"Loved Me Back To Life" album - Official Topic

I agree. I'm trying really hard to get into the flow of this album, but the second half just doesn't flow to me. There are several songs that, some better than others, they just don't fit with the first half of the album. And despite they had 6 years to look for songs, I can't help but think that in the end this has been a rushed LP (she even forgets to thank the fans in the booklet )

 

The strongest points in this album to me are, besides the 3 first songs, Loved Me Back To Life, Somebody Loves Someboy and Incredible, I find of top quality the songs Breakaway, Thankful and barely passed, Always Be Your Girl. The rest are fillers or on the verge of sounding like them.

 

Note that I didn't include Save Your Soul among those stand outs. You see, I'm all for Céline when she delivers uptempo songs because she needs them so bad in her repertoire, but not at whatever cost. And Save Your Soul, despite being nice and catchy, sounds more like a leftover from TCOML or One Heart than a great uptempo song that deserved to be on her comeback english album after 6 years. Weak.

 

Honestly, I don't think they've done their best when looking for new songs for this album. The greatest effort only came when they found the Sia song, and that was just a few months ago, 2013. What were they doing the rest of the time before, 2011 and 2012 when they were already saying that songs were coming in?

You're just never happy, boo!! I think SYS sounds very current, and it's an interesting sound for her. Love it. And I think "Thank You" has a beautiful feel to it. I think this album is full of top quality tracks.

I wish I was Robin On a different note, I have to say I love the whole blazer super high heels thing she has going on. Actually it inspired me to buy a couple nice blazers myself and get some kick #ss super high heel ankle boots (at payless lol) and when I go out I'm thinking "yes! this is such a Celine outfit" Yup, I'm nuts but it's a great style to copy I think!! I didn't say I didn't like the song, I do and a lot! But if this belonged to One Heart, TCOML or even ANDHC it would fit much better. My feeling is that this song is light years from the sound of LMBTL, which is clearly the song that sets the bar for this album, in terms of the unusual modernity it provides and the sound you could expect when you play THIS album. There are very good songs individually considered in the tracklist, but when put together, they just sound as if they were picked from different past albums and different years, like 1993, 2003, 1997, 1992 etc... I'm not discovering gunpowder here honey, we all know that Céline's english albums usually lack of coherence as a whole, and to me this is one of the most incoherent works she has put out. There's absolutely no nexus between the songs (not to mention the covers issue or when you jump from Save Your Soul to At Seventeen, or from Somebody Loves Somebody to Didn't Know Love or Overjoyed, it's like having "Naked" or "I Drove All Night" between a duet with Sinatra in All The Way and TFTEISYF in the All The Way album). Its clear Céline's team has no care when putting together a tracklist (at least in her english albums)

 

Not in vain they had no clue what to do with this album still this past spring/summer, so its not a surprise to see that the album has a variety of songs and styles that collide one with each other because they were picked with a different project of album in mind at each moment (first they were thinking in half Vegas/half new songs album, then they were thinking of a full album of originals, then they wanted to give the album and "Adele style", then they went back again to keeping some of the Vegas covers, then the main song which was supposed to be the title of the album -WAAF- was dropped and LMBTL came in -a song and style whose sound is RADICALLY different from the rest of the album).....This album is probably the album which has had the most troubles in the making and misconceptions of her career, and its evident when you listen it

We do! like, we can listen through our eyes... Most people can tell someone lipping when they watch and listen to a performance. We just need a blurry still where u can see a 20% of her mouth and we're 99.9% sure it was playback!

Celine looks great in blue and that picture behind her back fits the blazer so well

 

The album is GREAT, so far I'm way too excited about it to write something that wouldn't seem insane so probably later But still!.. I just HAVE to say this - 'Thank You' is one of my favorite Celine's songs now I keep it on repeat so it plays on and on and on... Such a catchy song, once I heard this I kept singing fot the rest of the day 'thank you because u didn't have to, thank u...'

So, apparently the CD+DVD version from amazon.de is on backorder already even though I pre-ordered it and it was "released" yesterday.

 

I'm expecting I'll get an email soon saying that it's cancelled and that we're not getting a DVD...

 

Or maybe the album will be re-released at Christmas time with the Yule Log DVD of "These Are Special Times."
