dj_a_rock Posted November 1, 2013 at 02:13 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 02:13 PM This is the official final projection? Too low, but let's hope for longevity Yeah. Why so low? Quote
Ororo Munroe Posted November 1, 2013 at 02:34 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 02:34 PM Please, stay positive, I 'm sure she will do more, maybe 150K or 170k. In France she starded last year at 90K and nobody thought she could do that. Quote
isurrender Posted November 1, 2013 at 02:47 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 02:47 PM No, that's not logical thinking at all - that's you adding 2 + 2 and getting 5. I accept that many people - including me - were expecting her to top 300,000 copies first week. But ultimately, she did 50% more than her previous album in its first week, which is more than the industry standard for female artists. The problem these days is that chart watchers expect too much. I'm not gonna argue about it ( especially because I really don't care about Perry's sales) but after the big success of TD, the first sales of Prism was for sure set to be bigger than the previous album. Nothing to be surprised by. And that's without mentionning Roar's impact is bigger than Teenage Dream... Quote

I thought Prism would have a huge sales because the song and the promotion all over the place, it's like the moon, where ever you go it's following you that what's make me hate her in the end because it's kinda annoying if it's too much. GoldenLeaf Posted November 1, 2013 at 08:55 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 08:55 PM (edited) I think LMBTL will debut with 200,000 copies in the U.S. (yep! higher sales number than the projected figure) Edited November 1, 2013 at 08:57 PM by GoldenLeaf Quote
nuts2you Posted November 1, 2013 at 09:07 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 09:07 PM I'm going to guess 350,000 world wide, hoping it pass SA numbers, Quote
LukeD Posted November 1, 2013 at 09:20 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 09:20 PM If she sells 136k in Us, then she might sell over 400k worldwide since she always sells 2/3 of her copies outside US. This album will probably surpass the debut sales of 'Sans Attendre' in Canada since it's an English album. 'A New Day Has Come' & 'One Heart' both had bigger debut sales than '1 Fille & 4 Types', and 'Taking Chances' bigger than 'D'elles'. What do you guys think? Quote
yoyoma Posted November 1, 2013 at 09:30 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 09:30 PM tbh, i am kinda worried about the sales of this album, the heap is not even half huge of taking chances era.. I often think cbs special was the X factor that could propel the sales in the US and she is not having one this year, with no major TV performance award show or oprah, she is counting on holiday season buying power. celinefan1985 Posted November 1, 2013 at 10:07 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 10:07 PM I think she will open with 100k to 120K max. Quote

Rossum89 Posted November 1, 2013 at 10:17 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 10:17 PM The industry has changed so much since Taking Chances was released. I'd love to see huge numbers but I have no high expectation. 90k-115k. Quote http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/3003/newconcertdvddesign3.jpgCredit goes to Timster for the great pic! pat200 Posted November 1, 2013 at 10:45 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 10:45 PM i say 230k. there is some more buzz about it now in the states. i can see 400k+ worldwide. Quote
Bóól'át'í Posted November 1, 2013 at 11:30 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 11:30 PM Some of these numbers some people are mentioning are impossible. I agree with whoever said people are expecting too much (even when numbers are there for everyone to see). Quote
Peppercorn1991 Posted November 1, 2013 at 11:59 PM Posted November 1, 2013 at 11:59 PM Well she just sold 10,000 copies in 30 mins on qvc Who knows ... I've not made a projection as I have no clue with this stuff, leave it to you knowledgable guys Kev x 2 Quote

Yeah. I'm scared on what will happen if she release an album in the US without Oprah or a CBS Special. The promotion in the US is very poor and pathetic! Quote
mebe Posted November 2, 2013 at 04:29 AM Posted November 2, 2013 at 04:29 AM I said 170 000 awhile ago and i'm going to stick to that number! But secretly I hope it's going to be over 200 000 ! Quote

The winner of the Guess The Opening Week sales estimate contest is...Nando Ferri. He made a bold estimate of 80,000 first week copies - exactly the same projected estimate of HDD! Of course, the final sales tally might be more than this! But its doubtful. Well done Nando! Most of us made some form of outrageous comment in this thread, but none moreso than me! 1 Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

Kyle_Jared Posted November 8, 2013 at 02:19 AM Posted November 8, 2013 at 02:19 AM can't believe it's only going to do 80k. My parents have been big Celine fans their whole lives (like me) and they bought the new cd. They like it. but you know, my mom's favorite songs were "At Seventeen" "Overjoyed" and "Unfinished Songs"--so there ya go. If she sang At Seventeen or Overjoyed on some talk shows she may actually, get higher numbers. Because as much as we hate to face it---it's the long time "soccer moms" and older generation---"Michael Buble" buyers and Josh Groban buyers getting her music. She has been doing really young shows--Fallon--Kimmel, etc. Singing very modern song--WHICH I LOVE! and it's great--but she needs to let buyers that may have shyed away from buying, that it's still classic Celine. 1 Quote
