Second single: "Incredible" - Duet with Ne-Yo

Time to look at the bigger picture. No matter what her team did the song would eventually flop because of lack of airplay...! This is pretty much the case for over 12 years now...! Just be happy we are getting a music video and that we already have at least one live performance to be proud of.

 

They should aim at the UK! With a video and a couple of tv appearances + the radio deal with Radio 2 the song has potential to become a Top 10 hit and perform even better than LMBTL!

I kinda do agree with you... but as a fan, I would love to see Celine's music spread to a wide audience! Sure not every song on LMBTL is amazing, but there are songs, and of course there are VOCALS that are a 1000 times better than the current sh!t I hear on the radio now! She might not be cool... and tho it might seems (for the outside world) she doesn't care anymore... her music should be respected and not ignored!

I think in regards to the Olympics, what we will get (if anything) is that the networks will use it as the music for their end-of-olympics montage. CBC always has one that they put to some sort of Oylmpics-related song. They've done it with the Superman song form Five For Fighting, the "Good to Be Alive" song, and others. I think that for at least CBC they have probably chosen the track for that last segment (if the network is going to use it all).

 

It is very disappointing that the song has not gained more traction, considering that this would have been such an EASY song to promote. I don't think that a video would have made much of a difference, but had Celine and Ne-yo done a few more major appearances in the U.S. and Sony gave more of an effort to promote the song at radio, this song could have been a moderate hit single. I think what we have to realize is that although Celine and her team do want the work to be a success, it is by no means a priority. Celine continues to release music because she finds pleasure from it. With her English music, she gave up trying to be relevant once she entered Vegas. Her french material has way more artistic merit than her last few English recordings and I would not mind if in the far future when Vegas is done she simply only focuses on French work (let's face it, those albums from Dion Chante Plamondon forward have always been where the true 'artist' has come out in the studio). To her credit, A New Day... was a huge artistic achievement in terms of live performance. If Celine is interested in contributing anything to the states, it seems to be on the Vegas stage. The fact that she did the duet with Ne-yo does suggest that there is still a part of her team that would like commercial success, but at the end of the day when the motivation is not there, it's not there. As long as we , the devoted fans, continue to purchase the music and see the shows, Sony will be happy. They count on us and , unlike radio and the media, we are loyal.

 

yea i thought at first that incredible would have been used for the end-of-the-olympics montages and tv coverages, but unfortunately i do not think that incredible is gonna be used AT ALL, cuz i have been watching the olympics and watching the tv news coverage and i have even watched the closing ceremony last night and earlier this morning i was watching the today show where they were talking about the olympics quite a few times during the entire show, AND NOPE INCREDIBLE WAS NOT PLAYED ONE SINGLE TIME AS USUAL NO SURPRISE, AND NO SIGNS OF THE VIDEO EITHER WHICH IM NOT SURPRISED AT ALL... the reasoning behind that theory with celines videos is cuz look at her past videos that she made during the past 15-20-something years, for example: the singles and videos for "if walls could talk", "goodbyes the saddest word", "then you look at me", "did you give enough love", "the last to know", "nothings broken but my heart", "water from the moon", "only one road", "misled", "falling into you" (the song), "one heart", "have you ever been in love", "taking chances", and "eyes on me", (and these are just singles and videos that i can think of off the top of my head, since theres a list that someone on here listed last week of all the flop singles that celine has released during her career so far, and many of the songs and videos that i just named are on the same list of the flop singles as well, its not a coincidence isnt it lol... all those wonderfulvsongs thst were released but didnt become big hits and their retrospective videos also werent shown on tv at the times of the singles releases and were put away until years later in the late 2000s when youtube.com came into existence and the videos for those beautiful and underrated songs were finally shown to the world cuz of youtube, even though they were NEVER, EVER shown on MTV or even on VH1, (who had at least showed some of celines videos in the past for her big hits, unlike MTV who i dont think had ever played a celine dion music video ever except maybe "my heart will go on" cuz of the titanic craze lol, but i havent seen any other celine videos on that channel ever, MTV always hated her)...

 

i know about this cuz i used to watch a whole lot of VH1 videos and MTV videos back in the day (back when they actually played music videos and didnt have nothing but crappy and stupid reality shows on like both channels do now that seriously dont have anything to do with music, the good old days... i think both MTV and VH1 suck nowadays)... but i honestly DO NOT ever remember seeing the videos for the songs that i mentioned above that were not big hits for celine on tv AT ALL and i didnt even know that any of those songs had music videos for many years until i started watching videos on youtube a few years ago and i stumbled across those hidden gems that i didnt even know existed... so there you go, if sony could do that with many of her other videos from the past (and videos that were made back in the 90s and early 2000s when celine was still very popular and didnt have any albums that flopped as badly as lmbtl album did), whos to say that the same fate wont happen to incredibles music video???? especially with the single being such a big flop now and the whole lmbtl album being the biggest flop of her career so far... and knowing sony and their way of thinking, at least when it comes to celine dion that is, theyre most likely thinking that "hmmm since the song 'incredible' and the 'lmbtl' album is a massive flop, lets just shelf the video just like her other flops, then maybe bring the video out in a few years and put it on youtube if we feel like it... whatever, who cares about celine, ho-hummm"... i sooooo agree with you 100 % davey, i also know that even though being on the charts these days is not as imporyant to celine as it used to be back in the day... but it still is very important to the record labels, like sony, who at the end of the day only care about money and sales much more than they care about the singers and bands themselves that they help manage, since they are a business first and foremost, and most businesses tend to think mostly about money and how to keep their businesses and finances afloat, and keep all of their paying customers happy and to keep them coming back for more so that they can make even more money lol... yes that sounds kinda harsh doesnt it, and yes i really do think its kinda harsh too, but its reality, thats how most successful businesses and companies have to think nowadays unfortunately... :(

 

and i also worry about if celine does have too many flops in her career like she has in recent years, (now adding incredible and loved me back to life, both single and album, to the ever-growing list thats on another thread around here), then sony might just decide to drop her off their rouster, just like many other record labels have done to other singers and bands who once were big stars with lots of hits and everything, but then started to go downhill to having no hits at all and nothing but flops like celine has, since she hasnt had any hits in her english career in 10 years or something like that, (which is a really big number of years for someone like celine to not have one single hit, not a good thing at all)... and shudder to think, if that does happen to celine, there wont be any more albums from celine dion ever again (IF THAT EVER HAPPENS IT WOULD REALLY SUCK, CUZ CELINE STILL DOES HAVE AN AMAZING VOICE AND SOUNDS ALOT BETTER THAN MOST OF THE OTHER YOUNGER FEMALE SINGERS OUT THERE TODAY)... unfortunately most big-time record labels are willing to get rid of whoever they think are "dead weight" and are not going to sell enough albums, not gather enough hit singles off of said albums, or not bring them in more money in general... yes its very harsh to read and hear, but unfortunately its the cold, sad truth, thats just the way things are these days...

 

and another thing, the songwriters who contribute songs to celine might stop doing that and might not want to work with her anymore if knowing that their songs, if they get picked as singles, wont get support from radio stations or anyone else... like for example look at ne-yo, who according to the making-of video for incredible was talking about how awesome and wonderful it was to work with celine, and yes even though he did perform the song 3 times live with celine ( on the voice season finale, on celines home for the holidays special, and when ne-yo showed up at ceasars palace and performed incredible with celine on at her new years eve show), and they did film the music video together A WHOLE MONTH AGO NOW (and who knows where sony is hiding the video at right now lol)... BUT NOW EVEN NE-YO HIMSELF HAS STOPPED SUPPORTING THE SONG AND DOESNT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT INCREDIBLE OR EVEN ABOUT WORKING WITH CELINE HERSELF ANYMORE AT ALL EITHER LIKE HE USED TO, UNLESS HES BEING INTERVIEWED ALONGSIDE CELINE, SUCH AS WITH 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA' AND 'ACCESS HOLLYWOOD' WHEN HE HAD TO TALK ABOUT INCREDIBLE SINCE THEY WERE SHOOTING THE MUSIC VIDEO AT THE TIME AND ALL... This has nothing to do with it being Celine's fault. This has nothing to do with it being radio's fault. This is totally and 100% management's fault. This is totally and 100% the fault of the record label. Many of the things which could have been done with "Incredible" (or many other singles by Celine) could have been done withOUT Celine once the song(s) was/were recorded. It's all just so sad and pathetic.

As much as I'd like to agree completely, I just can't considering there a lot of factors behind this album flopping. We can be splitting hairs as to what could have been done and in what way. But hey, all if coulda, woulda, shoulda.

 

Most importantly, we must respect that Celine's team and even Sony hasn't given up on a flop album (in the US and most major markets). They're still pushing out singles and having them sent to the radios to be played. We should give credit where credit is due.

I was perplexed why AllAccess had 'Incredible' listed for HAC adds. Celine's not a HAC radio staple but her songs could be played on AC stations. But it doesn't matter as all AC related stations will undoubtedly ignore 'Incredible' again.

Thanks for sharing this. And I think we need to put this into perspective -- If you look at that list of top A/C songs -- how many other artists on that list were on the charts AT ALL 20 years ago? Mariah is the only one I see; even she is quite low on these current charts. Not too many of these artists were on the charts at all even 10 years ago. And we're talking about the A/C charts! It's just really, really rare for an artist to stay on top of the charts over a 20-30 year span. She had amazing chart runs in the 90s . . . she's still having an amazing career, but I think expecting her to rule the charts again is unrealistic.

Incredible could do with an Unfinished Songs style makeover that beat is far too mild for a modern pop song. A remix or two would also be very welcome.
