career has been reinvented several times with very great success. Just as Plamondon did with her at 18 and again Goldman with D'Eux, I think it became apparent to Sony that her English career needing revamping and this is what they started with Taking Chances. Celine and her team had talked for years about recording something more "rock".

I don't think they were quite successful. In my opinion LMBTL was much more successful at reinventing or at least revamping Celine in a much more coherent and fresh way.

 

Unfortunately, it has become apparent that despite their best effort, she is not being embraced in North America. If "video killed the radio star" then the internet killed the album star. The record industry is a dying breed. People are not buying albums anymore and the reality is that 6 years was way too long to be gone. Add to that the fact that she is 45 and even an amazing song like LMBTL can't bring her back to radio.

 

In my opinion, the only song that stands a chance of getting onto radio is Incredible eventhough it is just a so so song. There are definitely worst songs on the radio. It then needs to be followed by Breakaway, if there will even be a third single. If the public wants another ballad, give 'em what they want.

 

If all of those on this forum who think that Sony will continue to invest in the Celine Dion brand if this album totally flops, watch the "il était une fois special". The music business is just that, a business. And a dying one at that. The original budget for WDMHBN was a mere $25,000. Only when her previous French album did well were Luprano and René able to convince Sony to spend $300,000.

 

Having followed Celine's career for so long, I personally don't care (as I am sure she doesn't) if radio plays her or not. But I do want her to still put out records for a while. Abd that's why I hope that the album is at least a moderate success.

 

Three weeks after LMBTL was released, I saw the writing on the wall. I was hoping to be wrong but it is what it is. Even though I got called out for "not giving it a chance". When even Quebec pop radio is not playing LMBTL, there's a serious problem. Will probably get a little more promotion until XMas and then I'm afraid that it is Kaput for this album. Just wondering if they will release Incredible before or after Xmas.

She's easily hitting those D5s here! And the album version only goes up to C5s during the choruses (which she sings when she gets inside the bathroom), I wonder why they had to lower her last live performances to B4s during the choruses :S that's like, really not showing her assets!

Ridiculous. And yet the album had only 9 original songs and 13 songs in the standard edition, when previous albums had up to 17. Then why you didn't release a double album honey, or at least an 18 track album like Alone or 17 like ANDHC? -_-

 

It's great to know she is still wanted by songwritters, but she knows we've waited 6 long years for new music. She could save for her such headlines, same as "I love Adele and she inspires me in everything I do but I didn't had the guts to ask her for a duet" :rolleyes: , yet she records the weary "WAAF". It's like putting the candy in front of our mouth and then it disappears. And she could mention who those "well known" people are at least... so everybody would know.
