Hey LukeD check this out

It proves that Celine can hit those note with great chest voice. I wish that Celine would hit those notes again in studio.

Still I wonder how would naked sound if she recorded it today.

I don't want to go on with this here because I'm bored of arguing with the same people who provoke silly debates to spend their time. I'll PM you.

I understand what you said, I simply pointed out that pop singers are much more than 'intentional results and relatively healthy singing', hell there are vocalists out there whose connected range spans 3 octaves. Other than that, it is obvious you disagree just for the sake of disagreeing. If the vocal teacher in the video could not persuade you with his definition of proper mixing (something Celine did not do in the note we were talking about as her mixing was uneven), then there is no chance I am going to do it. I stop replying here.

it MAY be "proper" mixing, i (and classical singing) disagree with the mixed voice in general though (apart from very low notes), maybe now its clear. and though celine is not a classical singer i believe she tries to apply this concept these days singing in head voice alone (when style allows it (not in LMBTL for example) ) from a (higher than a classical singer would) point up and i applaud her (and whoever is teaching her and got her voice out of her nose) for that.

i'm glad it stops here cause its obviously pointless to continue. Though this is not a forum for vocal technique i can't stand by reading "truths" i don't agree with and say nothing.

 You are not fooling anyone here, you have never called out other members on their invalid comments around vocal technique and singing in general, it is just me and it has happened more than once, so don't tell me that you generally can't stand reading inaccuracies and say nothing. There have been tons of comments around placement and technique which are wrong, much praising for performances that are objectively off and I have never seen one tiny comment from you about it. Remember how many people supported the first TV performances of 'Loved Me Back To Life' where Celine displayed major intonation issues? Again, there was no comment from you. Moreover, it makes no sense to come for my comments about singing aspects which are controversial. And as if that was not enough you are being both sarcastic and dismissive. I can't believe we posted so many comments just to end up saying 'I and classical singing disagree with the mixed voice'. Cool, I will stand by the fact that pop female singers mix to reach high notes. F#4 is the end of pure chest voice for female singers. Anyway, so much drama for nothing! I hope you figure out why you are only coming for my comments and also why you acted as if I said something totally invalid (the reason why you said I am an ignorant) while in facts my opinion is supported by every female pop singer out there (Celine included) and a good portion of vocal teachers too. Can't believe the arguments are still going on, is this going to drag on all year?

I think that 2013 wasn't a bad year to be a Celine fan, great new album and she got out of Vegas for a little while.

Contrast this with 2003, shortly after the release of OH one of my friends told me that even Celine's record label didn't want to release her music. The uk fans anger at Sony for not releasing the IDAN single had been picked up on by at least one newspaper.

A few weeks later when the OH single was released I couldn't find a copy anywhere. Amazon uk told me the single was unavailable and cancelled my pre-order. Took two months before I was able to get the single from a seller on amazon. The OH single charted poorly at #27, my guess is that Sony did a limited print of the single and many copies were snapped up by fans overseas who wanted the videos for OH/IDAN.

The point I want to make is that 2003 was a far worse time than 2013 at least if you lived in the uk.

Now im sorry that LMBTL didn't sell that well in the US but we need to move on and look forward to whats coming this year. I hope we get some new tracks for the Vegas setlist and a mini tour in europe.

I guess it didn't stop there... its you who doesn't fool anyone. Everyone is free to like whichever performance he wants, i've said more than many times which performance i like (jimmy fallon) and while the rest are not my favorite only Ellen performance makes me want to say how bad it is. However i don't remember anyone calling performances i like (or i don't mind for) "mistakes" which is not saying you don't like something but that its wrong. Also i don't know other members' connection with music/singing and i don't mean to offend them but i know yours and i find your conviction mindboggling. Though you called a note which was intentionally the way it was and rightfully so (in my opinion) wrong, you had to call it a mistake because it wasn't produced (in your opinion) with the correct technique or (in your opinion) shoulda been belted the way Aretha Franklin would have (as if "Naked" is a song in the style of Aretha) though you did like the way Celine sang it anyway!... i rest my case. since you won't do what you're saying you'll do and not reply, i will.

and if you listen to "feelings" as sang by Celine recently in a short greeting/tribute (w/e) video you'll see she doesn't use mixed voice but head voice for middle/high notes so Celine is NOT actually included in "every female pop singer" and that's why i like her

People are talking about her vocals with same 'conviction' as I do, I am not talking about comments such as 'I liked this performance', of course these comments are highly subjective, up to opinion and totally cool. I'm talking about comments like 'She nailed it, she was on point' when Celine is objectively flat or even out of tune. If you had an issue with inaccurate posts in general, I would have seen you at least one time calling someone out on them. But you have a personal issue with me. And come on! You corrected me (an ignorant in your books) and you would have a problem to correct someone who is supposed to be educated and posts crap? The connection with music/singing thing makes no sense. Other than that none of us knows for sure if the note was intentionally produced this way because Celine has tons of uneven upper belts in her live performances. Plus, there is no such thing as an 'Aretha style', she could totally sing 'Naked' it is within her range and a basic pop song, she has gone a whole octave lower and higher than that.

LOL @ the last phrase. Do you even have a clue what you are talking about? Can't believe you just implied Celine is not mixing in general because she chose to use head voice in a performance. :pinch: Celine can sing any note of the 5th octave in head voice, it is pure chest voice that stops at F#4, so when she wants to BELT a high note that is above F#4 she has to MIX. In other words, she has 2 choices for high notes: 1) Mixing (Balanced or not) 2) Head Voice. The use of one does not invalidate the use of the other. And this applies to all female pop singers: from Barbra to Beyoncé, from Celine to Monica Naranjo. Again, WOW @ that last phrase!

So, if a "collector's edition"/"limited edition" of this album were to ever be released (unlikely, I know), what should be on it? If it were up to me, I would include the following:

  • "I Drove All Night" music video
  • "Have You Ever Been In Love" music video
  • "One Heart" music video
  • Recording sessions video clips
  • Footage of Celine rehearsing "Love Is All We Need" for "A New Day..." (if any exists)
  • Four additional audio tracks including remixes of "I Drove All Night," "One Heart," "Reveal" and "Love Is All We Need"

Yup! As Davey said, in the liner notes for "One Heart," she talks about how much fun she had rehearsing both "I Drove All Night" and "Love Is All We Need" for "A New Day..." The "Radio Remix" of "A New Day Has Come" was also rehearsed and was to be part of the show on Opening Night, but it was axed last minute (or so I've heard). I wonder if any other songs from "One Heart" were ever rehearsed for "A New Day..." "In His Touch" and "I Know What Love Is" would have been great for that show. In a weird way, "Coulda Woulda Shoula" coulda ( :giggle:) worked well, too, if it were to have been given the right arrangement.

Oh wow. Okay. It would have been nice to see all of those songs in there!! That would have been neat!

Agreed. I always thought it was dumb having the show titled "A New Day..." when "A New Day Has Come" was nowhere to be seen until the last year and a half. I'm not one to usually support decisions that are based on forcing an artistic concept, but in the case of "A New Day Has Come," it should have been forced into the show one way or the other from Day 1. Anyway, this is a "One Heart" thread and not an "A New Day Has Come"/"A New Day..." thread. So, I'll leave that talk for a different time.

That's so true! I loved the ANDHC arrangement... I don't even get why they waited so long to include it.

Reopening an old thread.

I was thinking about the photo shoot made for this album, which is all in black and white colors.

I was wondering if the pictures were actually taken in B&W, or were they originally in color but then re-arranged on computer or whatever to make them B&W ?

I remember seeing one picture of the photoshoot in color (the one next to the "reveal" lyrics in the CD booklet).

Any ideas about this ?

Where could I find these color pictures ?

Thanks for your help

I managed to bag an official Japanese promotional store poster for One Heart off of Yahoo Auctions (I decided to frame it).
