What do you expect "Loved Me Back To Life" to sell, in its opening week [USA]?

If like me, you are interested in charts/sales - I've spent the last 8 years nigh on obsessed and have collated sales/estimations for nearly 200 artists - then this will appeal to you!

 

Its simple - the US is the biggest market in the world for recorded music - not necessarily for Celine, but in general: with this said, what sales do you expect Celine Dion to achieve with Water and a Flame in its first week?

 

I will collate, and come October - we can crown a winner: the person that comes closest, wins! With this in mind, here's a bit of perspective...

 

Celine Dion - Opening Week Studio Album Sales [and peaks in parentheses] Tallies in the USA - 00's

 

[2002] A New Day Has Come - 558,000 [#1]

[2003] One Heart - 432,000 [#2]

[2005] Miracle - 108,000 [#4]

[2007] Taking Chances - 215,000 [#3]

[2013] Water and a Flame - ?? [?]

 

All of the above have sold at least 1 million copies in the US; her biggest-seller is A New Day Has Come which has sold roughly 3.5 million copies.

 

So, what do we expect for Water and a Flame?

I am going to be conservative, and estimate that given its a fourth quarter release, she will sell quite well but peak a bit lower as the competition is stiffer.

I'm gonna place a 195,000 estimate and a number 2 debut.

 

I hope it's higher, but I also think there will be stiff competition.

200,000 would be great :) Don't know if it's within their reach though. A successful first single could be very helpful in boosting that number a bit.

I guess collaboration with Ne-Yo (as long as it's the first single) could only help reach that 200k level. B)

If only we would know the exact release date... it all depends on competition that week...

Anyway, let's say 210,000 for a #1 album!! Let's be positive! :D

 

EDIT: But they'd better release that Ne-Yo duet as 1st single. Even if it's not the best single on the album, the Ne-Yo appearance will be a great help for radio spins... And as you know, Sony never picks the best song as 1st single anyway so...!! ;)

Something tells me this song can be pretty good or great even (if we were to believe Ne-Yo's own words). :-D

226,000 The vibe seems good for this album and she's been consistently been in the press and being talk about in a positive light this year. With the success of SA I think Sony USA and Int'l will appropriately promote this lp as it should!

To me, 200k seem to be the most realistic option, as of now. ^_^ Let's see what happens when the first single hits the radio stations.

I go with 170 000 and #2 (hard to say because I don't know what will be the competitors! but that number could be #1 or #3 too, hard to say...)
