So today, when the office receptionist called me telling me that there is a package for me. I was so excited and ran out to get it. But then i found two packages. So one was like a pizza box, the other package was much smaller. Then the pizza box package was actually the LP + CD. And in the smaller package, this is what i found.....lol. my coworkers photoshop my face on to the album cover...... Now they keep telling me to get it signed by Celine. Still, I felt as though this album isn't complete... probably because we had all heard Overjoyed, A17, and Unfinished Songs plus the bonus tracks HDYKTMP and Lullabye because they were sung in LV or released in a movie many months before the CD was released. That being said out of a 15 track album only 8 were truly "new songs" for me... I just feel like there's a second disc we're missing with new studio tracks (that haven't been sung in LV). Don't get me wrong, I love the album.... but it seems like an "unfinished" album. (pun intended ) I agree. I'm trying really hard to get into the flow of this album, but the second half just doesn't flow to me. There are several songs that, some better than others, they just don't fit with the first half of the album. And despite they had 6 years to look for songs, I can't help but think that in the end this has been a rushed LP (she even forgets to thank the fans in the booklet ) The strongest points in this album to me are, besides the 3 first songs, Loved Me Back To Life, Somebody Loves Someboy and Incredible, I find of top quality the songs Breakaway, Thankful and barely passed, Always Be Your Girl. The rest are fillers or on the verge of sounding like them. Note that I didn't include Save Your Soul among those stand outs. You see, I'm all for Céline when she delivers uptempo songs because she needs them so bad in her repertoire, but not at whatever cost. And Save Your Soul, despite being nice and catchy, sounds more like a leftover from TCOML or One Heart than a great uptempo song that deserved to be on her comeback english album after 6 years. Weak. Honestly, I don't think they've done their best when looking for new songs for this album. The greatest effort only came when they found the Sia song, and that was just a few months ago, 2013. What were they doing the rest of the time before, 2011 and 2012 when they were already saying that songs were coming in? Edited November 13, 2013 at 11:06 AM by Javito 2 Quote "Hush, now... tristan.josef Posted November 13, 2013 at 06:47 PM Posted November 13, 2013 at 06:47 PM so the only disappointing news really is the amount of albums sold in the US for the first week...but not its chart position. 2nd is great! and everywhere else in the world a pretty solid smash, too. hopefully this "Holiday promo plan" sony supposedly has planned will help sell even more! i have to say that I'm a little surprised it didn't surpass 100K in the USA, but was a high debut at least on the charts and am hoping the successes of this album inspire them to begin work on another in the near future 2 Quote
