Do not understand why Sony did not release Reveal during summer 2003. Penned by Cathy Dennis who was in high demand at the period: she wrote 2001 hit Can't get you out of my head for Kylie Minogue and Britney's Toxic released in 2004 ... oh boy ;) :hmm:

Nobody does.

It would have been sooooo amazing!

Wish she would add it to her live shows

Because Celine’s team is so stupid. And Celine’s team at Sony Music deliberately wanted her to be ignored everywhere with the singles they sent to radios. There’s no other logical explanation.

Instead they released jetaime encore. good song, but with the most horrible music video she ever filmed. Short blond hair, lots of random people and she looks as if she was sick.

I love this song to heaven (english and french) but I have to agree with you, in the video she looks pretty sick.

I agree with you. It seems that Céline has someone inside Sony who wants to boycott her, end her career, this is so notorious, I believe.

Really? Not the fact that they were merely releasing singles that fit the reputation that she had already created for herself? Not to say that I agree with their choices...but to say Sony was deliberately sabotaging the career of one of their biggest assets is asinine.

Don't think it's boycott, it's more a very different/old-fashioned (dated)/not workable vision of her career. Unfortunately.

Probably because she’s an established artist. Record companies tend to put money into newer, charting artists. The ones who have airplay, get to number ones and win awards. Celine had her time. Like she says, she has her career. People know who she is. If she can occasionally surprise people with an appearance, performance, or a mv like Ashes, then I’m happy. It’s a shame this is the way it is, but we all know this is today’s music industry.

Call it boycott or the name it pleases you the most, but with the poor, inexplicable single choices and songs they sent to radios, it certainly looked as if they deliberatedly didn't want Céline to overshadow other artists in the house (e.g. Beyoncé, Shakira, who were both rising names in Sony Music back in 2002 and 2003).

Not to sabotage her career, as Céline's career was richer and bigger than that since she had a double career also in French, but trying not to have more/bigger success with her singles than those of these emerging artists I mentioned, which is quite plausible (and actually that's what happened in the end -_-)

Who in his right mind would send to radios songs like GTSW, At Last or HYEBIL before Right In Front Of You, Sorry For Love, When The Wrong One Loves You Right, Naked, Faith or Reveal? Only someone who wants so hard that Céline's album goes unnoticed on radios, in favour of other artist's singles to receive more airplay and get more attention. Even if those artists are signed in the same record company as Céline.

Add to this that Céline was about to start her Vegas confinement in 2003 and she wouldn't be able to fulfill any regular promo schedule in support of future singles, and the operation to ignore Céline's music on radios was served on a silver platter. She paved the way for these other Sony Music artists (and any other rising names in the industry for the matter) to get more attention than her on radios with this action.

Btw she could have well lived with her long-stablished French career for the rest of her days if someone had tried to sink her international English career lol

And oh, "asinine", I learnt a new English word today. More elegant than directly calling me stupid, thank you -_- :giggle:

Just one more proof that this One Heart album wasn't just another new studio album like the others, and served more for pure contractual purposes with the recent deal signed with Chrysler than for merely artistic/musical purposes.

This particular version (made in Argentina) directly includes Chrysler's logo on the front cover and inside and speaks of Céline's "brand new song" I Drove All Night, "included in this album"... Wait, isn't the rest of the album also new???

You are welcome, and your hypohesis is beyond reaching for something plausible. Celine was NEVER a top 40 singles artist. It wasn't going to magically happen 12 years into her English career. She had very few top 10s on the Hot 100. In sorry you were so late to jump on the bandwagon, but the be all/end all of her career was not in 2002. She had many years of success and recognition before that. Sony simply used the formula that was laid out for Celine. Was it the best choice for singles? No. Is she at this point 50 years old, and still I'm high demand? Absolutely. You often say you don't care about numbers and charts and success for singles, but then you contradict yourself with posts like this. Pick a side of the fence, Javito. Playing both sides never served anyone in a positive manner.

How many times has it been agreed upon that "One Heart" was a promotion for AND and the Chrysler campaign (a company that sponsored her show)?! You bring this up as if nobody has ever said it or agreed to it. I thought we all had this conspiracy theory that most of the songs from this album were from the ANDHC sessions. A bunch of us even scammed the liner notes of the album for copyright dates. Yet, you still bring it up as if it's some type of theory that still needs to be proven. We may never know the actual specifics. Move on.

I adore that song, but sowmthing always stood out to me. As we know the song was first included on “A New Day Has Come” and then later on “One Heart”. Does anyone else believe that the track on “One Heart” that came late on is actually the original.?

5he opening music on the ANDHC version seems more remix than the later version. I like both versions but prefer the slower version on OH over the quicker one on ANDHC. Anyone know the deal, is the later version indeed the original or is the original the first version of the song that was included on ANDHC, and til this day is dumfounds me how they recycled the song and used it again and NEVER released it as a single.

And I never talked about figures and numbers and charts, indeed. Just for saying that Sony sent the wrong singles to radios so that she didn’t overshadow other SM artists doesn’t mean I necessarily wanted her to be #1, not even close. Not that I care the least about what chart position did she get with it, but I DO care if she had potential singles that are screaming to be sent to radios (like everyone here appreciates and we all know which they are) and then Sony screws it up and sends the worsr choices.

Trying to stablish her reputation/image on radios? What kind of bullshit excuse are you trying to defend now? It’s astonishing the kind of stupid/nonsensical arguments you can come up with just to defend the bad decisions in her career. Seriously? After a #1 global hit like ANDHC (REMIX), after another successful uptempo song like I’m Alive? After a dance single like IDAN? Do you really want to make us believe that her team is so stupid so as to cut off that winning streak of her on radios and absolutely kill it with a song that talks about the loss of a mother or a heavy ballad like HYEBIL? LOL, that’s not to stablish any image of her on radios, that’s only made to kill the good run of her album and try her new single to go completely unnoticed in favor of other competitors. That said specially when it became CLEAR that in 2002 Sony wanted to bring Celine to a wider audience and conquer a younger generation of fans, as it was obvious with all the kind of TV shows she visited, radio stations and magazines and publications where the album was marketed and advertised. Like never before.

I’m very happy with the success she had before Vegas, but it’s undeniable and we all know she could have had much more with the right single choices (which weren’t, with the third single of ANDHC and third single from IDAN). That’s not being on two sides of the fences, that’s being realistic.

You say it all to yourself and deviate and draw the conclusions you always want in your interest to try to ridicule other people’s posts (like your dear friend Luke ). That’s the fence’s side I won’t walk

I bring it up to share the pictures of a particular version of the album that may be interesting/unknown to other fans. I always like to share new pictures that I find, and if I can support an opinion of mine with sources or pictures, the better. Deal with it!

You don’t dictate what we can talk/say or discuss here, or when it’s the appropriate time to do so, no matter how hard you try ;)

I don't want to burst any bubble, but "brand new song" is just the same as 'featuring the hit single' etc etc... it's just focussing on the main single of the album ;) And we all know some songs are leftovers from ANDHC, but some were recorded for OH.

I guess same goes for SFL as for HYEBIL... they still saw potential in the song, so they included it in the new album to maybe release it as a single, but for whatever reason, that did not happen.

I think it's a same it wasn't released from ANDHC. It had hit written all over it! And even more remixes would have killed it!! It's almost like back then they were afraid to have a hit, because Céline had the obligation of Vegas already

IMO they should have released:

1. ANDHC

2. IA

3. SFL

4. IS

5. RIFOY

6. HYEBIL

From OH they should have released:

1. IDAN

2. Naked

3. Faith

4. IHT

5. OH

of course all with video's, physical singles, remixes etc etc :P :giggle:

Yeah, but I mean the way they mention it in those Spanish words. The phrasing is very important, as they say "in this CD you will find the new song IDAN", but they don't mention it is actually a whole "brand new album", as if the only "new" song was the single IDAN. Why wouldn't they? Of course they're not going to admit the only newly recorded song in here is IDAN, but still... the phrasing :innocent:

Which other songs were recorded for OH, besides IDAN? I don't have any confirmation of that, and you know I tried hard...

We never got proof of more songs, no picture nor video footage of her recording more songs than IDAN, and this only happened with this album. Even with old albums like Unison or Celine Dion we do have more graphic material of her in the recording studio than with this 2003 release.

I agree with those choices! "Naked" and "Faith" were screaming to be singles in 2003, I don't get why people say that the OH album feels dated from the beginning... i don't think it sounded dated then and I still don't think it sounds dated. A few songs on the "Unison " and "Celine Dion " album do.

Yes, OH has an amazing production. ANDHC and CD are too sterile for my taste and Unison sounds dated in the 80s on some songs (f.ex. Love by another name (horrible)).
