"One Heart" album - Official Topic

I don't think they released One Heart to promote it and tour the world... etc like they did for example with The Colour Of My Love, Falling Into You, Let's Talk About Love and Taking Chances. Celine herself said in a promotional interview back in 2003 that the main point of this album was to please the fans with these songs. Like a "gift" for us. yes, of course, we all know that. but that doesn't mean they couldn't have released good singles, with good videos and a tv appearance every now and then

Yeah exactly Davey. No-one was expecting a tour but someone at the record label could've said "Hey instead of making a green screen video for the already released Have You Even Been In Love, why don't we make a cool hip video for the modern sounding Reveal?"

That's true, she performed "live" just 3 of the 14 songs from One Heart while Miracle took 9 of its 14 songs to a stage in front of an audience. That's a HUGE difference. But we have to consider that the promotional tour for One Heart consisted on very few appearances (Today Show, promotional videos of OH, HYEBIL and MHWGO... and I think that's it... oh no! how could I forget??!?! Oprah Winfrey also mentioned the release date of the album during an interview with Celine in Vegas... The promotion for Miracle was much more complete.

 

However, OH was well received if we consider that thanks to this album, Celine received an American Music Award in November of 2003.

Love this album. It's fresh, optimistic, uptempo and has great songs. I especially love "Faith", "Coulda woulda shoulda", "Stand by your side", "Naked".... and, of course, "I drove all night".

I feel like Céline doesn't want hits (and the extra work) anymore.... from all her albums since 2002 she could have had at least 2 top 20 hits from each album, but they seem to choose the weakest singles somehow I think she's happy with just good album sales and hits aren't needed

I honestly never really cared about the charts, and never will. Celine is an artist, that's what counts. I don't mind about a number 1 song, of course, it's a thrill not only for her but for all of us; but, if not, what's the problem? People might forget her? I don't think so, she'll always be the "Titanic" woman for the general public. At least that's something. The most important thing is to enjoy what she has given to us over the years.

Agree, but I guess it makes me feel a little better about being an uber-fan when she is relevant/current.

I didn't know this, thanks for letting me know. Now I see it in a different way. Now I can say I...understand it much more.

That's right. Well actually I think it was not a bad idea after all. The only thing we could regret would have been the lack of promotion, but why do you need to promote an album that you release just to please your fans?

Back in 03 I looved me some OH! I remember I had a count down for that album. At the time I thought that was Celine's most diverse album to date, and one of her best. Now I just think OH is a compilation of rejected songs left over from ANDHC(minus a few songs). I hate that they put HYEBIL on that album as well. That was dumb of Sony's part to even put that there. DUMB!!!!

 

It's not a bad album but Taking Chances trumps this one, and the rest of her other one's (minus LTAL). I like most of her albums it's just TC had more diversity and it showed more of Celine's influences. This was an album that had songs you wouldn't expect her to sing. I complete 180 turn from her last stuff.

How do you know this for sure?

 

I've always thought they should have re-released the ANDHC album in fall 2002/early 2003 and include all this songs as a special edition instead of the cheap one we got in november 2002... and continue the promo of ANDHC instead of doing another album (One Heart) but...

not the album "one heart" went out because sony is not entirely satisfied with the sales of "a new day has come" ... So they has decided to release a new album to try to sell as much as the previous ...

Come on! Do you really believe that OH was released as a gift for her fans while she was in Vegas? It's business baby! Sony released that because she had recorded IDAN for Chrysler and they knew that she would be on the adds and that would be everywhere to promote her shows. It's almost a Chrysler album! I remember seeing somewhere that in some country the album even came with Chrysler's logo. That's why we have so much tracks from others recording sessions, just to complete the track list.

 

By the way, the Sorry For Love version in OH isn't the original. That's a remix. The original one is on ANDH.

By the way, the Sorry For Love version in OH isn't the original. That's a remix. The original one is on ANDH.

 

To my knowledge SFL on OH is the original version. But in the process of recording ANDHC producer Peer Astrom remixed the song to sound more uptempo because they already had so many slow or medium fast songs. This version was then chosen to be on ANDHC and was slated for the first single release before Céline recorded the title track. Therefor the version on OH is the original recording. You can also hear the alteration in the bridge. OH has the original vocals, while the ANDHC version extends Céline's "sorry" just before the last chorus.

 

As for I Know What love Is, it is a song originally recorded for the ATW album. But they rerecorded it for OH because Céline's voice sounded different.

Yes! I've always thought that, since OH has many leftovers from ANDHC sessions, the day we can positively know which songs are from ANDHC days (apart from Coulda Woulda Shoulda and All Because Of You), I'm going to make my own album for ANDHC and edit the back cover adding all these tracks to make a 2 CD set
