Cher definitely made a comeback!

After 4 weeks her album is still inside the top 10 in the US, her second single is a TOP 40 hit in the UK, and she's increasing her sales! :w00t:

 

CLOSER TO THE TRUTH (BB 200 chartrun)

1- #3 63,000

2- #8 25,000

3- #11 30,000

4- #10 37,200

 

 

 

I hope we get the same surprise with Céline!!!! :wub:

Eminem will destroy her, but that's to be expected.

 

 

With her label reportedly shipping only 270,000 copies during week one, it doesn't fill me with anticipation - I was hoping that they'd ship closer to 400,000 copies during the first week :(

That's true... I'm still wondering if Céline's visit to the UK will have the same impact it had on Cher... (#4 album #25 song) and her Lyric video is getting over 20k views per day, whilst Céline's is getting less than 10k and it's newer :S

Céline performed the song on two US shows, and that's it - a couple of interviews a successful song does not make!

 

I hope she goes all out for promo during the album launch, she needs to. Anything less than 40k first week UK sales is a disaster.

Right, but how soon can they increase shipments if sales exceed expectations? Can they do this within days, or would it have to wait until the following week?

Unlike Cher, Céline hasn't done much promo yet so most people don't even know she has a new single... Views should go up after all the promo and once the album is out. :D

Berzerk, Survival and Rap God all sold well on iTunes. The first one is the official, the others are buzz singles. :)

 

Owww so Rap God is a song tittle. I think i have read somewhere, i didn't realize it was a song.

They can rush ship the albums - looking at probably 5-6 days. Otherwise, they'd have to stick with the usual weekly shipments.

 

Sans attendre would've sold even more in France if the shipments during the early stages had been better anticipated.

maybe a miracle will happen for celine to anti-destroy e. of course not the first week, maybe the second or the third week, but wait a second,...oh no...there is gaga on the way on nov. 22. d**n it!

i think Eminem is simply being ungrateful, celine has spoken nice of him in public so many times and menioned that RC likes his music. how dare him set his launch day on nov. 5th! i think in nov. 5th, ill take a gun and stand at the door of music store and shoot everyone that dresses like a hip-hop lover, inculding RC, yes, you hear me right, Rene Charles! ya better stay at home. :guns: :giggle:

i dont think it would be that much. selling 800k for the first week is like something that hppens bfore 2000.

No it won't; Justin sold nearly 1m in his first week earlier this year.

 

Eminem could do even more than 800k.

No it's totally possible nowadays too, because Taylor Swift's album "Red" sold 1.208.000 copies in its first week in 2012 and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" sold 1.108.000 in its first week in 2011.

A friend told me yesterday Billboard expected Aguilera's ''Lotus'' to enjoy great success but the album was a huge flop. Also, do they always announce their predictions about 2 weeks before the album release? I had a different impression. Also, is it impossible that these figures change once Celine promotes the album the following days? I predicted 370k for the first week and I don't want to be way off! :pinch:

Lotus was never going to be a big success; nobody ever thought it would either, given the preceding album was such a flop for Aggie.

 

You are way off - I'm afraid that she'll be fortunate to clear half of what you estimated.

 

Yes, labels make predictions 2 weeks or more before; they do this so they can decide how many albums to ship to retail. Firstly, you get label predictions, then you get industry predictions [billboard or Hits Daily Double] and then you get actual sales.

 

Typically these days, an album will sell three times its opening week shipment - that is an industry expectation; obviously there will be exceptions to this, but labels will typically ship enough copies to see this through as a minimum. Meaning she'll at least go Gold.

So Lady Gaga's album is to be released November 11 as well, so I'm starting to hope for Top 5 in general. Pre-Christmas time is really not the right time to release an album if you want it to be #1 :giggle:

Radical Academy is different at least... but the voice sounds really in the back!

 

It's a hard song to remix, indeed, because of its tempo! Someone needs to turn it into a club anthem! And then Céline could have a shot at a #1 on the BB dance/club chart!

If the only promo she is doing State side is Today/The View the week before the album I think it' safe t say she can do around 150K. Max. She may even do less since there was no official video, etc. It's scaring me that she will only do around 125K which is really low. I'll stick to my 165K opening figure at #2 behind Eminem.

 

IF she does more promo such as Live with Kelly and Michael, maybe even Dancing with Stars, etc. then she will open north of 150-160K

 

It's really tough right now cause she has been absent from promo since last month....next week will break or make

Luke, you're usually pretty bang on about stuff, but you're going to be way off for opening numbers state side. Take your figure and divide it in half...and then minus some more...and that's where she'll land. Mark my words
